information.
CAUTION:
This cooktop should be installed by a qualified
installer or service technician.
Do not store items of interest to children in cabinets
above the cooktop. They could be seriously burned
climbing on the cooktop to reach them.
To eliminate the risk of burns or fire by reaching
over heated surface elements, cabinet storage
located above the surface units should be avoided. If
cabinet storage space is to be provided, the risk can
be reduced by installing a range hood that projects
horizontally a minimum of 5" beyond the bottom of
the upper cabinets. Cabinet installation above the
countertop unit should be not deeper than 13".
Never use your cooktop for warming or heating the
room. Prolonged use of the cooktop without
adequate ventilation can be hazardous.
The cooktop should be easy to reach and lighted by
natural light during the day.
Always disconnect the electrical service to the unit
before repairing or servicing the cooktop. Discon-
nect the fuse or circuit breaker. Failure to do so
could result in a dangerous or fatal shock. Know
where your main disconnect switch is located.
Check local building codes for the proper method of
cooktop installation. Local codes vary. Installation,
electrical connections and grounding must comply
with applicable codes. In the absence of local codes,
the cooktop should be installed in accordance with
the National Code ANSI/NFPA 70-1990.

Installation template
Important:
Corners must be curved or angled as shown on the
installation template. Failure to do may result in a noticeable gap
between the cooktop and the countertop.
Caution:
Use template
provided to obtain required
1/2" radius cut or angle cut.
Caution:
Wallcoverings,
countertops and cabinets should
withstand 200°F heat generated
by the cooktop.
Install the junction box within reach of the power
cord, at least 16" below the countertop.
Place the template on the countertop at the desired
location and tape into place.
Mark the center point of corner circles.
Drill 1/8" pilot hole in center point of each corner.
Carefully drill 1" diameter corner holes, using the
pilot holes to maintain accuracy.
Option: Corners may be cut at an angle as shown on
the template. If this option is used, cut along
the dotted line.
Draw lines with a straight edge connecting the
corner holes (or angle cut), using the template as
a guide.
Cut along these lines to complete the entire cutout.
Smooth rough edges before installing the cooktop.
To insure accuracy, the template provided with the
installation instructions should be used when cutting
the opening.
Countertop cutout for halogen and ribbon cooktop
must be:
33-7/8" wide,
19-1/16" deep.
Allow at least 1-1/2" clearance between rear of
cutout and rear backsplash or wall.
Allow at least 2" on left side and 2" on right side of
cutout for clearance between cutout and adjacent
walls.
Allow at least 2-1/2" from cutout to front edge of
countertop.
Depth of cooktop at conduit location (left rear) is
4-3/4". This cooktop requires an additional 5" free-
space below cooktop bottom to combustible
materials. This cooktop is approved for installation
above a single Monogram oven. (5" free-space is not
required.)
