This user guide is based on the standards and regulations that are valid within the
European Union. Also the country specific directives and laws outside of the EU.
Reading and storing the user guide
This user guide belongs to this Rugged DAB Radio
(referred to as the “product” below). It contains information on how to
setup and use the product. Read the user guide carefully, in
particularly the safety instructions before using the product. Failure to
follow this user guide may lead to severe injury or product damage.
Intended Use
This product is designed to be primarily used with the supplied 9V/1A mains adaptor
and to charge other mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and some laptops
from the featured 5V/1A USB out port. This product is not intended for commercial
use.
Only use the product as described in this user guide. Any other use other than
directed may lead to damage of the product or equipment and even possible injury.
The manufacturer or retailer assume no liability of damaged caused by improper or
incorrect use.
This product IS NOT a toy.

• Only connect the product if the mains voltage of the sockets matches the
information shown on the rating plate.
• Only connect the product to an easily accessible socket so that you can quickly
disconnect it from the mains power in the event of a malfunction.
• DO NOT operate this product if it has visible damage or if the power cables
or plug is faulty.
• DO NOT operate this product with wet or damp hands or other body parts.
• DO NOT immerse the product, power cable or plug in water or other liquids
or expose them to damp or moist conditions.
• DO NOT pull the power cable excessively when disconnecting it to prevent
possible shock, fire or damage to yourself or the product.
• DO NOT excessively bend the power cable. This will minimise excessive wear to
the connectors and the power cables.
• If the power cable of the product is faulty it must be replaced to prevent any

To power the radio correctly, you will need to use the supplied 9V/2A mains adaptor.
Connect the main adaptor to a suitable mains power outlet making sure the main
outlet is switched off. Access the DC in port

This radio can also be powered by 6 x ‘C’ size batteries (not included) for limited
portable use.

the main body of the radio and hook it in place before pushing the clasp

to lock and secure the storage bay cover

DO NOT leave batteries in the radio for long term storage.
Battery life can last up to 8 hours depending on volume output.
The batteries will drain slowly if left installed due to the internal memory.
It is recommended to use rechargeable lithium batteries due to the
power requirements of the radio.

Turning On For The First Time
When the radio has been supplied with power and the aerial is in the upright
position, give the

button a quick press to turn it on. The radio will show a
system splash screen and automatically begin scanning for the available DAB
channels. The radio will automatically set the time and date once it has found a
strong signal.
When the scan is complete, the radio will start to play the first available channel
listed alphabetically in DAB mode.
The radio is now ready to use.
For the best experience, do not use the radio near large electronic devices such
microwaves, step down transformers, Wi-Fi routers, battery charge stations, etc.
These types of devices may interfere with the receiving of DAB signals.

This radio has a standby mode feature in addition to the power on and off states.
Power On
To turn the radio on, give the

button a quick press. You will see the system
splash screen as the radio boots up followed by the last station played or the first
alphabetically listed DAB station if the radio has been left without power for a long
period.
Power Off
To turn the radio off in any power state, press and hold the
A

button until the
screen goes blank. This is approximately 4 seconds. The radio will show a shut down
splash screen during this process.

To bring the radio out of standby mode, give the

button a quick press.
The radio will play the last station played or the first alphabetically listed DAB station
if the radio has been left without power for a long period.
Standby
When the radio is on and playing, give the

button a quick press to enter
standby mode. A state change splash screen will appear to indicate the radio has
changed power state to standby before displaying the standby clock screen.
The alarm feature utilises the radio in standby mode.
