Intended use
WIDEX REMOTE CAREgives you real-time hearing assistance, simply by connecting you
with your hearing care professional through your smartphone.
That way you can fit fine-tuning into your busy schedule and save time from going to the
clinic. You can explain your hearing challenges from the comfort of your own home, or
wherever it makes sense for you. And you don’t have to try to remember every hearing
situation for your next appointment at the clinic.
With Widex Remote Care you get hearing support on the spot, so you can gain confidence
in your hearing and your hearing aid.
Compatibility
Apple devices:
The Widex Remote Care app is compatible with all Apple devices with the iOS version 11.0
and higher. Not compatible with Apple Watch.
Android devices:
The Widex Remote Care app is compatible with most Android devices with the OS version
Android 6.0 and higher.

Installation
You can find and download the Remote Care app for free in your Apple App Store or
Google Play Store.
To access the app, tap on the Remote Care app icon that appears on your screen after
successful installation.
Read and accept the terms and conditions and privacy policy.

Tips before pairing and making calls
Having a conversation through the Remote Care app is a different experience than having
a conversation at the clinic. Before you get started, here are a few tips for making your
remote appointment a success.
1. Make sure your hearing aids, smartphone and Remote Link are fully charged.
2. Enable Bluetooth.
3. Find a quiet spot to have the conversation.
4. Hold your smartphone as still as possible during the conversation for instance by
using a smartphone stand.
5. Keep the camera pointing at your head, so your hearing care professional can see
you.
6. If you want to switch between the front-facing or back-facing camera while in a
meeting, press the icon in the bottom right corner.
7. Stay focused during your meeting; do not take other calls or try to multitask.
Pairing
Your hearing care professional will set up the Remote Link, but it needs to be paired with
your mobile device too.
Pairing with Android device
1. Press ‘Get started’ to start pairing.
2. To pair your phone with Remote Link select ‘Next’.
3. Make sure to enable Bluetooth. Press ‘Enable’.
4. Grant Location Access. Apps using Bluetooth are required to have location access
enabled. But don't worry, we will not use your location without asking you first.
Press ‘Grant access’.
5. While Remote Link is turned off, press and hold the button for 5 seconds until the
light indicator is blinking blue. Press ‘Next’. Your phone will scan for nearby
Remote Links in paring mode.
6. When setup is successful press ‘Ok’.
7. You are now ready to join a meeting.
Pairing with Apple device
1. Press ‘Get started’ to start pairing.
2. Read and grant access to Collection of your data. Press ‘Accept’.
3. To pair your phone with Remote Link select ‘Next’.
4. While Remote Link is turned off, press and hold the button for 5 seconds until the
light indicator is blinking blue. Press ‘Next.

5. Select your Accessory. Your phone will scan for nearby Remote Links in paring
mode.
6. When setup is successful press ‘Ok’.
7. You are now ready to join a meeting.
Having problems?
- Make sure Remote Link is in pairing mode and try again.
- Multiple Remote Links found: Make sure there is only one Remote Link in parring
mode, and try again.
- Remote Link is not ready for pairing? Your hearing care professional needs to
register Remote Link in the fitting software before pairing.
- Try to update the app and try again.

How to join a remote appointment
Open the Remote Care app.
Make sure that you are connected to the internet.
Turn on the Remote Link by pressing the power button for 2 seconds, and make sure the
Remote Link is connected to your device. As soon as the meeting is started, your hearing
care professional will be able to connect to your hearing aids.
Select ‘Join meeting’ in the app and wait for your hearing care professional to join.
Give the Remote Care app permission to access to microphone and camera so your
hearing care professional can see and hear you.
Now you are ready to have your remote appointment.
How to end a remote appointment
When the remote meeting is about to end, let your hearing care professional end the call
to make sure all the changes to your hearing aid are saved.
When the meeting has ended, you can close the app.
Press ‘Leaveto leave the meeting.

When you have a scheduled appointment with your hearing care professional, tap ‘Join
meeting’.

Press the ‘Menu’ icon in the top left corner on your ‘Main page’.
Remote Link
Here you can find information about your Remote Link.
To make a new pairing, press ‘New pairing’.

Symbols

Manufacturer

Important safety information
Intended use/intended purpose:
Widex wants to offer the HCP a possibility to make a remote meeting with the client. This
shall include a finetuning session via a mobile device: phone, and later also a tablet. The
REMOTE CARE app shall make communication between the client and the HCP possible.
The app is intended to function with a programming interface and Hearing Aids (HAs) and
a secure peer-to-peer connection to the HCP, so that the HCP can finetune the HAs from a
different location.

Performance
The app is an accessory for the hearing aid. So, contraindication for use of the app is
derived from the contraindication of the compatible hearing aid.
This app itself is free from residual risk, as it only allows to personalize and adjust comfort
functions of the hearing aid in the limited range specified by the hearing aid after the
fitting procedure.
The app itself carries no clinical performance as it does not serve a clinical, therapeutic or
diagnostic purpose.
Notice:
No additional training is needed to use this app safely.
If you encounter problems connecting the app with your hearing aid,
consult your hearing care professional.
Lock phone with PIN, finger print and/or face and set phone to lock
automatically
In case of a serious incident, contact the manufacturer of the device app.
