DESCRIPTION
CONNECTING AND USING YOUR TOASTER
Note: A residue of manufacturing oil may remain on the
toaster, which may therefore emit an odour when first used.
This is normal and will cease after the toaster has been used
a few times.
Normal Toasting
Your toaster can be used to toast a wide variety of bread.
Fresh and wholemeal breads take longer to toast, so these
items will need to be set at a higher setting than lighter types
of bread. As personal preference plays a great part, we
suggest that you try different settings. Try the lower settings
first, gradually increasing the timer setting until you find the
right one.
Place the toaster on a suitable stable and level surface.
Ensure that the mains socket is switched off at the wall.
Connect the toaster plug to the wall socket and switch on
the power.
Place the bread into the toaster bread slots.
Set the toast timer dial to the desired setting, from 1
(shortest time) to 7 (longest time).
Press the bread carriage lever down gently until it latches.
If the mains power to the appliance is off, the carriage
lever will not stay down.
The toasting cycle will commence.
When the time set on the toast timer has been reached,
the carriage will pop up and the toaster will switch off. The
toast can then be safely removed from the toaster.
Smaller pieces of bread may be difficult to remove after
the bread carriage has popped up. These can be removed
by gently raising the lever to a higher position.
The toasting cycle can be stopped at any time by pressing
the CANCEL button. The toast will pop up and the toaster
will switch off.
Always use the CANCEL button to interrupt the toasting cycle.
Do NOT force the carriage lever up or you may damage the
appliance. Never attempt to remove bread while it is toasting
always press CANCEL first.
Toasting Tips
The maximum thickness that your toaster will safely
accommodate in the bread slots is 1.5 cm.
Do NOT force bread that is too thick into the toaster. This may
cause the carriage release to be jammed, which is a possible
fire risk.
Dry, thin slices will toast quicker than moist, thick slices.
If the toast starts to smoke, press the CANCEL button
immediately.
Never try to toast wrapped or buttered items, or items with
sugar icing.
Never remove bread which has jammed in the toasting slots
without first unplugging the toaster from the mains supply and
allowing it to cool. When removing bread or toast from the
toaster be careful not to damage the carriage mechanism or
the heating elements.
After toasting, allow 20 seconds for the toaster to cool before
toasting again. This will allow the thermostat to reset for the
next toasting cycle.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO UK USERS
The power cord is terminated with a UK approved mains plug
fitted with a 13A fuse. If the fuse needs to be replaced, an
ASTA or BSI approved BS1362 fuse rated at 13A must be
used. If you need to change the mains plug, remove the fuse,
cut the plug from the cord and immediately dispose of it. Refit
the new plug (see Replacing the Mains Plug).
