CARBURETOR PRESETS
When makingadjustments,do not force
theplasticlimitercaps beyondthe
stopsor damagewilloccur.
If carburetorpresetsare notneeded,
proceedto"idle Adjustments."
• Turnboth mixture screws counter-
clockwise untilthey stop.
• Turn the idle speed screw clockwise
until it stops. Now turn counterctock-
' wise4-1/2turns.
Start motor,let it run for 3 minutes, and
proceedto the adjustment section,tf
engine does notstart, refer to trouble-
shooting chart orcall 1-800-235-5878.
Ifengine performance is acceptable at
the preset positions and there is no
chain movement at idle, no further ad-
justment is necessary.
ADJUSTING PROCEDURE
Idle Speed "T"
Allow enginetoidle.Adjust speed until
enginerunswithoutchainmovement or
stalling.
• Turn clockwiseto increase engine
speed if engine stalls or dies.
• Turn counterclockwiseto decrease
speed.
No further adjustments are necessaryif
chain does not move at idlespeed and
ifperformanceissatisfactory.
Low Speed Mixture "L"
Allow enginetoidle, Thenaccelerate
the_.engineand noteperformance.If en-
ginehesitates,bogsdown,orsmokes
duringacceleration,turnmixturescrew
clockwisein 1/16-turnincrements until
performance!s satisfactory.Repeatthis

High Speed Mixture "H"

occur.Makea testcut. Basedon per-
formanceofthesawwhilecutting,ad-
justthehighspeed mixturesettingin
1!16-turnincrementsas follows:
• Clockwiseuntilthe saw hasgood
PDowerinthecutwithno hesitation.
o notadjustbysoundor speed,but
judgeby howwellthesaw performsin
thecut.
• Counterclockwise if the saw has
speed, but dies inthe cutor lacks
powerin thecut.
After completing adjustments,checkfor
accelerationand chainmovement at
idle.Resetif necessary.
Acceleration Check
Iftheenginedies orhesitatesinsteadof
accelerating,turnthelow speed mixture
adjustment counterclockwiseuntil you
havesmoothacceleration withno chain
movementat idle.Recheckand adjust
asnecessaryfor acceptableperfor-
mance.
Prepare your unitfor storage at the end
ofthe season or if itwill not be used for
30 days or more.
WARNING:
• AUow the engine to cool, and secure
the unit before storing or transporting.
• Store chain saw and fuel in a well
ventilated area wherefuet vapors
cannot reach sparks or open flames
from water heaters, electric motors or
switches, furnaces, etc.
° Store chain saw with all guards in
place and position chain saw so that
any sharp object cannot accidentally
cause injury.
• Store chain saw well out of the reach
of children.
