Notusingsafetransportingmethodscandamagethe
equipmentandcausedeathorseriousinjury.
Alwaysusetractorsorskidsteersthatareproperly

Usetractorswithwidefrontaxlesonlyandmoveall
tractorwheelsouttotheirwidestpositionfor
maximumstability.
Alwayswhentravellingempty,transportwithspearat
asafeheightandanglethatwillnotimpaleaperson
orlivestock.
Whenstopped,alwayslowerspearpointtothe
groundsothatnopersonorlivestockcanwalk/run
intothespearandbecomeimpaled.Ifspearwillnot
restontheground,pointspeardowntoprotect
peopleandlivestock.
Alwayskeepbalecenteredhorizontallyonthespear.
Thiswilloptimizestabilitywhiletransporting.
Alwaystransportwithbaleraisedtoaheightthat
doesnothinderthelineofsightwhendrivingforward.
Whenpossible,placethebalelowtothegroundto
helpmaintainstabilityoftheskidsteer/tractor.
Reducegroundspeedwhenturningandleave
enoughclearancetoavoidmakingcontactwith
obstaclessuchasbuildings,trees,andfences.
Transportingbalesoverramps,grades,bumpy,soft,
orslipperysurfacesreducesmachinestabilityandlift
capacity.Transportingandliftingbalesunderthese
conditionsisextremelydangerous.
Alwaystravelstraightupandstraightdowninclines.
Nevermaketurnswhileonaninclineandalways
keepthespearpointliltedup5-10degreesfrom
horizontalregardlessoftheangleoftheincline.
Alwaystransportoverrampsandinclinesinexcess
of10degreeswithbaleontheuphillsideofthe
machine.Thiswillrequireonetodriveupandback
downsteepinclines.
Keepequipmentawayfromelectricalpowerlines.
Placeanorangewarningsignunderoverhead
electricalpowerlinesindicatingtypeofdangerabove.
Whentravelingonpublicroadsatnightorduringthe
day,useaccessorylightsanddevicesforadequate
warningtooperatorsofothervehicles.Complywith
allfederal,state,andlocallaws.
Whentravelingonroadways,transportinsuchaway
thatfastermovingvehiclesmaypassyousafely.
