How to Install
2.1 Software Installation
First, the installation files of the MP5 Writer should be downloaded from the official site of SONiX
(www.sonix.com.tw) by client;
Execute MP5WriterVxxx.exe, and select an install language (simplified Chinese, English), and then install
according to prompts;
Two methods for starting the burning software of the MP5 Writer:
Method I: execute a desktop shortcut;
Method II: execute “start->all programs->MP5 Writer->MP5 Writer”;
USB drive program, which is installed automatically by system; Installation times are varied from different host
machines!
The software and the MP5 Writer are used for downloading the burning files and completing relative burning
operations. Please refer to the related parts for detailed operations.
2.2 Hardware Installation
Open the top shell of the MP5 Writer, and install the MP pinboard of corresponding type, as shown in Figure 2-1;
Figure 2-1 MP5 Writer + MP burning pinboard
If it is greater than 48 pins, it may be connected with the burning pinboard of corresponding type and the
corresponding burning socket via the 20-pin flexible flat cable (no MP burning pinboard is needed at this time), as
shown in Figure 2-2;

Figure 2-2 MP5 Writer + burning pinboard + Socket
Connect with the MP5 Writer standard power source DC 7.5 V/2A DC power supply;
Connect the MP5 Writer with a PC through A-B or a Micro USB cable;
Communication between the writer and the PC (e.g., operations such as downloading the burning files, on-line
burning and so on), should be performed when characters of “uSb” are displayed by the digital tube (if there is no
such prompt, please re-pair the USB cable or plug out the power line and reinsert);
Execute MP5 Writer.exe, and download the burning files to be burnt into the writer;
In a case that the USB cable is not plugged, after the writer is power on, the digital tube may display “chip model-
software version number” at first, and then display data related with the burning code which are stored in the writer
(including the MCU model and the Checksum value). The data stored in the writer is empty or error, there will be a
prompt of “Err4”, the red light is normally on and accompanied by alarm. At this time, the correct burning files should
be redownloaded.
The arrangement direction of MCU is shown in Figure 2-3 or with reference to a label on the shell of the writer.
