ES-HT900-LCR-6
Welcome to Episode® Speakers. We appreciate your purchase and are committed
to providing the highest-quality products possible.
The Episode® LCR model is a superb choice for almost every type of home theater
or home audio installation. It has been designed with advanced technological
components that allow for high performance and a lifetime of enjoyment.
WALL MOUNTING
The ES-HT900-LCR-6 can be mounted on a wall using the included
keyhole. Install the keyhole in one of the four pre-drilled locations on the
rear of the speaker (shown on drawing) using the two included screws.
On the wall, be sure to use a screw or mounting hardware capable of
supporting the weight of the ES-HT900-LCR-6 (31 lbs.) (not included).
Be certain that the screw is installed securely into solid material, such as
a stud located in the wall or a suitable wall anchor. Install provided rubber
bumpers to back of speaker in order to stabilize speaker on wall.
CONNECTING AND CHECKING SPEAKER PHASE
To ensure proper speaker connections, perform the following steps:
1. At each loudspeaker connection, ensure that at least 2 inches of each conductor are separated.
Strip away 1/4 inch of insulation from each conductor. Connect the appropriate conductor to each
ve-way binding post observing correct polarity.
If you connect your speakers out of phase, one loudspeaker will be playing at the opposite ‘time’ as
the other, which will result in sound that lacks bass and sounds “warbly or distant with vocals. If
you suspect the sound is not right and you cannot see any markings on the wire to verify polarity is
correct, try this simple test:

BI-WIRING/BI-AMPING
If bi-wiring or bi-amping is desired, remove the two terminal jumpers
and connect speaker wires appropriately to the terminals marked
HF (high frequencies) and LF (low frequencies).

The purpose of bi-wiring is to reduce interaction between
woofer and midrange and/or tweeter. Separate cables are
connected to the low requency (LF) terminal and the high
frequency (HF) terminal. Both cables are connected to the
same terminal on the receiver/amplier.

The highest possible performance is obtained by using
separate ampliers for LF and HF. Identical ampliers can

must be observed:
- All ampliers should be phase coherent, either phase or
non-phase inverting, and have identical voltage gain.
- Each amplier for LF, and each amplier for HF, must
be identical.
INSTALLATION
RECOMMENDED AMPLIFIER POWER
To get the best performance from your ES-HT900-LCR-6 speaker, we recommend powering it with an amplier or receiver

SPEAKER WIRE
To connect your ES-HT900-LCR-6 speaker to your amplier, high quality 12 to 16 gauge stranded speaker wire is
recommended. The wire may be connected directly to the speaker’s ve-way binding posts or terminated with
either spade lugs or banana plugs.
SPEAKER PLACEMENT
For Left, Right and Center applications, the ES-HT900-LCR-6 should be placed with the ribbon tweeter at ear height
(about 40 to 50 inches from the oor). This positioning will provide the clearest sound and best dialog intelligibility.
For Center channel applications, place the ES-HT900-LCR-6 directly above or below the screen or behind it
in installations where a perforated screen is used.
For Left and Right speaker applications, place the speakers on either side of the screen at equal distances from the center
of the screen. Ideally, the two speakers should be spaced 6 to 12 feet apart. Left and Right speakers should also be equal
distance (about 8 to 20 feet) away from the center of the primary listening position. For best results, turn the left speaker
upside down so the tweeters on both speakers are on the outside, facing away from the screen.
When used as a Surround or Surround Back speaker, the ES-HT900-LCR-6 should be placed to the side or rear of the listening
area respectively, at about 6 feet above the oor. When used as a surround, the LCR should typically be placed as far from

INSTALLING AND REMOVING THE GRILL
To remove the grille, start in one top corner and gently pull the grille frame away from the front bae of the speaker.
Repeat process in remaining three corners. To install the grille, start in one top corner and gently press the grille frame
in around the front bae, pushing it in at each of the remaining three recessed holes.
ADJUSTMENTS
Once installed and connected to the home theater system, the ES-HT900-LCR-6 can be further tweaked by setting the
Screen EQ and Boundary Compensation switches located on the front of the speaker. Both of these settings are highly
dependent on the installation, location and theater arrangement. There is not one “right” way to set these adjustments.
Typically, what sounds the best to the listener is “right” for that installation.
When the Screen EQ switch is engaged, the high frequency level (those above 3kHz) is increased by 3dB. This can help
compensate for heavy grille cloth, location behind a perforated lm screen, or other installation compromises.
Engaging the Boundary Compensation switch will decrease frequencies below 80Hz by 3dB. Some cabinet installations
may increase the perceived loudness in the low frequency range, which can result in “boomy” or “muddy” bass. Turn Bound-
ary Compensation “on if the bass or lower mid bass seems “muddy”.
TWEETER ROTATION
For horizontal installations, the tweeter should be rotated 90 degrees to maintain its optimum dispersion pattern. In order
to do this, the tweeter and the front-mounted port tube has to switch locations. Follow the instructions below closely to
avoid damaging any parts of the speaker.
To rotate the tweeter, follow these steps:
1. Lay the speaker on its back (drivers facing up) on
a solid surface.
2. Remove the 6 screws on the front of the ribbon
and the 6 screws on the front of the port tube
(as shown in the illustration).
3. Carefully remove the port tube from the box by
gently lifting it upward.
4. Reach into the hole that held the port tube and
gently push the tweeter up. Using your other hand,
hold the tweeter slightly above the cabinet. You
may now disconnect the wires from the tweeter.
  
5. Reroute the tweeter wires through the opening
that you are moving the tweeter to, and
reconnect to the tweeter.
6. Carefully seat the tweeter in the opening,
ensuring that the gasket material is
placed properly in the recess between
the tweeter and the bae.
7. Lower the port tube into the hole that initially held
tweeter, ensuring that the gasket material is placed
properly in the recess between the port and the bae.
8. Tighten the 6 screws for the tweeter and 6 screws
for the port tube. Be careful not to over-tighten
as this may crack the tweeter ange or port tube.
19. You can also rotate the Screen EQ/Boundary
Compensation plate by removing the 4 screws.
