Conventions
The “Enclosure” mentioned in this User Guide stands for following products: XM-EN3200-BK or XM-
EN3400-BK without any explanations. All these devices are sharing this User Guide. All product models
listed just differ in appearance and figure in this User Guide.
Chapter 1 Product Overview
1.1 Introduction
These external Enclosures let you connect any 3.5” hard disk through any USB port. XM-EN3200-
BK featuring for SATA hard disk installation, while XM-EN3400-BK featuring for combo IDE or SATA hard
disk installation. Both Enclosures use electroplated aluminum casing for better heat dispersion.

WARNING: Hard Disk requires careful handling, especially when being transported. If you are not
careful with your hard disk, lost data may result. Always handle your hard disk or
storage device with caution.
2.1 Hardware Installation
To Install the Enclosure, please follow these steps as follow:
1. Use the provided mini screw driver to take out the screws from both side of the
panel as shown Figure 1. Leave the screws on the side for later use.

2. Gently pull out the panel from the Enclosure as shown on Figure 2. Then pull out
both side plastic rail cover.

3. To install IDE hard disk on Model XM-EN3400-BK, connect the IDE and Power cable
as shown in Figure 3.

4. To install SATA Hard disk on Model XM-EN3200-Bk (Shown in Figure 4) or XM-
EN3400-BK (Shown in Figure 4.1)

5. After connecting the Hard disk, slide in the installed hard disk with panel back into
Enclosure, and use 4 provided screws to tighten the Hard Disk (Figure 5). Then insert
back both side plastic rail cover. Lastly, use the 2 screws to tighten the Enclosure
panel.

6. After finish all hardware installation, you can connect the USB cable from the
Enclosure to the computer system.

2.2 Driver Installation
No driver installation is required for USB enabled computer systems, as this enclosure uses
natively installed driver. Supported operating systems should automatically detect and install the
enclosure.
2.3 Verifying Installation
To verify the installation:
1. Right click the icon Computer on the desktop, and then click Manage

2. The Computer Management screen will appear. Click Device Manager, and then
you will see various options on the right side. Double click on the Disk Drive
option. A new disk drive should be listed under this category. It will typically
contain the make/model of the hard drive you have installed in the Enclosure.
2.4 Using the Enclosure (Windows 2000/XP/7/8.x/10)
1. If you are using a brand new hard disk that doesn’t contain any data, then you will first need to
prepare the hard disk for use. From the main desktop, right-click on “Computer, then select
Manage. In the new Computer Management window, select Disk Management from the left
window panel.

2. Locate the Disk that says it is “Unallocated”, then right-click in the section that says
“Unallocated” and a new window will pop up, then select “New Partition”. Follow the
instructions in the wizard to complete setting up the drive. Once completed, the Disk should
show up as “Healthy” with a drive letter assigned (i.e.: G:).
3. If you are installing a hard disk that already contains data on it, then after plug it in, the disk
should automatically show up with the Drive Letter assigned within the computer.
