Carefully read and keep the operating and installation
instructions.
Unpack the appliance and check for transport related
damage.
Check the contents packaged in the factory (Fig. A).
After installation please dispose of the packaging, and if
applicable, the old appliance correctly.
This appliance is labelled in accordance with
European Directive 2002/96/EG concerning used
electrical and electronic appliances (waste
electrical and electronic equipment – WEEE).
The guideline determines the framework for the
return and recycling of used appliances as
applicable throughout the EU.
Installation instructions
Safety instructions
Installation is to be carried out only in accordance with
these instructions!
The appliance may only be installed and put into
operation by a specialist or an authorised service
agent.
During installation of the appliance and/or the electrical
accessories compliance with the IEC 60364-7-701
(DIN VDE 0100 Part 701) must be observed. In addition to
valid national regulations, the electrical operating
conditions of the local electricity and water supply
services must be complied with.
Only connect the appliance to a correctly earthed
electrical socket.
Do not use extension cables.
The connection cable may only be exchanged and
extended by customer service.
During installation, an all-pole separator must be fitted
with a minimum contact gap of 3 mm.
Caution: Earthed water pipes may give the appearance
of a connected protective earth.
The water tank can be used both as an open (unpressuri-
zed) tank and a closed (pressurized) tank. The taps must
be approved for operation.
In the event of closed operation the safety valve must be
actuated regularly.
The appliance and the respective water pipes and
components may only be installed in a frost free room.
The dismounted appliance must be stored in a frost-free
area (residual water).
Before installation the electrical cable must be
de-energized and the water pipe must be shut-off!
Connect the water supply and then connect the
electrical supply!
After installation live parts may not be touchable.
Repairs to the appliance may only be undertaken by
a suitably qualified specialist.
Preparations for installation
The appliance and the respective water pipes and
components may only be installed in a frost free room.
Wall mounting (Fig. B)
A special supporting structure may be necessary when
installing the appliance on a light-weight wall.
After mounting the tank use the adjustable screws to
vertically align the tank.
A mounting template is printed on the appliance
packaging to facilitate installation.
Use suitable screws with at least Ø 8 mm (supplied)
Supply of water
Use detachable connections only.
Closed circuit operation (pressure-resistant) (Fig. C)
This tank can be used to supply several taps.

Important: The standards and regulations and/or proper-
ties of the water tank and the accessory parts differ from
country to country and must be observed accordingly.
Rinse the water pipes thoroughly to remove impurities and
contaminants before connecting the taps.
Install the appliance in the vicinity of the tap at which most
warm water is taken.
Install a safety valve combination.
If the permissible water pressure is exceeded (see table
with Technical data), an additional pressure-reduction
valve must be installed and set accordingly.
Install the pressure reduction valve away from the tank.
A cut-off valve must not be installed between the safety
assemblies and the tank.
An outlet must be installed under the safety valve as
expansion water can drip from the valve.
The safety valve outlet must always be open.
The safety valve combination must be authorized for
closed (pressurized) operation (type-tested).

If the safety valve is not directly situated before an outlet,
an outlet pipe with a continuous downwards tilt must be
fitted.
Note: According to the energy conservation regulations,
the temperature in pipes may not exceed 60 °C if the
length of the warm water pipes exceeds 5 m.
Unpressurized operation
With this tank one open (unpressurized) tap can be
supplied.
Install a suitable overflow mixer:
BZ12410 Wall mixing tap with tub outlet, shower hose and
hand-held shower head: or
BZ11110 Mixing tap with visible cross-connected body
for mounting on vertical surface and hand-held shower
head.
The tap outlet must always remain free as it is used for
ventilation. Do not use perlators/diffusers.
Install a check valve in the cold water supply.
Startup (Fig. E)
Important: Connect the water supply connections and then
the electrical supply connections as otherwise the appliance
will be damaged.
Fill and rinse the tank until the water flows without air
bubbles.
Plug in the main plug, display 9 lights up, the appliance is
now ready to operate and in frost protection mode.
The appliance is switched over to heating operation with
button 6.
LED 3 lights and thus indicates the preset temperature
(approx. 55, factory setting). Heating commences after
about 10 seconds, LED 3 goes off and the tank heats up
to about 55 °C.
During the heating up phase the LEDs flash consecutively
and light up permanently in order to indicate the water
temperature already achieved. The set temperature is
achieved as soon as all LEDs light up.
Expansion water should drip from the outlet of the safety
valve (pressurized operation) or from the mixer
(unpressurized operation) during heating.
Monitor during the first heat up operation.
Tip: Water loss and scaling are at their lowest at water
temperature setting stage e (approx. 55 °C).
After installation, hand over the operating instructions to
the user and explain how the appliance operates.
Appliance switch off
If the water tank is not in continuous use, disconnect the
appliance from the mains.
The tank must be drained fully by our customer service
department or an authorised specialist in order to avoid
frost damage, if the appliance is switched off and/or the
electrical supply is disconnected.
Draining (Fig. C)
Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply.
Close the stop valve (6).
Open a warm water tap (7).
Connect a draining hose to the drain valve (8) or safety
valve (1).
Open the valve and drain the water.
Operating instructions

Use only in accordance with these instructions.
The appliance may only be installed and put into operation
by a specialist or an authorised service agent.
With pressurized operation the safety valve must be
operated regularly every month to verify its function and to
descale the valve (Fig. D).
Open the lever until water emerges. Close the lever again
(operating state).
Contact customer service if the safety valve does not
work.
If the water tank has not been used for more than three
months it must be thoroughly rinsed out until the water
flows without air bubbles.
The appliance and the respective water pipes and
components may only be installed in a frost free room.
Please inform children that the water outlet can be hot!
Persons (including children) with diminished bodily,
sensory or mental perception, or those who lack
knowledge or experience should not operate the
appliance, unless they are monitored or have received
instruction concerning use of the appliance by persons
responsible for their safety.
Please monitor children to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.

Operating elements and
displays (Fig. E)
1 Temperature display LED (Stage I)
The LED indicates a temperature of approx. 35 °C when lit.
2 Temperature display LED
The LED indicates a temperature of approx. 45 °C when lit.
3 Temperature display LED (Stage e)
The LED indicates a temperature of approx. 55 °C when lit.
4 Temperature display LED
The LED indicates a temperature of approx. 65 °C when lit.
5 Temperature display LED (Stage III)
The LED indicates a temperature of approx. 75 °C when lit.
Note: Flashing of one of the individual LEDs 1–5 indicates
heating in this temperature range.
6 Button
The appliance can be switched between heating and frost
protection mode with button 6.
In frost protection mode the appliance will automatically
ensure that the water temperature is at approx. 10 °C, the
tank is thus protected against frost. Only red LED 9 will light.
7 Selection button +
The required temperature can be displayed and increased
with button 7.
8 Selection button –
The required temperature can be displayed and reduced with
button 8.
Note “Heat once”: If buttons 7 and 8 are pressed
simultaneously for approx. 3 seconds the tank will heat up
once to the set temperature. This temperature can be
changed with buttons 7 + and 8 – just for this “heat once”
setting. Only orange LED 9 will light. After the set
temperature is achieved the appliance will immediately
reassume the previously set operating state.
The “heat once” function is possible in heating as well as
frost protection mode.
Note: Cancel the “heat once” function by simultaneously
pressing buttons 7 and 8 (return to previous operating state)
or by pressing button 6 (frost protection mode).
9 Operational display
The LED lights red as long as the appliance is connected to
the mains supply and indicates that the tank is operational.
The LED lights orange for the “heat once” function.
The LED flashes red to indicate a malfunction.
Important: Flashing of one of the individual LEDs 1–5 in
combination with the flashing red LED 9 of the operational
display indicates the malfunction.
Operation
The appliance is switched over to heating operation with
button 6.
LED 3 lights and thus indicates the preset temperature
stage e (approx. 55 °C, factory setting). Heating
commences after about 10 seconds, LED 3 goes off and
the tank heats up to about 55 °C.
During the heating up phase the LEDs flash consecutively
and light up permanently in order to indicate the water
temperature already achieved. The set temperature is
achieved as soon as all LEDs light up.
Note: Only the set temperature will light if button + or – is
pressed.
Display set temperature
Press button 7 or 8 once in order to display the set

the corresponding LED.
Changingg set temperature
Press button 7 + to increase the set temperature or button
8 – to reduce it. The new set temperature is indicated by
lighting of the corresponding LED. Heating commences
after about 10 seconds without pressing the buttons.
During the heating up phase the LEDs light up
consecutively in order to indicate the water temperature
already achieved.
If the water temperature is higher than the newly set
temperature, all the LEDs will switch off over time until the
new water temperature is achieved.
Example: Increase set temperature
The water temperature and the set temperature are approx.
55 °C, the LEDs 1, 2 and 3 light up. The new desired
temperature is approx. 75 °C.
Press button 7 + once, only LED 3 lights and indicates the
temperature currently set.
Press button 7 + twice until LED 5 lights up.
The heating process will commence after approx. 10
seconds, LED 5 switches off, LED 1, 2 and 3 will light
again to indicate the temperature already achieved while
LED 4 flashes to indicate that heating up continues. The
set temperature is achieved as soon as all five LEDs light
up.
Example: Reduce set temperature
The water temperature and the set temperature are approx.
75 °C, all five LEDs light up. The new desired temperature is
approx. 45 °C.
Press button 8 – once, only LED 5 lights and indicates the
temperature currently set.
Press button 8 – three times until LED 2 (approx. 45 °C)
lights up.
The new value becomes effective after approx. 10
seconds and heating is discontinued. The appliance cools
down and the LEDs switch off over time until the set
temperature is reached. LEDs 1 and 2 light up.
Note: If the temperature drops, e.g. when water is used, the
heating switches back on automatically. The LED flashes
until the temperature is achieved.
Tip Water loss and scaling are at their lowest at water
temperature setting stage e (approx. 55 °C, LED 3).

If warm water is not required for an extended period, set
the tank to frost protection mode with button 6

when working on the water supply.
Error signals
LEDs 9 and 2 flash
Overheating protection has been activated.
Call customer service.

The anode is spent and must be replaced.
Customer service must be contacted as otherwise
corrosion prevention is no longer guaranteed.
The device can continue to be used for a very short time
with the “heat once” function.
LEDs 9 and 4 flash
The temperature sensor is defective.
Call customer service.
Cleaning
Clean externally with a mild cleaning agent. Do not use
aggressive or abrasive detergents!
Maintenance/Customer Service
Repairs and other maintenance work may only be
carried out by one of our authorized customer service
representatives in order to avoid potential sources of
danger.
When you contact customer service, please quote the E
and FD numbers on your appliance (Fig. A).
The first inspection must be carried out no later than 2
years subsequent to initial startup of the appliance. This
involves inspection of the protection anode which may
need to be replaced, and the appliance may need to be
cleaned and descaled. The customer service will suggest
the next inspection date for a service.
The power supply and the water supply must be shut off
before all work on the appliance.
