IN TRO DUC TION:

A bro ken al ter na tor field ground wire may cause im proper con trol of al ter na tor out put by the volt age regu la -

tor. To pre vent this it is rec om mended that an ad di tional ground be added to the wire har ness close to the

volt age regu la tor(s).

IN STRUC TIONS:

1. Lo cate volt age regu la tor(s), co- pilot side of cen ter con sole and for ward of in stru ment panel face .

2. Cut ny lon ca ble ties to al low work ing ac ces si bil ity to volt age regu la tor con nec tor(s).

3. Lo cate ground wire, pin 9, wire number JK- PA14A18 (and pin 9, wire number JK- PA32A18 (on othe r

volt age regu la tor) on M20K air craft with dual al ter na tors).

4. Cut wire number JK- PA14A18 ap proxi mately 4 inches from con nec tor and strip ends. Splice back to -

gether with wire number JK- PA14B18 added to splice (routed away from con nec tor) as shown in Fig -

ure SB M20- 247-1. Re peat this pro ce dure on sec ond regu la tor with wire num bers JK- PA32A18 a nd

JK- PA32B18 on M20K air craft with dual al ter na tors.

5. Clean paint from around hole in end of con trol ca ble sup port bracket and con nect ground wire (s) to

bracket us ing AN3- 4A bolt, AN960- 10 wash ers (2) and MS21045- L3, self lock ing nut.

6. Re- secure regu la tor wires with ny lon ca ble ties.

7. Check al ter na tors for proper op era tion per POH/AFM and/or Serv ice and Main te nance man ua l.

8. En ter com pli ance note into air craft log book and re turn air craft to serv ice.

ra tion will al low up to 0.75 hours la bor (1.0 hour la bor on dual al ter na tor air craft) to ac com plish this SB if war -

ranty claim is re ceived within 180 days from is sue date of this bul le tin.
