GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
POWER TOOLS
WARNING! All safety instructions, user manu-
als, images and directives supplied with this tool
must be read. Failure to follow all of the following
instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/
or serious personal injury.
All instructions and the user manual must be kept
for future reference.
The term "power tool" in all the following warn-
ings refers to a mains-powered tool (with a power
cord) or a battery-powered tool (without a power
cord). This manual applies only to power tools
that are powered by a battery without a power
cord.
Safety in the working environment
The workplace must be kept clean and well lit.
Clutter and dark areas are often the cause of ac-
cidents.
Power tools must not be used in potentially explo-
sive atmospheres where flammable liquids, gases
or dust are present. Power tools create sparks that
can ignite dust or fumes.
Children and other persons must be kept away
when using power tools. If the operator is dis-
tracted, they may lose control of the operation.
Electrical safety
The operator must not touch grounded objects,
such as pipes, central heating units, cookers and

13ENGLISH
refrigerators. The risk of electric shock is greater if
your body is connected to the ground.
Power tools must not be exposed to rain, mois-
ture or wetness. If water enters a power tool, the
risk of electric shock increases.
The tool may generate a weak electromagnetic
field that is not ordinarily dangerous to humans.
However, persons with pacemakers or similar
devices should contact the manufacturer of the
device or consult their physician before using the
tool.
Safety of persons
When using a power tool, the operator must be
careful, pay attention to what they are doing,
concentrate and think clearly. Power tools must
not be used if the operator is tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A mo-
ment’s inattention while using a power tool can
result in serious personal injury.
Use personal protective equipment. Always use
eye protection. Protective equipment such as
a respirator, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat and
hearing protection, used in accordance with the
working conditions, reduces the risk of personal
injury.
Unintentional starting of the machine must be
avoided. Make sure that the switch is in the off
position before connecting the battery, lifting or
carrying the tool. Carrying the tool with your fin-
ger on the switch or with the tool switched on can
cause accidents.
All adjusting tools or wrenches must be removed
before switching on the tool. An adjusting tool or
wrench that remains attached to the rotating part
of the power tool may result in personal injury.
The operator must only work in places that they
can safely reach. The operator must always main-
tain a stable posture and balance. This will allow
better control of the power tool in unforeseen
situations.
The operator must dress appropriately. Do not
wear loose clothing or jewellery. The operator
must make sure that their hair and clothing are
a sufficient distance away from moving parts.
Loose clothing, jewellery and long hair can be
caught up in moving parts.
Where equipment is provided for connecting
dust extraction and collection facilities, care must
be taken to ensure that it is connected and used
correctly. The use of such equipment can reduce
hazards caused by dust.
The operator must not allow themselves to be-
come lax and ignore the principles of work safety
due to the routine that results from the frequent
use of the tool. Careless actions can cause serious
injuries in a split second.
Power tool use and maintenance
Power tools must not be overloaded. It is essential
to use the correct power tool for the work being
carried out. The correct power tool will do the
work it was designed to do better and safer.
Power tools that cannot be switched on and off
with the switch must not be used. Any power tool
that cannot be operated with the switch is dan-
gerous and must be repaired.
The battery must be removed from the power
tool before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing power tools. These pre-
cautions reduce the risk of accidentally starting
the power tool.
Unused power tools must be stored out of the
reach of children. Persons unfamiliar with the
power tool or these instructions must not be al-
lowed to use the power tool. Power tools are dan-
gerous in the hands of inexperienced users.
Power tools and accessories must be maintained.
The adjustment and mobility of moving parts
must be checked and attention paid to cracks,
broken parts and any other circumstances that
may compromise the function of the power tool.
If the tool is damaged, it must be repaired before
further use. Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools.
Cutting tools must be kept sharp and clean. Prop-
erly maintained and sharpened cutting tools are
less likely to catch on material or jam and are eas-
ier to control.
Power tools, accessories, tool bits, etc. must be
used in accordance with these instructions and
in the manner intended for the particular power
tool, taking into account the working conditions
and the work to be carried out. Using power tools
for activities other than those for which they are
designed can lead to dangerous situations.
Handles and grip surfaces must be kept dry, clean
and free of grease. Slippery handles and gripping
surfaces mean the tool cannot be held and con-
trolled in unexpected situations.
Do not use cloth work gloves when using power
tools as these can become entangled. Cloth work

gloves becoming tangled in moving parts can
cause personal injury.
Cordless power tool use and mainte-
nance
The tool must only be charged with the charg-
er specified by the manufacturer. A charger that
may be suitable for one type of battery pack may
cause a fire risk when used with another battery
pack.
The tool must only be used with a battery that is
specifically designed for the tool. The use of any
other batteries may cause a risk of injury or fire.
When the battery is not in use, it must be protect-
ed from contact with other metal objects, such
as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other
small metal objects that can cause one battery
contact to come in contact with another. Short-cir-
cuiting the battery terminals may cause burns or
fire.
If used incorrectly, liquids may leak from the bat-
tery; contact with them should be avoided. In the
case of accidental contact with these fluids, the
affected area must be rinsed with water. In addi-
tion, seek medical attention if fluid gets into the
eye. Liquids escaping from the battery can cause
inflammation or burns.
A damaged or modified battery or tool must not
be used. A damaged or modified battery can ex-
hibit unpredictable behaviour, which can result in
fire, explosion, or the risk of injury.
The battery or tool must not be exposed to fire or
excessive heat. Exposure to fire or temperatures
above 130°C may cause an explosion.
All charging instructions must be followed, and
the battery or tool must not be charged outside
the temperature range specified in the operating
instructions. Improper charging or charging at
temperatures outside this range may damage the
battery and increase the risk of fire.
Servicing
Power tool repairs must be carried out by qual-
ified personnel using identical spare parts. This
will ensure the same level of safety of the power
tool as before the repair.
Damaged batteries must never be repaired. Bat-
teries should only be repaired by the manufactur-
er or an authorized service centre.

especially children, or pets nearby.
Before use, check the place where you will use
the machine. Remove any stones, branches, toys,
cables and other foreign objects that could hit the
tool and cause a dangerous situation or serious
injury.
Warning: Use of the tool may release dust-form
chemicals that can cause respiratory and other
diseases. These chemicals originate in pesticides,
insecticides, fertilizers, and herbicides. The de-
gree of hazard depends on the frequency of your
use of the tool. To reduce operator exposure to
these chemicals, only use the tool in well-venti-
lated areas and use certified protective gear, e.g.
dust filter masks designed to filter out microscop-
ic particles.
Electrical and battery safety
Do not expose the tool to rain or excessive mois-
ture. Water or moisture entering the tool increase
the risk of electrocution.
Do not use a tool with an inoperable or damaged
on/off switch or safety catch. Such a tool is dan-
gerous and needs to be repaired.
Avoid accidental starting. Do not carry the ma-
chine with your finger on the fuse and the switch.
Do not throw the battery into a fire. It may ex-
plode. Hand batteries in for proper disposal as
required by local regulations.
Do not dismantle or damage the battery. This may
release the electrolyte, which is caustic and may
cause severe eye or skin injury. The electrolyte
is poisonous. If you have accidentally swallowed
electrolyte, seek medical help immediately.
Do not charge the battery in rain or humid envi-
ronments.
First use
Before dismantling or modifying the tool, always
remove the battery.
Before handling the cutting blade, always put on
gloves.
Before installing the battery, make sure the tool is
not damaged, all bolts, nuts, and safety locks are
tight, and the tool is correctly assembled. Have
the cutting blade sharpened. If the cutting blade
is bent or damaged, it will need to be replaced.
Check proper function of all control elements and
switches. Clean and dry all handles.
Do not turn on a tool that is damaged or improp-
erly assembled. Serious injury may result other-
wise.
Adjust the shoulder strap and handle angle to the
operator’s height.
When inserting the battery, hold the tool with the
cutting blade pointing away from you, other ob-
jects or the ground. Accidentally turning on the
tool at this point could cause injury or damage to
the tool or other property.
Before turning on the tool, make sure all wrench-
es and other external tools have been removed.
If such a tool remains attached to the rotary parts
while these are running, serious injury may result.
The protective cover must always be installed
when using the tool. Never use a tool whose pro-
tective cover is damaged or missing.

tool until the cause of the abnormality has been
found and removed.
The cutting blade continues to rotate for some
time after the motor has been turned off. Avoid
contact with the cutting blade.
Use the shoulder strap. The tool is designed to
be held to the right of the body.
Do not lean in any direction. Stand straight and
keep your balance at all times while using the
tool. Continuously scan the work area for any
hard-to-spot foreign objects, tree stumps or
roots, sewer grilles, etc., to avoid stumbling or
catching your tool on these.
Take extra care when working on slopes.
Walk forward slowly. Never run.
Do not use the tool while on ladders, in trees etc.
If the tool suffers a major collision or fall, check
it for damage before continuing work. Check
proper function of control and safety elements.
If you find any damage or have doubts as to the
tool’s condition, bring it in to an authorized ser-
vice centre for inspection and repair.
Do not touch the motor unit during and imme-
diately after operation. The motor becomes hot
while running and may cause burns.
Take regular breaks of at least 10 to 20 minutes
after each hour of operation, in order to avoid
dangerous situations due to operator fatigue.
When leaving the tool unattended, even briefly,
always remove the battery. An unattended tool
with the battery still inside could be used by an
unauthorized person, who could seriously injure
themselves or others.
If grass or twigs become caught between the cut-
ting blade and protective cover, turn off the tool
and remove the battery before clearing it out.
Otherwise, the cutting blade could accidentally
turn on and severely injure you.
Never touch any moving part until it has come to
a full stop and you have removed the battery.
If the cutting blade strikes a rock or another hard
object, turn off the tool, remove the battery, and
check for damage.
Regularly inspect the cutting blade for cracks and
other damage. Before any such inspection, turn
off the tool, remove the battery, and wait for the
moving parts to come to a complete stop. Even
a slightly cracked cutting blade requires replace-
ment.
Do not lift the machine to mow at heights. The
maximum height to which the machine can be
raised is waist height. Do not use the machine at
heights.
Wait until the machine reaches maximum speed
before mowing.
When mowing, move the tool smoothly in a half-
arc left to right, as when using a scythe.
Only hold the tool by its handles, which are in-
sulated, in case the cutting blade strikes hidden
power cables. In that case, the exposed metal
parts of the tool can become “live” with electricity
and pose an electrocution hazard.
Do not turn on the tool if the cutting head is
fouled by grass.
Before starting the tool, check that the cutting
blade is not touching the ground or foreign ob-
jects (e.g. trees).
Always use both hands to hold the tool. Never
hold a running tool in one hand.
Always switch off the machine and remove the
battery:
whenever the machine is left unattended;
before removing a blockage;
before checking, cleaning or working on the
machine;
after encountering a foreign object;
if the machine starts to vibrate excessively;
if you make adjustments and before replac-
ing accessories and storing;
whenever you move the machine to another
location.
Cutting tool
Only use cutting tools (cutting blades or nylon
strings) supplied with the tool or recommended
by the manufacturer.
The cutting tools are suitable for:
Nylon string: mowing grass
Cutting blade: mowing weeds, tall grass,
bushes, undergrowth, thickets, etc.
Never use other types of cutting tools, such
as metal rotary chains and mattock blades.
These could cause serious injury.
Only use cutting tools rated for the same speed
as the machine, or higher.
Keep your hands, face, and clothing at a sufficient
distance from moving cutting tools. There is a risk
of serious injury.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
17ENGLISH
Always use a protective cover suitable for your
type of cutting tool.
Avoid recoil when using the tool.
Recoil
Recoil (blade pull) is a sudden reaction to
a snagged or tangled cutting blade. When this
happens, the tool is flung to the side or towards
the operator with great force, and may cause se-
rious injury.
Recoil occurs primarily when a part of the cutting
tool (in the arc between 12 and 2 o’clock posi-
tions) touches a hard object, such as a shrub or
tree of more than 3 cm diameter.
To prevent recoil:
Increase the angle of contact (between 8 and
11 o’clock positions).
Prevent contact between the 12 and 2 o’clock
positions.
Inexperienced or untrained operators work-
ing alone should avoid contact at angles of
11-12 o’clock and 2-5 o’clock.
Do not use the cutting tool close to solid ob-
jects such as fences, walls, tree stumps, rocks,
etc.
Never use the tool for vertical lawn edge or
hedge trimming.
Vibrations
Persons with cardiovascular disorders may suffer
vascular or nerve damage from excessive vibra-
tion exposure. Vibration may cause the following
symptoms in fingers, hands, or wrists: loss of feel-
ing, pins-and-needles sensation, pain, stabbing
pain, skin discoloration, skin loss. If you develop
any of these symptoms, seek medical treatment.
To reduce the risk of “white finger” (Ray-
naud’s phenomenon), keep your hands warm
while working and maintain the tool and its ac-
cessories in good order.
Transport
Before transporting the tool, turn it off and re-
move the battery. If the tool is equipped with
a protective cover, put it on.
Carry the tool horizontally, holding it by the shaft.
When transporting the tool by vehicle, secure it
against moving in the cargo compartment. Dam-
age to the tool or property may result otherwise.
Maintenance
The tool may only be serviced at an authorized
service centre, using only original replacement
parts. Improper repair and maintenance neglect
reduce the tool’s useful life and increase the risk
of hazardous situations.
Before maintenance, repair or cleaning, turn off
the tool and remove the battery.
Before handling the cutting blade, always put on
gloves.
Always clean dust and dirt from the tool. Do not
clean the tool with gasoline, solvents, alcohol, etc.
Otherwise, the tool’s plastic parts may become
discoloured, deformed, or cracked.
Check and tighten all nuts and bolts after each
use.
Do not perform any repair or maintenance tasks
not described in this manual. Contact an author-
ized service centre.
Only use original spare parts and accessories.
Use of third-party spare parts or accessories may
cause damage to the tool or other property and /
or severe injury.
Have the tool regularly checked and tuned at an
authorized service centre.
Only operate the tool in suitable conditions. Ne-
glecting maintenance may degrade the perfor-
mance and useful life of the tool.
