1. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS INSIDE POWER
CORD
1.1 General
Situation
Increased contact resistance at the side of the blue IEC connector of the power cord. The
higher resistance can lead to temperatures on the wire isolation that are beyond the spec-
ication when the lamp is on and c urrent consumption is high.
Cause
The green wire ferrules prevent that the wires are inserted deep enough into the brass
connector pins. The second screw in the brass pin will only partly clamp the wire.
The tightening torque of the s crews is important.
Solution
Remove the green ferrules and tighten the screws with the correct torque. See rework
procedure.
Scoop
FLM power cable assemblies without a label that indicates Z3499178-03 (or higher), have
to be reworked.

pair of pliers
•Torqueat screwdriver 4 mm
How to rework
1. Loosen the cable gland locking nut (1).

2. Turn out both xation screws (2)
3. Slide the connector back shell backwards.

4. Loosen both screws of each wire and pull out the wires (3, 4 & 5).
5. Cut away the green plastic part of the ferrules with a sharp pair of pliers.

6. Loosen the 2 screws of each connector pin far enough to clear the hole completely.
Insert the wire back in the brass pin.
Note:Push each wire rmly till the bottom of the pin before tightening the screws!
7. Tighten the 2 screws of each pin by using a torque c ontrolled at screwdriver 4 mm or
bit driver 4 mm with a torque of 0.9 Nm
Tip: Experience has shown that when using a Philips screwdriver, the head of the screw
is damaged too easily

The wires are inserted deeper into the brass pins and the correct torque was applied on
the screws.
8. Mount the connector back shell and tighten the cable gland lock nut.
