TheRV550isdesignedtogiveacontinuousflowofhotwaterforaslongasrequiredand
maintainaconstantwatertemperature.Thetemperatureonyourwaterheaterhasbeen
factorysettothehottestsettingapproximately120+°F.Atemperatureadjustmentmaybe
required,basedonincomingwatertemperature,duringsummerorwintermonthsto
decreaseorincreaseoutgoingwatertemperature.Thetemperaturecanbeadjustedby
turningthetemperatureadjustment(summer/winter)clockwiseorcounterclockwiseto
maintainacomfortablewatertemperature.Beawaretheheateriscapableofproducing
dangerouslyhottemperaturesthatcouldresultinsevereinjury.RefertotheServiceManual
orcallPrecisionTempforassistanceifneeded.
Theheaterisdormantuntilahotwatertapisopened.Thehotwatertapmustbecompletely
openedtostarttheheatingprocessthenthrottledbacktoproduceveryhotwater.The
heaterwillnotfireatverylowflows;i.e.,under0.5GPM.Whenadjustingwatertemperature
byaddingcoldwateritisbesttostartwithhotonlyandslowlyaddcoldintothemixuntilthe
desiredtemperatureisreached.
NOTE:Whenusingan"on/off"buttononashowerheadoranoutsidewashdownbox,always
turnoffthehotandcoldwatervalveswhenfinished.Notdoingsowillresultincoldwater
bleedingintothehotwaterplumbing.
DryCamping
RVshowerheadsaredesignedtodripwhenturnedoffandwillallowthehotwaterlinetobe
filledwithcoldwater.Whenshoweringitisrecommendedthatyouleavethewaterrunning
asyouwouldathome.Youwillnotrunoutofhotwaterandyouwillnotwasteadditional
waterwaitingforthecoldwatertopurgefromthewaterlineeverytimethewateristurned
backon.
WinterOperation
WhenoperatingtheRV500incoldclimateconditionstheflowofwatermayhavetobeslightly
restrictedorslowedatthefaucettomaintainthesettemperatureof120+degrees.
NOTE:YourRV550isequippedwiththeColdWeatherProtectionPackage. The12vdcpower
andpropanemustbeleftontoprotecttheRV550fromfreezingincoldclimateconditions.
WinterDrivingInstructions:Undernocircumstancesshouldyoutravelinfreezingconditions
withoutfirstdrainingwaterfromtheunit.Freezingisnotcoveredundertheproduct
warranty.

WinterDrivingDrainingInstructions
1. Turnoffwatersupply.
2. Openallhotwaterfaucets.
3. Opentheplumbinglowpointdrain.
4. RemovetheRV550doorandopenthePressureReliefValvebymovingthelevertothe
openposition.
5. ThewaterlinesandtheRV550willnowdrain.
6. WhenallwaterisdrainedfromthehotwaterlinesleavethePressureReliefValveand
hotwaterfaucetsopenwhiledriving.
7. Theheaterisnowsafetodriveinfreezingtemperatures.
8. OnceyourdestinationisreachedclosetheRV550PressureReliefValveandclosethe
drainvalve.Turnonwatersupply,onceairispurgedfromthelinescloseallhotwater
faucetsandturnonpower.
RoutineMaintenance
Allfaucetaeratorsandshowerheadscreensshouldbecleanedregularly.Itisrecommended
thattheRV550beinspectedbyaqualifiedservicetechnicianatleastonceayear.Particular
attentionshouldbepaidtothefollowing:
1.Inspecttheairinletopeningsandflueareatobeclearofanydebrisorobstructions,(leaves,
bugnests,spiderwebs,etc.)
2.Checkthattheheatermountingissecuretothecoachandtherearenoareasforpotential
waterleaks.
3.Openthecoveroftheheaterandinspectfordebris.Inspectthepowerventexhaust
openingandtheclearairpressureswitchtubefordebrisorobstructions.Cleanifneeded.
4.Visuallyinspectwiring.Besurethereisnochafingoftheinsulation.Besurethatthedirect
sparkignitioncable(blackwire)issecuredtotheelectrodeattheburner.Ifanywiringis
chaffedordamagedinanywayrepairasneeded.
5.Checkforsootaroundtheexhaustopening.Sootisasignofincompletecombustion.Ifyou
findsootbuildupcallaqualifiedservicetechniciantocorrecttheproblem.
6.Thepressurereliefvalveshouldbemanuallyactivatedonceayearbymovingtheleveron
thetopofthevalve90°whilepoweristurnedoff.Neverperformthisoperationwhilethe
burnerisoperatingorscaldingcouldoccur.Neverplugthepressurereliefvalve.Ifthevalveis
actuatingtoofrequentlyreplacevalveorcontactPrecisionTemp.
7.Unplugallconnectorsandreconnectwithpowerturnedoff.Inspectandcleancorrosion
fromthegroundwireconnection.
NOTE:Shouldoverheatingoccurorthegassupplyfailstoshutoff,turnoffgasvalveatthe
supplytank.Immediatelycallaqualifiedservicetechnician
WARNING:Alwaysturnoffthe12voltpowersupplytotheheaterwhilethevehicleis
movingandduringanyfuelingoperations.Operatingthiswaterheateroranyotherignition
sourceduringfuelingcouldcauseafireorexplosionwhichcouldresultinseriousinjuryor
death.TryingtoproducehotwaterwhiledrivingormovingmaydamagetheRV550electrical
componentsandcauseafire.
IMPORTANTCOLDWEATHERPROTECTIONINFORMATION
WARNING:
Donotdisconnecttheelectricalsupplyorturnoffthepropanesupplywhen
temperaturesarenearorbelowfreezing.TheRV550freezeprotectionsystem
willnotworkiftheelectricalpowersourceorpropaneisdisconnected.
WARNING:Undernocircumstancesshouldyoutravelduringfreezing
conditionswithoutturningpoweroffanddrainingwaterfromtheRV550.
WINTERIZING
Draining
1.TurnoffthepowerandgassupplytotheRV550.
2.Turnoffmainwatersupply.
3.Openallhotwatertaps.(Bathroom,kitchen,laundry,etc.)
4.Drainallwaterfromplumbinglines.
5.OpenpressurereliefvalvetodrainremainingwaterfromtheRV550.
6.Aftercompletelydrainingthesystemitcanbewinterized,formost
RV’s,bypurgingtheremainingwateroutofwaterlineswithcompressedairor
pumpingRVantifreezesolutionthroughthehotandcoldwatersystem.The
heaterholdsapproximatelyonepintofwater.
