Simeon 900AI Receiver/ Amplier
Flick the master switch on the front of the receiver to the ‘ON’ posion [1].
A steady green light indicates that the receiver is on and ready to use. On the
front of the unit, there are two independent volume controls [5], one for each
channel. By default, the channels on the receiver are set to match the colours of
the transmier capsules: Channel A with black, and Channel B with grey. Each of
these channels has its own indicator LED on the receiver, right beside its volume
dial. They will light green if there is an established connecon to their respecve
transmier. Otherwise, they will remain red. Rotate the volume dials clockwise
out of the ‘OFF’ posion to begin receiving signal from the transmiers, and ad-
just the dial to the desired volume. The suggested volume seng for a medium
sized classroom is 4. An amber “AF” indicator will light when you are speaking.
To turn o the receiver, simply ip the master switch on the back of the unit to
‘OFF’ [1].
Simeon 501TI Transmier/Microphones
To turn the transmier on, hold the power buon on the front of the trans-
mier for two (2) seconds [27], unl a green indicator lights. This indicator will
turn red when the transmier is low on baeries. The capsule of the 501TI is
highly direconal [33] – point the microphone directly towards the mouth for
best performance. The ‘Mute’ switch on the back of the transmier [32] allows
for easy interrupon of the audio signal. To turn the unit o, simply hold the
power buon [27] for three (3) seconds, unl the indicator turns o. Note: do
not put the transmier in your pocket. The transmier contains two eming
infrared diodes just below the capsule, and another ve at its base [28]. In order
for the transmier to work properly, these cannot be covered. The transmier
may be worn in conjuncon with the Simeon 623 boom (headset) microphone
or alternaves by either being hung around the neck using the included lanyard
or at the waist using the included belt clip.
Simeon 623 Direconal Boom Microphone
The Simeon 623 microphone and its alternaves are great addions to the
Simeon 900AI system, increasing its convenience and ease of use. Using it in
conjuncon with the 501TI frees up your hands and allows the transmier to be
worn either around the neck or at the waist.
Plug the microphone into the 3.5mm input jack on the boom of the trans-
mier [29]. The 501TI will automacally adjust sound levels to account for mi-
crophone or auxiliary input feeds. If you are using a Simeon headset microphone,
place the ear hooks [23] over your ears and adjust the boom arm [24] to posion
the mic capsule to point to the corner of your mouth. It is not necessary to place
the microphone in front of your lips and doing so may diminish sound quality.
The boom microphone frame must be adjusted to rest comfortably over both
ears, with no other contact or pressure points against the head or face. Ensure
that the 501TI is not muted [32] and is turned ON. The input jack can also be used
for connecng to external audio feeds, including laptops and iPods.
External Connecons
The back panel of the 900AI has several external connectors. These can be
used to connect peripheral devices to the receiver.
In the centre of the back panel there are two sets of auxiliary RCA input jacks
[6]. These can be used for connecng external audio sources, such as computers
and iPods to the receiver with the appropriate cable. The volume controls for
these inputs are found on the front of the 900AI [4]. They are labelled AUX IN and
PC IN to match the sets of jacks on the back.
Also in the middle of the back panel there is a 3.5mm auxiliary output jack [9].
This can be used for direct connecons to special equipment such as personal
FM systems. To set these up, connect the personal FM transmier to the port on
the back of the receiver. Screw-adjust gain and equalizer controls adjust the out-
put for the FM transmier independently of the speaker volume. The equalizers
allow adjustment at 100, 1,000 and 10,000 Hz.
The 501TI is ed with an auxiliary input jack [29] to allow for connecon
and transmission of external audio feeds. To set these up, connect them to the
port on the boom of the transmier. The 501TI will automacally adjust sound
levels to account for microphone or auxiliary input feeds.
Seng Gain Level
Check the volume posion of both channels before turning the system on!
Turn the 900AI ON at the master power switch on the front of the system [1]. The
900AI comes with two independent volume controls – one for each IR channel.
With the transmiers turned ON and microphone posioned correctly, slowly
increase the volume controls to a comfortable listening level. Avoid excessive
amplicaon – speech should be comfortably audible throughout your listening
area.
On the le of the front of the 900AI there are screw-adjust bass and treble
controls [3]. This will change the tone of the sound.
