2. Insertthe memory card (p.10). Asthis camera has
a 20MB internal memory, you do not need toinsert
the memory card. ifthe memory card isnot
inserted,an image wilt be stored in the internal

3. Close the batterychamber cover.
4. Press the powerbutton to turnon thecamera.

5. Select the AUTO mode by rotatingthe mode dial.
6. Point the cameratowardsthe subject andcompose the image byusing the
LCD monitor.

Selectingthe automatic modewill configurethe
camerawith optimal settings.You can still manually
configure allfunctionsexcept the aperturevalue and
shutterspeed.
1.Select the PROGRAM modeby rotatingthe mode
dial.
2.Press the menubutton to configure advanced
functionssuch as image size (p.36),quality (p.36),
metering (p.37),auto focus type (p.37),continuous
shooting (p.38), sharpness(p.39)andOSD

Howto usethe APERTURE PRiORiTY mode( A )
1.Select the APERTURE PRiORiTY Mode by
rotatingthe mode dial.
2.Setthe aperture value by usingthe +/-,up/down
button.
3. Pressthe +/- button twiceand take an image.

* SmallerAperturevalues make the objectsharp but blurthe background.

Howto use the SHUTi-ER PRIORITY mode ( S )
1. Selectthe SHUlq-ER PRIORITY Mode by rotating
the mode dial.
2. Setthe shutterspeed by usingthe +/-,up/down
button.
3. Pressthe +/- buttontwiceandtake an image.
* High Shutterspeeds can capture a movingobject in a
still image asifthe object isnot moving. LowShutter
speeds can capturea moving objectwith an 'active'
effect.
Howto use the MANUAL mode( _V_)
You can manuallysenfigure allfunctionswith the
aperture valueand shutterspeed.
1. Selectthe MANUAL mode byrotatingthe mode
dial.
2. Pressthe + /- button andmenu forthe shutter
speedand aperturevalue wilt display.
Up / Downbutton :changes aperture value
Left/ Rightbutton : changesshutter speed.
3. Pressthe +/- buttontwiceandtake an image.

Howto use the ASR (AdvancedShake Reduction)mode (_]}) ASR)
Advanced ShakeReduction(ASR) mode.
This modewill reduce the effectof camera shakeand /f"/_ c,__'_
help you get a well-exposedimage in dim conditions.
Pressthe ASR button.
Thingsto watch outfor using theASR mode
1.The digital zoom will not operate in theASR
mode.
2. Ifthe lightingconditionsare brighterthan
fluorescent lightingcondition, theASR doesn't
activate.
3. Ifthe lightingconditionis darkerthan in
fluorescent lightingcondition, camerashake
warning indicator ( _' )will display. Forbest [ASRmode]
resultsonly take picturesin situationswhere
the camera shakewarning indicator ( _O_ )is not displayed.
4. Ifthe subject ismoving the finalimage captured maybe blurred.
5.Avoid moving the camerawhile the [Capturing!]message isdisplayed to
achieve abetter result.
6.As the ASR uses the camera'sdigital processor, imagestaken using the ASR
maytake a little longer forthe camerato process.

Wise Shot
2 images are taken ata time. One istaken inthe FiiFInFlash mode andthe other
is taken in the ASR mode. You can select and save onlyone ofthe images.
How tousethe Wise Shot
1.Select the ASR modeby rotatingthe mode dial.
2. Press the Ebutton andthe Wise Shot functionis
activated.
3. Press the Shutterbutton to captureimages.
4. Captured images are displaying.

[MOVE CLIP mode
Pausing whilerecordinga movieclip (Successive Recording)
This cameraallows you to temporarily stop during unwantedscenes, white
recording amovie clip. Usingthis function, you can recordyour favoufite scenes
into a movieclip withouthaving to create multiplemovie clips.
Using SuccessiveRecording
1.Pressthe shutter button andmovie clipsare
recordedfor as long asthe available recording
time. Movieclips wiltstill be recorded ifthe shutter
button isreleased.
2. Pressthe Pause button (CIZ])) to pause
recording. Pressthe Pause button (tOll}) again to
resumethe recording.
3. Ifyou wish tostop recording, press the shutter
button again.
Recordingthe movieclip withoutvoice
You can recordthe movie clipwithoutvoice.
1. Pressthe Up button and the ( I_ )iconwill
display on the LCDmonitor.
2. Pressthe shutter button andmovie clipis
recordedfor as tongas the available recording
time withoutvoice.
3.To stop the recording,press the shutter button
again.

A voicecan be recorded foras longasthe availab}e
recordingtime (max:lhour) allows.

select the VOICE RECORDING modeby pressing
the Voicerecordingbutton twice.
2. Press the shutterbutton to recorda voice.
-Press the shutterbutton onceand voice is
recorded foras long asthe avai]abterecording
time (max:lhour) aibws. The recordingtimewi}I
be displayed on the LCDmonitor. Voice willstill
be recorded ifthe shutter button is released.
-Ifyou wishto stop recording,press the shutter
button again.

*A distance of40cm between you and the camera (microphone)isthe best
distance torecord sound.

Pressing the shutterbutton down halfway.
Ughflypress the shutter buttonto confirm focus andflash battery charge.
Pressthe shutter button allway down totake the picture.

The avai}ablerecordingtime may varydepending on shootingconditionsand
camera settings.
When the F{ashOff or Slowsynchro modeis selectedin a lowlightingcondition,
the camera shakewarningindicator ( _O_ )may appear onthe LCDmonitor.
_nthiscase, use a tripod, supportthe cameraon a solidsurface or change to
flashshot mode.
Shooting against the light:
PEeasedo not take picturestothe sunlight direction.Taking a pictureagainstthe
sun maymake the picturedark.To take a pictureagainstthe sun, please use the
[8aoklight] in the sceneshooting mode (see page 16),fiINnflash (see page 25),
spot metering (see page 37),or exposure compensation (seepage 34).
Avoid obstructingthe lensor the flash when youcapturean image.
Compose the image by using the LCDmonitor.

Undercertainconditionstheautofocussystemmaynotperformasexpected.
-Whenphotographingasubjectthathaslittlecontrast.
-Ifthesubjectishighlyreflectiveorshiny.
-Ifthesubjectismovingathighspeed.
-Whenthereisstrongreflectedlight,orwhenthebackgroundisverybright.
-Whenthesubjectmatterhasonlyhorizontallinesorthesubjectisverynarrow
(suchasastickorflagpole).
-Whenthesurroundingsaredark.
Therecordingmodefunctioncanbesetupbyusingthecamerabuttons.
Usedforturningthecamera'spoweron/off.
tfthere isno operation during the specifiedtime,
the camera'spower will be turnedoff automatically
tosave batterylife.

processfor recordinga movieclip. Pressthe
shutterbutton once andthe movie clipis recorded

memory allows. Ifyou wishtostop recording, press the shutter buttonagain.
InSTILL IMAGE mode
Pressingthe shutterbutton down haIM,ay activatesthe autofocus andchecks
the conditionofthe flash. Pressingthe shutter button down fully takesand stores
the image. Ifyou select voice memo recording, the recordingwillstart afterthe
camera has finished storingthe imagedata.
