Setting up the hardware.
1. Shutdown the AGILENT Series 9000/700 computer and peripherals
2. Connect power for the computer, monitor and E3788 into the UPS.
3. Connect the RJ-45 cable to an available port on the E3788A.
(See the E3788A installation manual, Agilent p/n E3788-9000 for device
file information. I used port 4, device file = /dev/ttyds04, this is
the first undesignated serial port available)
4. Connect the other end of the RJ-45 cable into the Black Box
adapter, the APC serial cable into the Black Box adapter and the
connector on the back of the UPS.
5. The 9000/700 and another computer (PC) with a CD-ROM drive must
both be on a local area network.
Setting up the software.
1. Turn on the UPS
2. Turn on the AGILENT9000/700 computer and all peripherals.
3. Allow sufficient time for the AGILENT9000/700 to complete its boot.
The PowerChute plus software is available on CD-ROM and 3.5" floppy
disk. It must be copied from the install media to your 9000/700.
1. Copy the directory Agilent10 from the install media to an empty directory
on your PC. (for example /apc)
2. From the PC connect to your 9000/700 using FTP and login as 'root'. Copy
in binary mode the directory containing the PowerChute software to an
empty directory on your 9000/700. (for example /apc) This should take
less than 60 seconds.
3. Logon your 9000/700 as 'root'.
4. Change directories to where the software was copied: 'cd /apc'.
5. Change the permissions on the files you just copied: 'chmod 500 ./*'
6. Install the software: ./install
