o operate properly, your Heliport requires
12-18 volts (AC). You can supply power
to this accessory in two ways: wiring directly
to your transformer OR wiring to a Lionel
LockOn (available separately) that is
attached to the track. Figure 1 illustrates the
following procedure.
To make the proper connections, the
ends of the wires must be stripped back 1/4”
to 3/8”. Use a pair of wire strippers or a
sharp knife to strip the wires.
Only an adult should perform
this task! Always use care
when stripping wires.
1. Attach one wire to the “U” terminal of
your transformer OR to one terminal on
your Lionel LockOn (available separate-
ly).
LockOn Users! Attach the LockOn to
any section of straight track. Fit the cen-
ter lip of the LockOn onto the edge of the
outside rail and press the LockOn
upward so that the spring contact snaps
onto the center rail. To attach wires to
the LockOn, simply depress the spring
clip and insert the bare end of the wire
into the exposed opening. Release the
clip, and gently tug on the wire to be
sure that you have a good connection.
2. Connect this wire to one of the spring
clips labeled TRANSFORMER CLIPS at
the bottom of the accessory.
To attach this wire, simply depress
the spring clip and insert the bare
end of the wire into the exposed opening.
Release the clip, and gently tug on the wire
to be sure that you have a good connection.
3. Attach another wire to the “A” terminal
on your transformer OR to the other ter-
minal on your Lionel LockOn.
4. Connect this wire to the other spring clip
labeled TRANSFORMER CLIPS at the
bottom of the accessory.
5. To wire the launch switch, attach one
wire to the each of the spring clips
labeled TRIGGER SWITCH at the bottom
of the accessory.
6. Connect each of these wires to the termi-
nals on the separate switch (included
with your accessory).
At this point, you have supplied power to the
accessory and wired the control button.

fter you have completed the wiring of
this accessory, your Lionel Heliport is
clear for landing on your layout!
1. Place the Heliport on a flat, level
section of your layout.
You may want to consider locating the
Heliport in where it will be in easy reach
for preparing the helicopter for launch.
Securing this accessory to your layout is
also your choice; you will find two slot-
ted areas on the base of the Heliport for
this purpose.
2. Next, install the radar dishes and
megaphones.
Attach the two radar dishes to the post
and push the base of the post into the
opening on the roof. Refer to the dia-
gram for assembly and installation
details. Attach the two molded mega-
phones above or below the roof as indi-
cated in Figure 5.
3. Finally, install the black tail sup-
port structure.
Simply push the two legs into the two
openings on the roof.

The Heliport is wired, positioned, and
assembled. You are clear for takeoff!
Here are your flight instructions.
1. Slide the metal lever all the way
to the right to so that the metal
locking mechanism catches each
of the three “teeth” along the
sides of the platform/dial.
If the metal locking mechanism is
not in position to capture each
tooth, the platform will unwind immediately.
2 Turn the black helicopter plat-
form/dial clockwise approximate-
ly seven to eight clicks.
3 Next, place the helicopter on the
launching platform.
The tail should rest on the black support
structure to the right of the launching
platform. The body of the helicopter
should rest on the launching platform.
The notches or teeth in the center
of the platform and at the bottom
of the helicopter must fit together. Rotate
the helicopter blades while the helicopter is
in position until these notches fit together.
4. Launch your helicopter by press-
ing the launch button or by using
the Cab-1 remote. For informa-
tion about using the CAB-1, refer
to the Command Control sections
above.
If you press the button and the
helicopter does not launch, simply
tap on the roof of the structure to release any
binds that have occurred in the mechanism.
Have a great flight!
The blades of the helicopter
rotate to provide lift. Keep
clear of the accessory when launching the
helicopter.

The interior of your Lionel Heliport is illu-
minated by one lamp (part no. 12-3011-311).
During the course of normal operation, it may
require replacement. Follow these steps and
refer to Figure 7 to replace the lamp.
1 Unscrew the die-cast nuts from the top of
the roof, then remove the roof.
A wire runs from the structure
to the roof. Be careful that
you do not pull on this wire and disturb its
connections. See a Lionel Authoirzed Service
Center for assistance with the connections.
2 Locate the lamp and pull it out of the
socket. Refer to the diagram for lamp
location.
3 Carefully push the replacement lamp
into the socket.
4 Replace the roof so that the securing
screws line up with the two holes in the
roof. Also, be sure that the molded brack-
ets on the bottom of the roof are posi-
tioned at the inside of the two rear cor-
ners. Secure the roof with the two die-
cast nuts.
