Donot operatedamaged appliances.

Overheatedfat or oil can easilycatch fire. If youare
cookingwith fator oil, e.g. chips, etc., never leave

Caution! Over-greasedfiltersare a firerisk!Only
ever deep-fryunder the extractorunderconstant
supervision. Pay attentionto cleaningthe grease
filteron a regular basis.
Fire risk!Do notflambé meals under the extractor
hood!
Operationof the extractor hood above ahearthfor
solidfuels (coal or woodetc.)is onlypartly
permitted.
Gasappliances mayonly be used under the
extractorhood when pots and pansareplaced on
them!
Donot operateall hotplatessimultaneously overa
prolongedperiod (max. 15 minutes)at maximum
thermalload, otherwisethereis a risk of burns from
touching the housing surfaces or a risk of damaging
theextractorhood. When operating the extractor
hoodabove a hob, operatethehood at maximum
settingif threeor morehotplatesareon at the same
time.
Theappliance is not intendedforuse by young
childrenor infirmed persons without supervision.
Youngchildren should be supervisedto ensure they
donot playwith the appliance.
Donot let adults orchildrenoperatethe appliance
unsupervised:
if they are mentallyor physicallyunableto use the
appliancesafelyand correctly,
if they don’thave the knowledge and experience
to use the appliance safelyand correctly.
Whenchildren become old enough to operatethe
appliance,it is the legal responsibilityof the
parentsor legal guardiansto ensurethatthey are
instructedinsafepracticesby qualified persons.
Donot place anyheavyobjects on the appliance.
Donot clean the appliance with a steamcleaning
apparatusor with water pressurebecause this
posesa risk of short-circuits.
Adequateincoming air must beensuredif a wood,
coal,gasor oil heateror an open hearthisoperated
inthesame room as the one in which the hood is
installed.
Safeoperationis possible whenever the partial
vacuum in the place where the firing equipmentis
installeddoes not exceed4Pa (0.04 mbar). This
canbe achieved whenever the air needed for
combustionis able to enterthroughopenings that
cannotbe sealed, forexample in doors, windows,
incoming/exhaustair wallboxes or other technical
means.

Installationinstructions).
Thisextractorhoodisdesigned fordomestic use
only.
Ifmalfunctions should occur,contact yourdealer or
Gaggenauafter-sales service.In doing so, please
specifythemodel number concerned (therating
plateis under the grease filter).

Operation
Thecontrol panel is built intothe handle railof the
screenslide and is locatedon the right hand side.
Afterinstallation, the unit can be operatedfromthe
front.
Afteractivation,all function selection keys withthe
exceptionof the OFF key („Motor off")are back-lit
ingreen.
Light
Thelighting can be switched on or off,regardless
ofwhether the extractor is in operation,by pressing
the0 key(see Fig. 3).
Fan levels
Threefanspeeds and one intensivespeedare
available(see Fig.4).
Youset the fanlevel required to suit yourneeds by
pressingthe function selectorkeys 1, 2, 3 or Int.
Thecorrespondingindicatorlamp on the control
panellights up.

TheInt keyforthe intensivelevel should bepressed
whenbrowningand fryingin an open pan.

Ifyouhave switched on the hood by selecting the
intensive level, itwillbeswitched offagain
automaticallyafter5 minutes.
Ifyoupress the Int key while the hood is running at
fan level 1, 2 or 3 the electroniccontrol will switch
backautomaticallyto the previously selectedfan
levelafter 5 minutes(see Fig.6).
Pressthe OFF key (motoroff)if youwish to switch
off the intensivelevel before
the5minute period
haselapsed (see Fig.7).You can switch offthe
hood’sextraction function at anytime by pressing
theOFF key(motor off).

Special functions
Intensive:
Youcan set the hood on intensivefor 3, 5 or
10 minutesby simultaneously pressingthe Int key
andthe1, 2 or 3 key and you can store this setting
(seeFig.8). When delivered,the appliance is setto
fiveminutes,i.e. the combination of the Int key and
thekey 2.
After-runninglevel:
Youcan set and storethe after-running level by
simultaneouslypressing the key r and the key 1, 2
or3 (see Fig.9).
Level2, i.e. the combination of the keyr andthe
key 2, areset at the factory.
Theafter-running time forall settingsisten
minutes.The ventilationand lighting functions
switchoffautomaticallyafterthis time.
Interval ventilation:
Intervalventilationis a special feature of this
appliancewhich activatesthe fanforfiveminutes
everyhour. You can activatethis function by
simultaneouslypressing the OFF key and the 1, 2 or
3 keydepending on the required extractioncapacity
(seeFig.10).
Thismode of operating is indicatedby alternating
Illuminationof thekey r together with the
correspondingfan level indicator.
Youcan switch offinterval ventilation by pressing
thekey OFF.

Cleaning and care
Thegrease filter saturationdisplayF flashes after
operating30 hours to indicateyouthat youshould
cleanthegrease filter(see Fig. 2). It goes without
sayingthatthegreasefilter can be cleanedatany
time,evenif thegrease filtersaturation displayis
notflashing.
Themetal grease filterscan be removedeasilyfor
cleaning(see Fig.12):
Gripthe handle railof the grease filterand pull the
greasefilter towardsyouout of the unit.
Themetal grease filterscan be cleaned in a dish-
washer at a maximum temperatureof65°C
(149 °F), whereitshouldbe supported vertically
to
allowfoodor residue to drainoff.
Slightdiscolorations mayoccur when cleaning
metalfilters inadishwasher.
Ifpossible, theinner partsof the housing should be
wipedout with hot water when replacing the filters.
Thesound insulation mats can be cleaned easily.
Avoid using pointedor roughobjects when cleaning
them.
Aftercleaning it, re-insert the greasefilterin the
hoodin theposition fromwhere youremoved it.
Thegrease filter saturationdisplayis resetby
pressingthe F key. Flashingoftheindicatinglamp
goesoff.
Note:
Activated charcoalfiltersdonotcontain any
pollutingsubstances. Theycan be disposed of
through the normal refuse collection channels.

Recirculating air mode
Ifyoudecided to purchasethe hood with circulating
aircapability,you must replace the activated
charcoalfilter(optional) afteracertain periodof
operation(see Fig. 14). If used once daily, the
charcoalfiltermust bereplaced approximatelyonce
to twice annually:First remove the grease filterfrom
themount.As shown in Fig. 14, remove the
activatedcharcoalfilterfrom the extractortowards
you and replace the old one by a newactivated
charcoalfilter.

Viewing window
Theviewing windowconsisting of hardenedglass
shouldbe cleaned as needed. It can be removed in
theupward directionafter pulling out the smoke
screen.The viewingwindow canbecleanedina
dishwasher.
Cleanthecontrolpanel with a moist cloth and a
littledetergent.
Donot use brushes or abrasiveagents suchas
scrubbingcleaners.

Firstremove the greasefilter.
Detachthe lamp cover by removingthe screws that
securethe lamp cover to the inside of the housing.
Remove the securing clip and first pull the
fluorescentlamp downwards out of the plastic
holderand thenhorizontallyout of the socket.
Defectivefluorescent lamps mustonly be
replaced by lamps of the same type.

isavailable from specialist dealers or your
Gaggenauafter-sales service.
Insert the new fluorescentlamp in the socketso
thatitaudibly engages. Then pressthelamp
securelyintothe plastic holder and close the
securingclip onto the holder.The lampisnow
secureagainst droppingout.
Cleanthelamp cover inmilddetergent and then
secureit on the hood again.
Connecttheunit to the power again.
Note:
Asstandard,your hood contains a fluorescent tube
withthe colour „bright white".Thisensures
optimumillumination of yourcooking area. Ifyou
wisha differentcolour,youcan orderthe colours
„warm tone" and „Interna”fromyourspecialist
dealer.

Installation

a.) Installationworkandelectrical wiring must be
doneby qualified person(s) in accordance with
allapplicable codes and standards,including
fire-rated construction.
b.) Sufficientair is needed forproper combustion
endexhaustingof gases throughthe flue
(chimney)offuelburningequipment to prevent
backdrafting.Follow the heating equipment
manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards
suchas those published by the National Fire
ProtectionAssociation (NFPA),and the
AmericanSociety forHeating, Refrigeration
andAir Conditioning (ASHRAE), and the local
codeauthorities.
c.) When cutting or drillingintowallor ceiling, do
notdamage electrical wiring and other hidden
utilities.
d.) Ductedfansmust always be vented to the
outdoors.
e.) NEVER place a switch whereit can be reached
froma tub or shower.

WARNING:
The applicable regulationsof the energy supply
companies and theregional construction
regulations must be observed when installingthe
hood.
Minimum distancebetweenelectric cooktop and
bottomedge of hood: 18 1/2” (47 cm)
Minimum distanceon gas cooktops between the
upper edge of thegrate and lower edge of the
hood: 26” (65 cm)
Connection possibilities
Thewall hood wasconceivedforthe exhaustair or
air recirculationmode. The exhaust air can be
routedinto a separateexhaust air shaftor directly
intothe open through the outside wall.
Itis not allowed to pass theexhaust air intoaflue
orexhaustair chimneythat is in operation or intoa
shaft that is linkedto theheatingbasement.
Consultthechimneysweepresponsibleforyour
districtwhenever youwish to passtheexhaust air
intoa chimneythat is not inoperation.
During thecourse of planning, a chimneysweep
mustbe consulted ifaroom air-dependent hearth
isoperatedinthesameroom as the one in whicha
hoodis operatedintheexhaust air mode. Adequate
incomingair must be ensured. The applicable
constructionand safety regulations must be
observed.
Adequateincoming air must beensuredif a wood,
coal,gasor oil heateror an open hearthisoperated
inthesame room as the one in which the hood is
installed.
Safeoperationis possible whenever the partial

Grounding Instructions
Theappliance mustbe grounded. Intheeventof an
electricalshort circuit,grounding reduces the risk
ofelectric shock by providing an escape wirefor
theelectriccurrent.This appliance is equippedwith
acord havinga grounding wirewitha grounding
plug.The plug must be plugged intoan outlet that is
properlyinstalled and grounded.
WARNING IMPROPER GROUNDING CAN
RESULT IN A RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK.
Consulta qualified electrician if the
groundinginstructions arenotcompletely
understood,or if doubt existsas to whether the
applianceis properly grounded.
Donot use an extensioncord. Ifthe power supply
cordis tooshort,have a qualified electrician install
anoutlet near the appliance.

Repairs mayonlybecarriedout by authorized
electricianin order to guaranteethesafetyof the
appliance.Unauthorized tampering with the

appliancemust always be disconnectedfrom the
powersupplywhen being repaired.
Oldappliances are not worthlessrubbish. Valuable
rawmaterialscan be reclaimed by recyclingold
appliances.Beforedisposing of yourold appliance,
render it unusable.

Theextractorhoodcanbe used in exhaustair or
circulatingair mode.
Alwaysmount the extractor hood over the centre of
thehob.
Theextractorhoodmustnot be installed over a
solidfuel cooker a potential fire hazard(e.g.flying
sparks) unlessthecooker featuresaclosed, non-
removable cover andall national regulationsare
observed.
Thesmaller thegap betweenthe extractorhoodand
hotplates,the greaterthe likelihoodthat droplets
willform on the underside of the extractorhood.
Additional informationconcerning gas cookers:
Wheninstalling gas hotplates,comply with the
relevant national statutory regulations (e.g. in
Germany:TechnischeRegelnGasinstallation
TRGI).
Always complywith the currently valid regulations
andinstallation instructions supplied by thegas
appliancemanufacturer.
Onlyone side of the extractorhoodmaybe installed
nextto a high-sided unit or high wall.Gap at least
2”.

Thehood featuresan upwardblow-outopening.
For layingthrough theoutside wall,we recommend
useof our telescopicwallbox TM 150-045.
Note:
To prevent the penetrationof water, e.g.
condensationor rainwater froman uncovered
exhaust air shaft,intothe hood, our condensation
collectorRV 060- 150 must be fittedin the
proximity ofthehood.Thecondensation collector
muststill be accessible after installation.
Circulating air operation

Theair baffleissecuredon the cabinet front,
blowingout towardsthe front. The distance
betweenthehoodand theair bafflemust be
bridgedwith a pipe consisting of non-combusting
material.The air out ofthe baffle must be capable
offlowing backintothe room without obstruction.
Whenusing a panel reachingup to the ceiling,
producean opening in this panel.
Note on woodenfront panel:
Thehood's handle railcannot be replaced by a
wooden front panel.

Thehood can be installed in an upper cabinet
without a base. Refer to Fig. 15 fordimensions.
Ifno corresponding cabinet is available, remove the
basefrom a commerciallyavailable cabinet.
Theupper cabinet must have a minimumdepthof
295mm (11 13/32") (clear width of interior)and a
minimumheight of 450 mm (17 23/32").
Usingtheincluded screws, fit the retaining
brackets on the inside of the suspendedcabinet
(Fig.17). The retaining bracketsmust be mounted
flushwith the bottomand front edges of the cabinet
ata distance of 33 mm (1 3/10”).
Usingtheside mounting rails, place the hood on the
pre-fittedretaining brackets and slide it towardsthe
rear intothe cabinet (Fig.18).The screen slide is
thenflushwiththe bottomedgeof the cabinet.
Laterally align the hood. Use the included sheet
metalsscrews to bolt down the retaining bracket
andthemounting rail on the leftand right.
Thenfit the included plastic Covers ontothe
mountingrails.Use a knifeto cut the plasticcovers
to size if upper cabinetsmeasure 55 cm (21 5/8”) in
widthor if cabinets have a wallthickness of more
than16mm (5/8”).
$ CAUTION:Usecare when cutting the space
rail and cover sizeto prevent personalinjury.
Cuttheincluded spacer rail to sizeso that it
bridgesthe distance betweenthe rearedge of the
hoodand thewallbehind it.
Remove the lamp Cover (seeLampreplacement)
andbolt thespacer rail to therear panel of the unit.
Laytheairpipes and connect the unit to the power
mains.
