Flowswitch Bypass Switch
Installation
Engineering Specication
Purchase and install a UL listed Flow Switch Bypass Switch for
bypassingthewaterowswitchinthevicinityoftheowswitchwhere
itwillbevisiblefromtheoororwhererequiredbytheAHJ.
Thedeviceshallconsistofastainlesssteelplatewithakeyswitchand
three(3)LED’s,GreenforNormal,AmberforBypassedandRedfor
FlowswitchActivated.
In the normal condition the green LED on the device shall be lit
indicatingthattheowswitchisconnectedtotherealarmpaneland
local bell if applicable.
TurningthekeyswitchtothebypassedpositionturnsoffthegreenLED
andlightstheamberLED.Thisdisconnectstheowswitchfromthe
repanelcausingittogointoatroublecondition.Italsodisconnects
theowswitchfromthelocalbellifapplicable.
Activation of the owswitch will light the red LED on the device
regardlessofthepositionofthekeyswitch.

1. ConnecttheredandblackleadsoftheFSBStothe24VDC
auxiliarypoweroftherealarmpanelbeingsuretoobserve
polarity.
2. Connect either one of the yellow wires to one side of the
waterowzoneormonitoringmoduleoftherealarmpanel.
3. ConnecttheotheryellowwiretooneoftheNormallyOpen
switchcontactsontheowswitch.
4. Theother sideofthe waterowzoneor monitoringmodule
will connect directly to the Common contact on the same
TheFSBSshallonlybeusedbyauthorizedpersonnel.
ThekeyfortheFSBSshallberemovedandsecuredbyauthorized
personnelwhennotinuse.
Activation of the FSBS will prevent an alarm from the waterow
switch.
TheredACTIVATEDLEDindicatesthattheowswitchisinalarm.
TurningtheswitchtoNORMALwhiletheredLEDislitwillcause
an alarm.
DonotusetheFSBStosilenceanactualwaterowalarm.
Installationandwiring,includinggroundingthemetalelectricalbox
whenusedwith120VAC,shallbeinaccordancewiththeNational
ElectricCodeNFPA70,theNationalFireAlarmandSignalingCode
NFPA72and/or CSAC22,CanadianElectricalCodePartI,Safety
StandardforElectricalInstallationsSection32andCAN/ULC-S524.
Power limited wires shall be FPL, FPLP, FPLR or equivalent. If
theFSBSisusedwith120VAC,the120VACforconnectiontothe
orangeandbrownwiresshallentertheenclosurethroughaseparate
openingfromallotherwires.Allwiresshallberatedforthehighest
voltageused.

5. Installthe EOLRfromthe re panel/monitormoduleto the
commonandopenowswitchcontacts.
6. Connect either Blue wire to the unused Common switch
contactontheowswitch.
7. ConnectotherBluewiretotheunusedNormallyOpencontact
oftheowswitch.
Note: Steps 8-9 are only for systems where a 120VAC
indicatingapplianceisoperateddirectlyfromtheowswitch.
8. Connect the Hot/Line side of theAC supply to the orange
wire.
9. Connectthebrownwiretotheblackwireonthebell.
