Operating instructions
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements.
Intended use
The microphone ampli er is intended to amplify and manipulate audio signals. The inputs and
outputs may only be connected to the connections of audio devices.
This product may only be operated with the enclosed power supply unit. The power pack may
only be connected to a mains outlet with 230V/50Hz of the public electricity supply network. No
other electrical power supply is permitted.
The product may only be used in enclosed indoor locations, never outdoors. Contact with
moisture, for example in bathrooms, must be avoided.
Any use, other than that described above, may lead to damage to this product and involves
other risks, such as short circuit, re and electric shock.
No part of the product may be modi ed or rebuilt.
The safety instructions have to be followed without fail.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions. We do not assume any liability for any resulting
damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by incorrect handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such
cases, the warranty will be null and void.
In the operating manual, an exclamation mark inside a triangle indicates
important instructions.
The “hand” symbol indicates special information and advice on operating the
device.
Prior to commissioning, check the device for damage. If the device is damaged, you must not
use it.
For safety reasons, any unauthorised conversion and/or modi cation to the product is not
permitted.
The microphone ampli er may only be operated via the supplied power unit.
The power pack has been designed in protection class II and may only be operated on a
mains socket of the public grid.
The power unit may never be plugged in or unplugged with wet hands.
The device is still connected with the mains when it is switched off. To disconnect it from the
power supply completely, the power pack must be pulled out from the mains socket.
Check the device for damage frequently. Do not touch the power unit, the microphone ampli-
er, or the connection cable if they show visible damage. First, switch off the power at the
mains socket (e.g. with the corresponding circuit breaker), and then carefully unplug the
power supply unit from the mains socket. Do not use the product afterwards, but take it to a
specialist workshop.
Never replace a damaged connecting cable of the power pack. If the connecting cable is
damaged, the power cable is unusable and must be disposed of. Do not repair it.
Keep electrical devices out of the reach of children. For this reason, be particularly careful
when using the device in the presence of children. They may try to stick objects into the
device through openings in the casing.
Do not expose the device to high temperatures, dripping or spraying water, strong vibrations
or heavy mechanical stress.
Use the device only in temperate climate regions and not in tropical ones.
Never position vessels or containers containing liquids, such as glasses, buckets, vases or
plants, in the direct vicinity of the product. Liquids may seep into the casing and thus impair
the electrical safety of the device. Furthermore, there is a signi cant risk of re or a lethal
electric shock! In such an event, isolate the mains socket to which the product is connected
(e.g. switch off the automatic fuse) and unplug the power pack from the mains socket. After-
wards, the product can no longer be used; take it to a specialist workshop.
Do not place open sources of re such as burning candles on the device.
Never use the product without supervision.
Also observe any further safety instructions in the individual sections of this operating guide.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It may become a dangerous play-
thing for children.
If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to connect it safely,
consult a trained technician.
In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer’s Liability
Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are to be observed.
If in doubt about how to connect the product correctly, or should any questions arise that are
not answered in these operating instructions, please contact our technical service or another
specialist.

Connect the output from your audio source to the INPUT (1).
The stereo socket is suitable for instruments and line level signals. It has a high input
impedance and can process signals up to +22 dBu.
The XLR input is mainly suitable for microphones and can also provide phantom
powering. It processes signals up to +14 dBu, which is suf cient for all microphones.
The intermediate and constant input impedance covering in a wide frequency band
of this input makes a neutral sound playback of almost all microphones possible.
Connect the OUTPUT socket (2) with the input of the following audio device. A symmetric
(XLR) and an asymmetric (stereo) connection is available.
Both inputs (XLR and stereo input) as well as both outputs can be used simultane-
ously.
When using both inputs, the device ampli es the total signal of both connected input
signals.
Connecting the Power Unit
When connecting up the power unit make sure rst that the voltage data on
the type plate of the power pack is compatible with the mains voltage avail-
able. Do not connect the power unit if the data doesn’t comply with the avail-
able mains voltage. The wrong supply voltage may lead to irreparable dam-
ages to the device and involve risks for the user.
The mains socket must be in close proximity to the device and also be easily
accessible after the power unit is plugged in to ensure its fast and safe discon-
nection from the power grid in case of malfunctioning of the light effect device.
Make sure that the connection cable is not being pinched or damaged by
sharp edges.
If you do not use the device, unplug the power plug to switch the device off.
Plug the low-voltage plug of the power unit into the PWR 9VAC socket (3).
Plug the power unit into the mains socket.
As soon as the microphone ampli er is supplied with current the operation indicator (6) is lit.
red > limiter is active or delay when switching on
green > ready for operation
Operation
Connect the device to the power supply as described above.
Adapt the input sensitivity to input signal using the INPUT controller (7) control.
The control range of the INPUT controller (7) can be extended with the GAIN switch (8) by
+20 dB. The GAIN switch (8) should be pressed down for microphone signals; it should not
be pressed down for line level signals.
Adjust the volume of the output signal with the OUTPUT controller (11).
Use the VU-meter (4) for guidance when adjusting input sensitivities and output volume. It
shows a reading of the output volume of the microphone ampli er. When OPL is activated (see
VOICING controller (5)), overdrive is prevented by the built-in limiter. Avoid overdrive exceed-
ing the 0 dB mark when OPL is not activated.
The operating display (6) not only shows the readiness for operation (green) but also distor-
tions or activation of the limiter (red). When OPL is not activated, the operating display (6)
must only light up brie y in red. If it is lit up in red for longer, lower the input volume using
the INPUT controller (7). The operating display is lit up during activated OPL when the limiter
limits the signal automatically.
The VOICING controller (5) can be used to adjust sound characteristics to your application
and taste. The different settings are explained in more detail further below in these instruc-
tions. In the OPL range, a limiter is activated automatically for the output to avoid overdrive.
Experiment a little with the pre-settings in order to achieve the optimal effect.
A condenser microphone without its own power supply can be powered with integrated phan-
tom powering if it is connected to the XLR input. To do this, press the P-PWR switch (9).
When the switch is pressed down, a direct current of 48 V is present at the pins 2 and 3 of the
XLR input.
Before switching the P-PWR switch (9) on or off, please turn the OUTPUT controller
(11) to a minimum and wait for 30-45 seconds to avoid interfering noises.
The PHASE REVERSE switch (10) reverses the phase of the output signal. This may be
useful when e.g. two microphones transmit the same acoustic source from different locations.
The sound may be hollow or thin due to phase shift. In such cases, try to press the PHASE
REVERSE switch (10) to improve the sound.
