Quick start guide
1. Open HouseMate Home Control App
a. If this is the first time opening the app,
you will be asked if you would like to enter
Technician Mode - Select OK
b. If you are not asked to enter Technician
Mode, in the bottom right corner of the app
you will see a spanner wrench icon .
Press the wrench icon for 5-seconds to enter
Technician Mode.
i. If you see the padlock icon instead
of the spanner wrench icon, completely
close and restart the app
2. In the upper left corner of the app select Project >
Setup your Devices > HouseMate Hardware > Pair
your Hardware
3. In the pop-up window select Skip
4. In the next pop-up window select Continue
5. On the HouseMate for iOS hardware, press the
HouseMate Button
6. In the bottom right corner of the app, press the
back arrow icon to exit Technician Mode

Step 1: Install Battery
1. HouseMate for iOS ships with the internal Li-Ion
battery disconnected. Use the included Hex
Wrench to remove the three hex screws from
the bottom of HouseMate for iOS to access the
battery.
2. Connect the battery to HouseMate for iOS.
3. Once the battery is connected, use the included
mini USB wall charger to charge HouseMate for
iOS. While charging the status LED on HouseMate
for iOS will illuminate orange.
Step 3: Pair Hardware Step 4: Add IR Devices
HouseMate for iOS can control almost any infrared (IR)
controlled device. Included in the HouseMate Home
Control app are pre-loaded IR codes for some common
devices, or you can record IR signals directly into
HouseMate for iOS. To record IR signals you will need
the device remote.
Record IR Devices to HouseMate for iOS
1. Open HouseMate Home Control App
2. In the bottom right corner of the app, press the
spanner wrench icon for 5-seconds to enter
Technician Mode
a. If you see the padlock icon instead of the
spanner wrench icon, completely close and
restart the app
3. On the main screen of the HouseMate Home
Control App you will see pre-existing cells for
House, Intercom, TV, Music, DVD, TV2, Keypad,
and Stand by. Select one that you would like to
program.
Step 2: Download App
1. Download the HouseMate Home Control app
from the App Store and install on iOS device

Step 4: Add IR Devices Continued
4. Once you have selected a cell from the main
screen of the HouseMate Home Control App you
will see all of the pre-existing controls for that
device. Press and hold the cell of a function you
would like to record until the pop-up window
appears. Select Record Signal from the pop-up
window.
5. Select Record Single Code
6. Select Continue
7. The HouseMate for iOS Hardware will begin to
slowly beep. Follow instructions on screen of iOS
device.
a. HouseMate for iOS will record the length of
the IR signal in real time and will only record
for 4-seconds for a single function before it
stops recording.
b. When a signal is successfully recorded to
HouseMate for iOS, the HouseMate button on
top will quickly blink red one time
8. Repeat process for other cell functions
9. In the bottom right corner of the app, press the
back arrow icon to exit Technician Mode
Step 5: Switch Access (Optional)
Users who require an alternative method of accessing
the HouseMate Home Control App can use one or two
switches and iOS Switch Control.
Option 1: AbleNet Blue2 Bluetooth Switch
See product Quick Start Guide for Bluetooth pairing
and operation instructions.
Option 2: HouseMate for iOS and Wired Switch
1. On iOS device open Settings App > Bluetooth
2. Turn Bluetooth slide to On
3. On HouseMate for iOS hardware, press the
HouseMate Button; top will flash red
4. On iOS device, select HouseMate Switch from
available Bluetooth devices. Once paired it will say
Connected on the iOS device.
5. Plug switch into TRS jack on HouseMate for iOS
hardware
Step 5: Switch Access Continued
Once your switch is connected, configure iOS Switch
Control. To access iOS Switch Control go to Settings
App > Accessibility > Switch Control.

Time Out Setting
HouseMate will go into a sleep mode and disconnect
from your iOS device after about 5-minutes to conserve
battery life. To change this setting:
1. Open HouseMate Home Control App
2. In the bottom right corner of the app, press the
spanner wrench icon for 5-seconds to enter
Technician Mode
a. If you see the padlock icon instead of the
spanner wrench icon, completely close and
restart the app
3. In the upper left corner of the app go to Project
> Setup Your Devices > HouseMate Hardware >
Hardware Settings > Powerdown Setting/Set-Top
Mode > and choose a new Time Out setting
