Important Safety Instructions
When using your Positioning Commode, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the
risk of injury to persons.
1. Read and understand all instructions.
2. Determine, with a physician or therapist, the suitability of this commode for the intended user.
3. Do not leave the user unattended unless you have determined that their ability and requirements are
such that it poses no safety risk to leave them unsupervised.
4. Place your commode only on a level surface, not near steps, water or other hazards.
5. Check that all locking knobs, bolts, buckles and other parts are tight at all times.
6. For any user who may experience sudden body movement (e.g., spastic motions), attach your
commode securely to the floor or wall with straps and screws to prevent tipping.
7. Make certain your commode is assembled with the anti-tilt feet on the front legs
facing forward.
8. Keep your commode clean and sanitary.
9. Do not use this equipment for purposes other than as a positioning commode.

Assembly of Positioning Commode
Step 1: Attach the rear legs
The two rear legs are shipped detached from the frame. Insert the strut on each leg into your commode
frame. Tighten the locking bolts on the frame.
Step 2: Attach the back support
Slide your back support onto the two upright posts at the rear of your commode. Tighten the plastic locking
knobs to secure the back support.

Step 3: Attach the commode pail
The commode pail is attached and removed from the side of your commode. The commode pail must be in
the steel hoop.
Slide the square tubing that extends from the hoop onto the square shaft pointing down on one side of your
commode frame. You will need to depress the push-button release on the frame. To remove the commode
pail, press the release button. Holding the button down, slide the hoop and commode pail downwards and
off your commode.
Step 4: Attach the footrest
Slide the footrest onto the front legs. Tighten with plastic locking knobs.
Step 5: Attach the telescoping feet
The two front feet are made of round tubing and go in the round front legs. The two rear feet are made of
square tubing and go around the square rear legs. Insert the front feet with the flat anti-tilt plates pointing
forward
s. Tighten the locking bolts. Insert the rear feet so that the side of the tubing with the indentations
is facing the locking bolt on the rear legs. Tighten the locking bolts.
Adjusting your Positioning Commode
Adjust the seat height by moving the rear legs in or out. Tighten the locking bolts after adjusting.
Adjust the back height by sliding the back support up or down. Tighten the plastic knobs after adjusting.
Adjust the footrest height by sliding the footrest up or down. Tighten the plastic knobs after adjusting.
Adjust your commode height and tilt with the telescoping feet on each leg. Tighten the locking bolts
after adjusting. Make sure the bolts enter into the holes or indentations in the foot tubes.
Your commode is tilted by extending the two front legs at one end more than those at the rear legs.
Adjust the pelvic strap for the correct length. If you do not need the pelvic strap, it may be removed.
Adjust the back support chest strap or harness for a correct fit.
Cleaning Your Positioning Commode
Soapy water or mild cleaners and disinfectants may be used on the padded seat, commode pail, and all
other parts of your commode. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners (e.g. Ajax, Comet, etc.) as these may
damage the finish. Keep metal surfaces dry to prevent deterioration of the finish.
