To adjust the length of the back panel,
pull the waist strap out of the upper
drawstring casing and pull it through the
lower drawstring casing. This lengthens
the back panel by 7 cm. Don’t forget to
adjust the belt strap as well. Normally,
the belt strap runs at the same height as
the waist strap; however, in the newborn
position, this strap is inserted through
the uppermost of the small loops on the
waist strap.
Adjustments prior to wear
Close the buckle until you hear a distinct click and pull the
elastic safety tab over the buckle. Then thread the excess
length of the belt strap through the elastic tab as well.
Should the buckle accidentally come unfastened, it will
get caught in the elastic band and your child will stay safe
and secure.
Before you can use the MilaMai, adjust the gap width for
leg positioning and the back panel height to suit the size of
your baby.
A new MilaMai carrier has Velcro pads inside the waist
strap drawstring casing with Velcro backing for fabric
protection. To adjust the gap width for leg positioning,
these must first be removed.
Then you can cinch the material for the gap width togeth-
er as far as necessary. The rule of thumb is:
Gap width for leg position = half the baby’s height.
See spread-squat position on page 3.
Spread the gathered fabric uniformly outwards on both
sides.
Make sure that the fabric reaches down to the hollow of
the baby’s knee but does not poke it.
