Oostwoud 3144 User manual

  • Hello! I've reviewed the user manual for the OOSTWOUD Sinnebêdsje 3144 and 3145 hospital beds. This document provides detailed instructions on how to operate the bed, including the central caster locking, side rails, height adjustment, and mattress tilting features. It also covers maintenance and washing guidelines for machine-washable models. I'm here to answer any questions you have about the bed's operation or features.
  • How do I lock the casters for transport?
How are the side rails operated?
How do I adjust the height of the bed?
How to tilt the mattress plate?

3 CENTRAL CASTER LOCKING
An operating pedal for the caster functions is located both at head end and foot end of
the bed.
Caution: never use excessive force when operating caster functions. If operating the
pedals requires too much force, contact our technical service department.
TRANSPORT MODE
The pedals of the caster locking functions point
outward as shown on the picture.
In this mode, three casters can both roll and swivel
freely while the fourth caster (marked by a yellow
ring) can roll freely but is direction locked. The
directional lock of the caster can produce an audible
click sound.
Using the transport mode makes it much easier to
move the bed over longer distances.
MANOEUVRE MODE
The pedals of the caster locking functions point
upward.
All casters can both roll and swivel freely.
Using manoeuvre mode, the bed can be moved in all
directions.
LOCK MODE
The pedals of the caster locking functions point
inward as shown on the picture.
Lock mode blocks both swivelling and rolling of all
four casters, so the bed can’t be moved in any
direction. Always put the bed in lock mode when it
isn’t being moved.

4 OPERATING THE SIDE RAILS
Side rails in high position
For safety reasons, the side rails are operated by two-point control.
When standing at any long side of the bed and facing the bed, there’s a foot pedal at the
bottom of the right bed leg, right above the caster.
To unlock the side rail, it first needs to be manually lifted a bit (1). While holding up the side
rail, push down the pedal (2) with the right foot. The side rail is now unlocked.
Don’t drop the side rail! Instead, manually lower it to the preferred position.
The side rails can be left in 3 positions: high, halfway and low.
Halfway position Low position
When the side rail is in the high position, always check that it’s really locked well. To remind
you of this, there’s a sticker on the top tube of the side rail:
Caution! If this sticker is (partially) absent or illegible, it needs to be replaced!

5 HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
(not applicable for beds with fixed height)
5a: Height adjustment of mechanical beds
Using the crank at the foot end of the
bed, the height of the bed can be
mechanically adjusted. Turning the
crank clockwise raises the bed while
turning counter clockwise lowers the
bed.
5b: Height adjustment of electrical beds
The bed’s height can be adjusted by
means of a hand set located on a
slider underneath the foot end side of
the bed.
Pull the hand set from underneath the
bed to gain access to the height
control buttons.
The height control buttons on the
hand set are located inside the white
rectangle shown on the picture. The
arrows underneath the rectangle
indicate which button controls what
motion: pressing the left button
makes the bed move down while
pressing the right button makes the
med move up.
Letting go of a button immediately
stops the bed’s motion.
When the height adjustment is not being used, push the hand set back
underneath the bed to avoid bumping into it.

6 TILTING THE MATTRESS PLATE
The bed’s mattress plate can be tilted to
Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg
positions.
Adjusting the tilt of the mattress plate is
supported by a gas spring. This gas spring
only compensates for the weight of the
mattress plate, the mattress plate still needs
to be manually lifted or pressed down.
Adjusting the tilt of the mattress plate is
done by operating the handles located
under the corners of the mattress plate
(marked by the red circles in the picture).
Operate the gas spring by pulling a handle
upward (1). By pulling up or pushing down
the same end of the mattress plate (2) the
mattress plate can be infinitely positioned
in the preferred angle. Letting go of the
handle automatically locks the mattress
plate in the current angle.
The mattress plate can be used in both Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg.
Attention: always lower the mattress plate to horizontal position before switching from
Trendelenburg to reverse Trendelenburg, vice versa.
Caution: Make sure there’s no objects on the bed patients could climb on!
Caution: Don’t place any objects on the bed frame and safety shields underneath the
mattress plate!

7 REMOVING THE HEAD AND FOOT END SECTIONS
The end sections at head and foot ends of the bed can be removed completely.
Two slide latches that can be pushed inward to unlock the end section are located in the
upper tube of each end section.
Take hold of the end section, right under
the upper tube. Use your thumbs to
simultaneously move the slide latches
inward, as indicated by the red arrows.
While keeping the slide latches inward, lift
the end section about 1cm as indicated in
the picture.
Pull the top of the end section in your
direction. Then lift it out of the bed and put
it aside safely.

8 PLACING BACK THE HEAD AND FOOT END SECTIONS
Place the end section on the bed in
such a manner that the lower tube is
positioned between the bed’s
bumpers. The holes in the bottom side
of the end piece fit over the cylindrical
bolt heads that sit on top of the bed
frame (marked with red circles in the
picture).
Gently push the upper tube of the end
section towards the bed until the
hooks underneath the upper tube slip
over the small bolt heads and the slide
latches click shut.
Always make sure the end section is
locked well in place.

10 MACHINE WASHING
(for machine washable versions only)
The washable versions of the Sinnebêdsje are suitable for machine washing.
These versions have been tested with the following washing agents:
Neodischer ® Dekonta (cleaning detergent)
Neodischer ® BN (anti-stain)
(Company: Meko holland B.V., postbus 138, 9400 AC ASSEN)
When machine washing the bed, make sure the bed plate is placed in
maximum Trendelenburg or reverse Trendelenburg position. This
considerably shortens the drying time after washing.
Beds that are machine washed should be inspected and serviced according
to the list in chapter 9 more often than the non-washable version. Inspection
and service frequency depends on the frequency of washing machine usage.
