VX-351/VX-352/CP-251 RACK MOUNT KIT
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
This rack mount kit can be used with both the VX-351(2)
Voyager™ CV Expander and the Moogerfooger® CP-251
Control Processor. It takes up 3 rack spaces in a standard 19”
equipment rack.
Possible assembly configurations include:
| 1 or 2 VX-351(2)s
| 1 VX-351(2) + 1 CP-251
| 1 or 2 CP-251s
THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL COVER THE
INSTALLATION OF 1 VX-351/VX-352 + 1 CP-251.
To complete the assembly, you will need the following tools:
| #1 Phillips screwdriver (medium small)
| A small pair of utility pliers or a 1/4” spinite wrench
You should also have a clean workspace where you can perform the
assembly without scratching the chassis of the VX-351 or the CP-251
GET STARTED
Identify the hardware components that come
with this rack mount kit. You should have the
following items:
a) 2 - ½” nylon hole plugs
b) 4 - #10 finishing washers
c) 4 - 10-32 x ½” oval head machine screws
d) 8 - 4-40 x ¼” oval head machine screws
e) 8 - 4-40 kep nuts
f) 1 - Center Block
g) 1 - daisy chain power harness
h) 1 - rack mount frame
STEP 1:
Remove the back panel from the VX-351(2). Set
aside the rubber feet with their mounting screws.
STEP 2:
Carefully remove the back panel from the CP-251.
The power connector on the CP-251’s back panel is
plugged into the Circuit board inside. Unplug the
+9V power connector from the CP-251 circuit
board. Set the rubber feet and their mounting
screws aside.
STEP 3:
Carefully remove all four wood end caps and save
the wood screws. Be careful as you remove the
screw not to strip the heads of the screws.

STEP 4:
Identify the 4-40 x ¼” Oval Head Phillips Machine
Screws (item 4 on the BOM) and the 4-40
KEP-NUTs (item 5 on the BOM). Put the screws in
the left end of the VX-351(2) and the right end of
the CP-251. Put the nuts on the screws. Hold the
nuts with the pliers (or spintite) and tighten the
screws carefully and gently. (The screws don’t hold
anything. They’re installed just to fill up the holes.)
STEP 5:
Set the Center Block in the left end of the CP-251,
oriented so the ridge on the block faces the same
direction as the CP-251’s knobs face. Note that
pilot holes are drilled in the Center Block. These
holes should line up with the CP-251 holes.
STEP 6:
Find four of the #4 wood screws that you took out
when you removed the CP-251’s end caps. Use the
#1 Phillips screwdriver to start the screws in the
pilot holes. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS YET.
STEP 7:
Now look in at the right end of the VX-351(2).
You’ll see two pins sticking out at you from the top
of the circuit board. These pins engage the
VX-351(2) Daisy Chain Power Harness. Position the
VX-351(2) so the panel is up. Position one of the
Daisy Chain Power Harness connectors so its
locking ramp faces up and the orange wire is to
the right. Carefully push the connector onto the
pins until the connector’s locking ramp engages
the mating tab on the VX-351(2) board. When
you’re done with this, inspect it carefully to make
sure that it is installed properly.

4-40 Kep Nut
4-40 Oval Head
Machine Screw
STEP 8:
In a manner similar to Step 6 above, fasten the
other side of the Center Block into the right end of
the VX-351(2). Don’t tighten these screws yet.
STEP 9:
Plug the free end of the Daisy Chain Power
Harness into the two pins labeled CN1 on the
CP-251 circuit board, so that the locking ramp on
the harness connector engages the mating tab on
CN1, and the orange wire faces toward the
newly-installed center block. Again, check what
you’ve just done to ensure that the connector is
installed on both pins. Once that’s done, tuck the
harness carefully into the space inside the CP-251
so that the harness’ slack is out of the way.
STEP 10:
Carefully turn the VX-351(2)/CP-251 module assem-
bly over and set it down on your work surface. Place
the rack frame over it. Line up the mounting holes in
the rack frame with the spring steel ‘speed nuts’ on
the module enclosures. Find the rubber feet with
the mounting screws in them. Leave the feet on the
screws. One at a time, feed the mounting screws
through the holes in the rack and into the speed
nuts. Use your #1 Phillips screwdriver to advance
the screws. Tighten all the screws very lightly.
STEP 11:
Carefully line up the modules so their sides are
even with the edges of the rack frame. Then
tighten all the screws holding the Center Block.
Do not overtighten.
STEP 12:
Tighten the eight screws that are holding the
rubber feet. Do not overtighten.
STEP 13:
Install the ½” hole plugs in the back of the rack
mount frame.
[STEP 9]
[STEP 10]
[STEP 13]
Note:
If you are installing 1 or 2 CP-251s in this rack mount
kit – the power connectors on the CP-251’s back
panel should be removed and installed in the back
of the rack mount frame in place of the 1/2” hole
plugs. The power connectors should be plugged
back into the CP-251’s CN1 before attaching the
CP-251s to the Rack Mount Frame (Step 10).
Your rack mount kit is now ready to be installed
into a 19” equipment rack. Use the 10-32 oval
head machine screws and the nylon trim washers
to install the rack mount kit in the rack.
And Voila!
