A HD recovery tool kit has been created for th e iQ and is available u nder following kit num-
ber.

A kit will soon be released for the iCon. The procedure will be similar to
the recovery procedure for the iQ.
Kit Contents
The delivered kit contains
• 3 DVD’s containing the image file for each iQ serie
- DVD1 : iQ Pro Graphics series (200/300/400/210/350/500)
- DVD2 : iQ Pro Reality (200/300/400)
- DVD3 : iQ Pro Reality (210/350/500)
• 1 CD containing the recovery program
• 1 crossed network cable

1.1 Introduction
Harddisk Recovery
This tool will help you to recover your Harddisk from previous failure and will allow you to
further use it and in some cases eliminate the need to replace the hard disk.
Harddisk recovery may be needed in case of i.e. non repairable virus infection, forgotten
password, b lue scre en at startup, ...
This tool will remove all data currently on the harddisk !
The recovery of the iQ Pro server Harddisk is do ne from a local PC ( Laptop), the connection
can be done by using a cro sse d cable, or over the customer’s internal network (LAN). The
image to be transferred is about 5Gb.
Using a 100MBps network, this takes about 20 minutes.
Tests showed that a recovery from a 10Mbps LAN ma y take abo ut 85 min
whereas a crossed cable connections takes 30.

The choice between LAN or P2P (crossed cable) will off course depend on
the installation ( projector access)
How does it work ?
Since t he iQ Pro server has BIOS support for booting from the network it will re bo ot via the
networkusingthedeliveredimagefileDVDinsertedonaPCsomewhereintheLANwhere
the recovery tool is running.
The recovery program runs also on the local PC and includes a wizard explaining every step,
that way on e can always follow the procedure on the local PC for additional information.
Note that the dialogboxes of this wizard are inserted in the following procedure.
Once the settings and installations completed the iQ Pro boots and copies the disk image
from the local PC (portable) onto the iQ Pro hard disk.

Point to Point recovery
Procedure should work with a local PC running Windows NT, 2K or XP.

Probably works in Win98 as well).
Whathastobedone?
1. Install the boot program on the local PC (CD 1)
2. Configure the iQ Pro to boot from the network
3. Reboot
and recover
4. Attheendoftherecovery,reconfiguretheiQProtobootfromtheharddisk
5. The Windows XP installation needs to be activated as well as the necessary services
What is needed ?
• Local PC or Laptop with a DVD reader
• Keyboard to control the iQ pro server (see note on USB keyboards)
• Windows product key : Contact your administrator or refer to the label on the bottom
of the projector.
