AT LG ITS NOT
TECHNOLOGY ITSELF
THAT INSPIRES US.
At LG it isn’t technology that gets
us out of bed in the morning. It
isn’t even an alarm clock,
although that plays its part, it’s
the desire to see the technology
that we invent delight, inspire
and improve your life. Ever since
we designed and invented our
first radio in 1958 to deliver
entertainment and inspiration
directly into people’s homes LG
has always been driven by a
belief that tomorrow can be
better than today and that
technology, now more than ever,
can play its part in improving the
lives of everyone all over the
world. It is this energy that
pushes us on to discover what
makes life good for you today so
that we continue to design
technology that both solves your
problems and makes you smile.
HOME ENTERTAINMENT
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY,
BEAUTIFULLY HIDDEN.
This is what we bring to the world
of Home Entertainment.
Whatever you love viewing or
listening to, TV, DVD, Games or
Music, and wherever you want to
enjoy them weve been pushing
the limits of technology to help
make your experience even better.
With a huge range of LCDs, Plasmas,
Home Cinema, Audio, DVD and
Blu-ray products, we know that
you’ll find the solution to the most
testing Home Entertainment
demands somewhere in this
brochure. And because we know
that you want technology to look as
good on the outside as well as it
performs on the inside you’ll find
products that perform on every
level in any home environment.

What to look for in a TV
There are some important
things to think about when
you’re trying to choose the
perfect TV to suit you or your
family’s needs. The following
information will guide you in
making the right choice.
What to choose:
LCD or Plasma?
Both technologies provide
advantages depending on what
you watch and where the TV set
will be positioned. LG LCD and
Plasma TVs are sleek, thin,
state-of-the-art, and capable of
displaying stunning, high-
definition pictures. So, first
thing’s first
Benefits of Plasma TV
Large screen sizes:
LG Plasma TVs range from
42” to 60.
Watching sport and movies:
Plasma TVs provide superb
black level and response times
which are perfect for fast
action viewing. LG Plasma
TVs boast 600Hz sub-field
driving to provide a 0.001
second response time, so
you’ll never miss a piece of
the action.
Benefits of LCD Display
Higher brightness and
HD Ready 1080p (Full HD)
resolution from 22” to 47
to maximise the benefit of
HD gaming and Blu-ray.
Versatility in screen sizes
(LG offer an extensive range
from 19” to 47”).
Low power consumption.
Wall mounting, as LCD TVs
weigh less than Plasma TVs.
Sometimes TV choices come
down to screen sizes:
LG LCD TVs available in:
19, 22, 26, 32, 37, 42, 47.
LG Plasma TVs available in:
42”, 50”, 60.

THINGS TO CONSIDER
WHAT DO I NEED TO WATCH HD?
Just because you have an HD
Ready TV doesn’t necessarily
mean youre watching in HD.
To enjoy HD you will need:
A HDTV (HD Ready or
HD Ready 1080p)
A set-top box or a TV with Freesat
HD built-in to receive HD
signals such as the LG LF7700
Freesat HD TV Series.
A Blu-ray player or Blu-ray
Home Cinema System.
What is HD Ready TV?
High Definition
Television (HDTV) sets
a new standard of TV with far
superior picture and sound
quality than normal TV that
eliminates picture imperfections.
There are two formats of HD:
HD Ready and HD Ready 1080p.
What is HD Ready 1080p
(Full HD) TV?
To get the very best in
High Definition
entertainment choose
HD Ready 1080p. It’s the only
way to fully experience the true
potential of high definition
gaming and Blu-ray which takes
you even closer to the action.
Benefits of HDTV:
Enhanced picture quality:
Allows for richer colours,
deeper blacks and sharper
pictures when watching your
favourite TV programmes.
High resolution: TV sets are
made up of a number of dots
or pixels. The higher the
resolution the more pixels are
used to create the picture
which results in a crisper and
sharper image.
Enhanced sound quality: Most
high-definition programmes
broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1
surround sound, providing a
cinematic experience. Dolby
Digital 5.1 is now available
from satellite broadcasts
(e.g. Sky and Freesat), Blu-ray,
DVDs and HD Games Consoles.
Widescreen display: Enjoy a
bigger, better picture and
cinema-style viewing experience
with a widescreen TV. With a
16:9 format, you get the full
benefit of watching true
widescreen television.
All LG TVs are HD Ready or
HD Ready 1080p and have
Digital Freeview built-in.
Just keep an eye out for the
corresponding HD logo.
WHAT IS FREESAT?
The only way to
watch HD TV
programmes
without a monthly contract is
through Freesat HD, a digital
satellite TV service brought to
you by the BBC and ITV (see
page 17 for LG Freesat HD TV or
look out for the Freesat HD logo).
WHAT IS BLU-RAY?
Blu-ray is the next
generation of digital
discs and produce six
times better picture
quality than a standard
DVD. Blu-ray technology
maximises your HDTV
to its full potential by providing
the highest resolution 1080p
picture and uncompressed high
quality sound.To connect, simply
plug the Blu-ray player into a
HD Ready or HD Ready 1080p
(Full HD) TV using a HDMI cable
and enjoy your favourite Blu-ray
movie in brilliant high definition.
Unlike the change from VHS to
DVD, Blu-ray technology does
not mean that you need throw
away your DVD collection. All
Blu-ray players will playback your
current DVDs and also up-scale
them to improve the picture
quality. Blu-ray players also offer
extra features such as BD Live,
which enables you to access free
movie content, movie trailers,
games and interactive quizzes via
a broadband Internet connection.
