Remote control option:

Switching the remote control option allows you to use this remote

control to operate two TechniSat receivers and a TechniSat television

with the same coding.

> To switch the remote control option, press the desired button

(SAT1, SAT2 or TV) and OK at the same time!!!

Before you start getting the television ready for ﬁ rst-time use, please

make sure all the components are present in the package.

The package contains:

1 LCD television set, 1 Remote control,

1 Operating manual, 1 Guarantee card,

2 Batteries (1.5 V „micro“ AAA), 1 Offset screwdriver,

1 Mains power cable

Intended use

- Connection to mains voltage 230 V / 50 Hz.

- The TV set has been designed to receive and playback video

and audio signals only.

- The TV set is only suitable for connection to audio and video

devices, antenna systems and computers that conform to the

DIN standard and that bear the CE mark.

- The TV set is permitted to be used in private and commercial

areas, in dry rooms and under supervision.

- No other forms of utilisation are permitted under any

circumstances.

Declaration by the manufacturer

The TV set fulﬁ ls the requirements of

- EU Directive 73/23/EEC (low-voltage directive)

- EN 60065

- EU Directive 89/336/EEC (EMC directive)

- EN 55013, EN 55020, EN 60555-2 and bears the CE mark.

Care and cleaning

The housing can be wiped with a soft cloth that is only very slightly

damp.

To ensure the high-grade surface does not get damaged, do not

use any sprayed detergents or strong chemical detergents on the

housing.

You can clean the screen whilst the TV set is switched off using a

dry or only very slightly damp cloth.

You can purchase the LCD panel cleaning set from your specialised

dealer using the following designation and item no.:

LCD panel cleaning set,item no. 0000/3830

Remote control / changing the batteries

> Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote

control by pressing down gently on the marked area.

> Insert the supplied batteries whilst making sure their polarity

is correct (as indicated by the markings in the battery

compartment).

> Close the battery compartment again.

Transportation

You must only transport the TV set in an upright position. When

doing so, do not hold the TV set by its loudspeakers.

Notes regarding the LCD screen

The screen you have purchased complies with the highest standards

and has been tested and classiﬁ ed with regard to pixel errors in

accordance with ISO 13406-2. Despite the utmost care being taken

during the manufacturing process, the occurrence of isolated pixel

display errors cannot completely be avoided for production-related

reasons. Please understand that the presence of incorrect pixels

within the scope of the ISO classiﬁ cation cannot be considered a

device defect in terms of the guarantee.

Safety notices

For your own protection, you should read the safety precautions

carefully before you start using your new TV set.

The manufacturer does not accept liability for damage due to

improper use or non-compliance with the safety precautions.

- The TV set must only be used in a temperate climate.

- To ensure sufﬁ cient ventilation, place the TV set on a ﬂ at, level

surface.

- Never place burning objects (e.g. lit candles) on top of the TV set.

- Do not switch on the TV set immediately after delivery or

transportation during cold weather but wait until the television‘s

temperature has reached the temperature of the surroundings.

- Do not subject the TV set to water drips or splashes and never

place objects ﬁ lled with liquids (e.g. vases) on top of the TV set.

If water has entered the TV set, unplug the mains power plug

immediately and inform the service centre.

- Do not place the TV set in conﬁ ned shelving or cupboards –

maintain a clearance of at least 10 cm around the TV set for

ventilation.

- The TV set has ventilation slots so that heat can escape from its

interior. Do not cover the ventilation slots with any objects, e.g.

newspapers, tablecloths, etc.

- Do not operate any sources of heat in the vicinity of the TV set

that could additionally heat up the television.

- Do not push any objects through the ventilation slots.

- If you notice that the TV set has developed a fault or if you detect

a smell or see smoke coming from the television set, you must

unplug the mains power plug immediately and inform the service

centre.

- If an electrical power failure occurs, you should switch off the TV

set at the power switch.

- If you are away for a longer period of time, you should switch

off the TV set. This extends the lifetime of the display panel and

conserves energy.

- Never open the TV set!

Contact with high-voltage components can be life-threatening!

- Any work that might need to be carried out on the TV set must

only be performed by appropriately trained persons.

- you would like to connect the device to a hi-ﬁ or surround

unit (see item 4.) and do not want to use the device

loudspeakers.

Removing the loudspeakers

> Remove the loudspeaker cables from the connecting

terminals. For this purpose, press down the spring contact

and pull the cable out.

> Using a suitable screwdriver, loosen the fastening screws of

the loudspeaker(s) and remove it / them.

> Cover up the loudspeaker attachment openings using the

supplied covers.

Information regarding disposal

All the packaging that came with your TV set is made from

recyclable materials. Please sort the materials and dispose of

them correctly for recycling.

At the end of its lifetime, this product must not be disposed of

in the normal household waste but must be taken to a recycling

collection point for electrical and electronic appliances. The

symbol displayed on the product, the operating instructions or

packaging refers to this.

The materials can be recycled in the way indicated by their labels.

You are making an important contribution to the protection of our

environment by reusing end-of-life appliances, recycling their

materials or recycling them in other ways.

Please ask your municipal authority for information about your

local disposal site.

When the TV set is not in use for longer periods

Disconnect the mains power plug and antenna plug during

thunderstorms and when the TV set is not in use for longer

periods.

Power surges can damage the TV set.

You should disconnect the TV set from the mains power supply and

ask a qualiﬁ ed person for help in the following situations:

- The electrical cable is damaged.

- The TV set has been subjected to moisture or a liquid has

entered the TV set.

- The TV set is malfunctioning seriously.

- The TV set has suffered serious damage to its exterior.

Wall mounting

You can fasten your equipment to a suitable wall with an appropriate

wall bracket, e.g. TechniSat HD-Mount (Item No. 2020/2632) or

TechniSat HD-Mount LCD wall bracket (Item No.: 2020/2732).

You must ﬁ rst disassemble the base stand for this purpose.

Removing the base stand

> Please note, that you must remove the loudspeaker cables

from the connecting terminals before removing the base stand

of versions with bottom loudspeakers.

> Place the equipment, screen downwards, on an even surface.

Take care that the panel is not subject to any pressure and that

the LCD panel is not damaged.

Loosen and remove both marked screws.

Now carefully remove the base stand from the lower side of the

equipment.

A special additional proﬁ le is required in order to continue using

the provided loudspeakers on the version with bottom loudspeakers

after mounting on a wall. This additional proﬁ le with the following

designation and item no. is available from your specialised dealer.

HD-Vision 32: HD-Mount Adapter 32“ Item No. 0001/3240

HD-Vision 40: HD-Mount Adapter 40“ Item No. 0002/3240

Removable loudspeakers

Your device is equipped with removable loudspeakers. These can

be removed, if:

- you would like to set up the loudspeakers separately on

the loudspeaker stand (only possible for versions with side

loudspeakers).

- you would like to attach the loudspeaker to an additional

proﬁ le, after wall mounting (see item 3.8.1), (Only possible for

versions with bottom loudspeakers).

Make sure that depleted batteries from the remote control as well as

electronic scrap do not enter the household waste but are disposed

of properly (e.g. taken back by the store or disposed of at a special

refuse site).

Connection example for the television set

a. Connection of the satellite antenna to the LNB input.

b. Connection of the cable-TV connection (digital and/or

analogue) or the DVB-T antenna to the antenna input of the

television set.

c. Connection of the television set to a DVD player using:

- an HDMI connecting cable or

- a SCART connecting cable or

- an RCA component cable

d. Connection of the television‘s SCART socket to a video

DVD

4 Connecting and setting up for ﬁ rst-time use

The cross-references (a, b and c) used below refer to the connection

example on page 4.

To gain access to the connections on the side of the TV set you

must ﬁ rst detach the cover.

> To do so, press upwards slightly on both snap-in catches and

pull off the cover towards the back of the TV set.

> To hide the connecting cables, lead them along the back of the

stand behind the detachable plastic holder.

4.1 Satellite antenna

a Connect the cable coming from the satellite antenna‘s LNB to

the LNB input of the LCD TV set.

4.2 Antenna / cable-TV connection (analogue and digital)

b Connect the antenna input of the LCD TV set either to a

terrestrial antenna or to the outlet of the cable-TV/antenna

connection.

Please note:

It is not possible to receive DVB-T and DVB-C signals at the

same time.

4.3 DVD player

c Connect your DVD player either

- using an HDMI connecting cable to an HDMI socket or

- using an HDMI/DVI connecting cable to an HDMI socket and

additionally using an audio connecting cable to the Audio IN

(VGA/DVI) input or

- using a SCART cable to a SCART socket or

- using an RCA cable to the component inputs of the LCD TV

set.

4.4 Video recorder

d Use a SCART cable to connect a SCART socket on the LCD

TV set to the SCART socket of your video recorder.

4.5 S-VHS video recorder/video camera

If you want to playback signals from an S-VHS video recorder or

video camera on your television set, connect the devices to the

appropriate inputs on the left at the back of the TV set.

4.6 Hi-ﬁ ampliﬁ er

4.6.1 Analogue

To achieve the best possible audio quality, you can connect the LCD

TV set to a hi-ﬁ ampliﬁ er. To do so, use a suitable cable to connect

the RCA sockets of the analogue audio output at the back of the

television set to an input on your hi-ﬁ ampliﬁ er (e.g. CD or AUX.

Caution! The phono input is not suitable!).

4.6.2 Digital

If your ampliﬁ er is equipped with an appropriate electrical or optical

input (SPDIF), connect the digital audio output socket (electrical

or optical) to the input of your ampliﬁ er.

Depending on the particular broadcasting station, sampling rates of

32 kHz, 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz are available.

If the Dolby Digital signal (AC3) is also transmitted, it too will be

available at this output.

4.7 Subwoofer

If you have an active subwoofer, you can connect it to the subwoofer

output using a suitable cable.

4.8 Serial interface (RS 232)

The RS 232 interface is used for updating the operating software

and for pre-programming the TV using a PC.

4.9 USB port

The USB port is used for updating the operating software and for

pre-programming the TV using a PC or USB device. Furthermore,

you can connect a USB device to this port.

4.10 Headphones

If you want to use headphones, connect them to the headphone

socket at the back of the TV set on the left.

4.11 Mains power connection

You must only connect the LCD TV set to the mains power supply

(230 V / 50 Hz) after you have ﬁ rst connected the television to all the

other components. This will ensure the TV set or other components

do not suffer irreparable damage.

4.12 PC

If your PC has a DVI output, we recommend you connect the PC

using a DVI-HDMI cable to the HDMI connection of the television

set. Otherwise, please use a VGA cable and connect the PC to the

VGA socket of the television set.

> Afterwards, use the 0/AV button on the remote control to switch

the television set to VGA playback or HDMI playback.

If you have established the connection using a DVI-HDMI cable,

the switchover should take place automatically.

Before connecting the PC to the television set, it makes good

sense to conﬁ gure the resolution of the graphics card so it supplies

a picture in one of the formats supported by the television. The

supported formats are listed in the speciﬁ cations (Point 14). One

of the resolutions supported, for example, is 1024*768@60Hz.

Please refer to the user manual of your PC‘s operating system for

information on how to set a particular resolution for your graphics

card. In Windows you can generally ﬁ nd this setting using Start

Menu -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Themes -> Display ->

Settings.

You will obtain optimum results (a full-screen picture with the best

possible resolution) if you supply the panel with a signal in its native

resolution (1366*768). In accordance with the VESA CVT standard,

a resolution of 1360*768@50Hz is available that is therefore

an almost perfect match. The exact parameters are listed in the

speciﬁ cations (Point 14). Your television informs the PC about this

resolution via DDC. Unfortunately, there is no assurance that the

graphics card driver will always accept it.

If you see slight interference or have a blurred picture with a

connection via the VGA input, please correct this using the Trigger

level setting in Menu -> Settings -> VGA setting -> Trigger level.

If you need to adjust the horizontal position of the picture you can do

so using the Horizontal position control in the same menu.

5 First-time installation

Once you have read the safety notices and connected the TV set as

described in Chapter 4, you can switch on the TV set as described

in Chapter 6. When you switch on the TV set for the ﬁ rst time the

AutoInstall installation assistant starts automatically.

The installation assistant will help you easily conﬁ gure the most

important settings on the television set.

You can cancel the ﬁ rst-time installation procedure at any time by

pressing the red function button. You can return to the previous

installation step by pressing the green function button. This therefore

allows you at any time to correct something you might have entered

incorrectly.

The ﬁ rst-time installation procedure described here only serves as

an example. The actual setup procedure depends on the changes

that you make to the settings. Therefore, please follow the on-screen

instructions very carefully.

Menu language

The installation assistant starts by asking you to select a

Language.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the desired menu

language.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

Audio language

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the preferred audio

language.

> Conﬁ rm with OK to accept the selected setting.

Time zone setting

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the time zone for

your country.

The clock time will be adjusted automatically according to the

setting you select.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

Broadcast area

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the broadcast area in

which you are located.

After the installation assistant has completed, the system will

sort the TV channels and radio stations in the list of favourites

according to the selection you made here.

> Conﬁ rm with OK to accept the selected setting.

Displaying 4:3 programmes

Programmes broadcast with an aspect ratio of 4:3 can be displayed

in their original format or always in 16:9 format or with optimal

utilisation of the screen.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select how programmes

broadcast in 4:3 format should be displayed.

> Conﬁ rm with OK to accept your selection and then proceed to

the menu for choosing the available reception signals.

Selecting the reception signals

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the reception signals

(DVB-S for digital satellite programmes, DVB-C for digital

cable programmes, DVB-T for digital terrestrial programmes,

Analogue CT for analogue terrestrial and cable channels or FM

Radio for FM radio stations).

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to set whether the selected

reception signal is available at your location (Yes) or not (No).

> Afterwards, use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Proceed

ﬁ eld and then conﬁ rm with OK to accept your selection.

DiSEqC conﬁ guration (DVB-S)

In this installation step, you can adjust your television‘s settings to

suit the conﬁ guration of your satellite antenna.

> If you want to use the standard antenna settings, use the up/

down arrow buttons to mark the Standard ﬁ eld and conﬁ rm

with OK.

In this case, proceed with the „Antenna settings (DVB-T)“

menu item.

> If the conﬁ guration of your receiving installation does correspond

to the standard setting, mark the Manual ﬁ eld and conﬁ rm with

OK.

> Now adjust the antenna settings to suit your receiving installation

as described in Section 7.5.1.

> Next, use the arrow buttons to mark the Proceed ﬁ eld and

conﬁ rm with OK.

In the next step, check your satellite antenna‘s conﬁ guration

once more.

> If you want to accept the conﬁ guration, use the up/down arrow

buttons to mark the Yes ﬁ eld and conﬁ rm with OK.

Antenna settings (DVB-T)

If you are using an active DVB-T antenna that does not have a

separate power supply, you can feed it with power from the TV set

via the coaxial cable. To do so, set the Antenna feed to On.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons

to switch the power supply On

or Off.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Proceed ﬁ eld and

conﬁ rm with OK.

Software update

Your TV set will now check whether a newer version of the operating

software is available. If a newer version is available you can perform

an automatic software update.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to mark the Update ﬁ eld and

conﬁ rm with OK.

The new software for your TV set will now be downloaded. This

process can take some time.

Program search/ISIPRO

(only DVB-S)

There are various options available that allow you to search for

new channels or to update the program list. You can either use

the ISIPRO program list function (if available) to download a new

satellite program list for your TV set from satellites or you can

make the television perform a program search.

> If an up-to-date program list is available, you can download

it by using the up/down arrow buttons to mark the ISIPRO

Program list update menu item.

This function is only available if a program list newer

than the one already stored on your TV set is available for

download.

> Conﬁ rm with the OK button.

The current program list will now be downloaded via satellite.

Please take note of the additional on-screen information.

If you want to perform a program search, please proceed as

follows:

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the All channels ﬁ eld

if you want to search for both freely receivable and encrypted

channels or mark the Free only option if you just want to search

for freely receivable channels.

> You can start the automatic program search by pressing the

OK button. The reception areas that you selected will now be

automatically scanned for TV channels and radio stations.

This process can take a few minutes.

6 Operation

6.1 Switching the TV set on and off

Switching on using the power switch on the TV set

> Switch on the TV set by operating the power switch at the back

of the TV set near the top.

The TV set now performs an initialisation and cannot be

operated whilst this is taking place. This process can take a

few seconds.

Switching on from standby mode

> Switch on the TV set by pressing the On/Standby button on the

remote control/TV set

or

> by pressing the Program +/– buttons on the remote control or

on the TV set

or

> by pressing one of the numerical buttons (0 to 9) on the remote

control

or

> by switching on a device that is connected to one of the external

inputs. (If the autostart function is activated, see Section 10).

The operating status is indicated by the green LED indicator.

Switching off the TV set

> You can switch off the TV set by operating the power switch on

the TV set or by pressing the On/Standby button on the remote

control or on the TV set. If you switched off the TV set using the

On/Standby button, the television will now be in standby mode.

The LED indicator lights up red.

> The TV set can also be switched off using the Autostop function

(see Section 10).

The television remembers the last switch state (i.e. „On“ or „Off“)

that was initiated using the remote control or the buttons on the

TV set. If the television was switched off at the power switch

whilst it was in its fully operational state, it will return directly

to its fully operation state the next time you operate the power

switch.

In the event of a power failure, you must therefore switch

off the TV at its power switch so that it cannot switch on

unintentionally.

6.2 Selecting channels

6.2.1 Using the up/down program buttons

> You can switch to the next/previous channel by pressing the

Program +/– buttons on the remote control or on the TV set.

6.2.2 Using the numerical keypad

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the channel number that

you want. For example:

1 for program place 1

1, then 4 for program place 14

2, then 3, then 4 for program place 234

1, then 2, then 4, then 5 for program place 1245

When you enter channel numbers comprising several digits, you

have approximately 3 seconds after pressing a button to press the

next button. If you only want to enter a one, two or three-digit number,

you can speed up the channel-switching procedure by pressing and

holding down the last digit that you want to enter.

6.2.3 Using the program list

> Press the OK button.

The program list appears. Only TV channels will appear in TV

mode and only radio stations in radio mode. The currently set

channel or station is marked.

> You can now mark the channel that you want using the arrow

buttons or the numerical keypad.

> You can move the marker to the next item in the list using the

up/down arrow buttons.

> You can browse up or down a page at a time in the list using the

left/right arrow buttons.

> You can switch to the channel that you have marked by pressing

the OK button.

6.2.4 Accessing locked channels

If you try to access a channel that has been locked using the parental

lock, you will see the Enter PIN message appear onscreen.

> Use the numerical keypad to enter your PIN code.

The television switches to the desired channel.

or

> Switch to a channel that is not locked.

If you have selected the Once setting in Section 7.3.1, the

PIN code will be requested once when you switch to a locked

channel. For added convenience, you then only have to enter

the PIN code once during a phase of operation.

6.2.5 Returning to the last selected channel

> If you press the Back button on the remote control, the television

will switch back to the channel you were watching last.

> If you press this button again, the television will switch back

again to the channel you selected previously.

6.2.6 Info box

Every time you change channels you will see an info box appear

brieﬂ y on-screen displaying the program place and the title of the

current programme. Additional programme properties are also

displayed such as transmitted Teletext and the audio mode.

> To display the info box manually, press the Info button.

> If a longer item of information is provided on the current

programme you can browse through it by pressing the arrow

buttons.

> If you press the Info button again you will also see information

displayed on the programme that follows the current programme

(provided this information is transmitted).

> You can hide the info box again by pressing the Info button once

more.

6.2.7 AV source

> To select a device that is connected to the television‘s SCART

sockets, component input, HDMI inputs or AV connection, press

the AV button. The AV source selection window appears on-

screen displaying the available AV connections.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the device that you

want.

Please note:

It is not possible to operate a device connected to the RCA

video connection if a device is already connected to the S-VHS

connection. Likewise, you cannot operate a device connected to the

S-VHS connection if one is already connected to the RCA video

connection!

6.3 Receiving encr ypted channels

Your TV set is equipped with a „Common Interface“ to which you

can connect a CI module. You can then receive encrypted channels.

To do so, you must ﬁ rst insert a CI module with a valid smartcard in

the slot provided:

> Insert a CI module into the slot with its topside facing towards

the back.

> Insert the smartcard into the CI module‘s card slot. Make sure

the gold-coloured chip on the smartcard is facing towards the

back in the direction of insertion.

> If you now select an encrypted channel, your digital receiver

automatically checks the slot. If an appropriate CI module with

a valid smartcard is present in the slot, the receiver will display

the channel decrypted.

Special functions

Certain special functions are provided for some channels, such as

Premiere (only receivable with a valid subscription!). On multifeed

channels, for instance, some sports broadcasts allow you to select

different matches (e.g. division football) or you can change the audio

channel (e.g. stadium/commentary) or camera angle (e.g. Formula

1 racing).

Furthermore, some channels allow you to choose the starting time

for the ﬁ lm that you ordered.

6.3.1 Option channels

Some programmes provide option channels. This function allows

you, for instance, to choose from various camera angles during

a sports broadcast (e.g. Formula 1 racing) or to switch between

different sports venues (e.g. division football). If a programme

provides option channels, this is indicated by OPT appearing in the

info box.

> To select one of the available options, press the Option button.

A selection window appears containing the available options.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the desired option.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

Your digital receiver will now set the selected option.

6.3.2 Selecting the starting time

On some channels you have the option of selecting individual ﬁ lms

at various starting times. These ﬁ lms can therefore be viewed at

different starting times around the clock. If a channel allows you to

select a starting time, this is indicated by OPT appearing in the info

box.

> To select one of the available starting times, press the Option

button.

A selection window appears containing the available starting

times.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the starting time that

you want.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

If access to the programme has been granted for the set starting

time, you can watch the programme at the desired time.

6.4 Volume control

After you switch on the receiver, the sound will be played at the

volume level set in the menu.

> You can increase your television‘s volume using the Volume +

button and decrease it using the Volume – button.

> You can mute the volume by pressing the Sound on/off button

and can switch it on again by pressing this button once more.

6.4.1 Headphone volume

> Whilst the sound is muted, you can adjust the headphone

volume by pressing the right/left arrow buttons.

6.5 Selecting another language/sound option

If a programme is broadcast in several languages or with several

audio channels, this is indicated on-screen by the

symbol. You

can then select another language or audio channel as follows:

> Press the Language selection button.

A list of the languages currently being broadcast appears on-

screen.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the desired language

and conﬁ rm with OK.

You can now hear the broadcast in the set language. Your

television set is also capable of receiving programmes broadcast

in mono.

> You can use the right/left arrow buttons to switch between

mono channel 1

, mono channel 2 and stereo .

6.5.1 Dolby Digital (AC3 mode)

If you switch to a programme being broadcast with Dolby Digital

sound, the Dolby symbol will appear in the info box. If you have not

activated the Dolby Digital AC3 function (Section 10), you can set

your television manually to AC3 mode as follows:

> Press the Language selection button. If different languages

are currently being broadcast, they will appear in a list onscreen

together with Dolby Digital (AC 3).

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Dolby Digital

item and conﬁ rm with OK.

You can now hear the broadcast in Dolby Digital sound. If

you want your TV set to play programmes in Dolby Digital

automatically, you should activate the automatic AC3 playback

function as described in Section 10.

6.6 Teletext

Your TV set is capable of displaying Teletext information. This,

however, is only possible for channels that broadcast Teletext data.

6.6.1 Switching Teletext on/off

> Switch to the channel whose Teletext information you want to

view.

> Press the Teletext button to activate Teletext.

If the channel broadcasts Teletext information, you will see Page

100 (overview) appear.

> You can return to TV mode by pressing the Teletext button

again.

6.6.2 Selecting pages

> Use the numerical keypad 0 to 9 to enter the page number in

three-digit form. Your input is displayed in the top left corner of

the screen. Since Teletext pages cannot be transmitted all at the

same time, it might take a few seconds before your TV set ﬁ nds

the page and displays it on-screen.

or

> Use the red or green button to browse forwards or backwards a

page at a time.

> If you press the yellow function button, you can access the

Teletext group that is displayed in the yellow ﬁ eld.

> If you press the blue function button, you can access the Teletext

block that is displayed in the blue ﬁ eld.

6.6.3 Teletext subpages

Many Teletext pages are made up of several subpages. This is

indicated by two numbers separated by a slash on the Teletext

screen (current subpage / number of subpages). As soon as a new

subpage becomes available it is displayed automatically.

> To display a particular subpage, press the OK button.

The column at the left edge of the screen becomes active. The

subpages that have already been imported are marked.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the subpage that you

want.

> To close the subpage selection display, press the OK button

again.

6.6.4 Additional Teletext functions

Certain additional Teletext functions can only be accessed whilst

the lower command line of the Teletext window is active.

> To activate the lower command line, press the Back button.

The relevant symbols are now marked in colour.

6.6.4.1Stop mode

> To prevent the subpages from changing automatically, press the

red function button. The currently displayed subpage will now be

displayed continuously. (STOP appears in the header).

> You can reactivate automatic subpage switching by pressing

this button again.

or

> Whilst the additional Teletext functions are not activated,

press the Stop button to prevent the pages from changing

automatically.

6.6.4.2 Magnifying a Teletext page

> To magnify a Teletext page, press the green function button.

The top half of the page will then be displayed magniﬁ ed.

> If you press the green function button again, the lower half of the

Teletext page will be displayed magniﬁ ed.

> To display the page at its normal size again, press the green

function button once more.

6.6.4.3 Displaying hidden information

> To display hidden information (e.g. solutions to quizzes, and

VPS times, etc) press the

yellow function button.

> You can hide this information again by pressing the yellow

function button once more.

6.6.4.4 Displaying the TV picture without leaving Teletext

> You can display the TV picture by pressing the blue function

button and hide it again by pressing this button once more.

6.6.4.5 Adjusting the brightness in Teletext mode

> If you press the Back button again, you will access the brightness

settings for Teletext mode.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the brightness as

desired.

6.6.4.6 Changing the Teletext font

If, contrary to expectations, the necessity arises, you can change

the font of the Teletext decoder manually.

> If you press the Back button again, you will access the font

settings.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to select the font that suits the

language of the Teletext information being broadcast.

6.7 Sleep timer

The sleep timer provides you with a simple method of setting a

switch-off time for your TV set.

> To activate the sleep timer, press the Sleep timer button.

A menu window appears in which you can check the set

countdown time.

> You can use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the countdown

time of the sleep timer in „15-minute steps“ or you can switch off

the timer completely.

> You can return to normal mode by pressing the TV/Radio

button.

The countdown time of the sleep timer is displayed in the info

box.

6.8 Freeze frame

> If you press the Stop button, the current TV picture is displayed

as a still picture (freeze-frame).

> You can return to normal mode by pressing this button

again.

6.9 Switching between TV and radio

> You can switch to radio mode by pressing the TV/Radio

button.

The TV set switches to the radio station that you listened to

last.

> If you press the TV/Radio button again, the TV set switches

to the television channel you were watching last.

6.10 Channel/transponder/source info

> If you press the green function button, the data relating to the

channel/transponder or the selected source are displayed.

> You can return to normal mode by pressing the Back button.

6.11 Switching format / zoom

Television programmes are broadcast with different picture

formats (e.g. 16:9 or 4:3). To display the television picture at its

optimum size on your LCD TV set, you can preset a ﬁ xed aspect

ratio or you can activate automatic format detection (Section

7.1).

Furthermore, in normal mode, you can manually adjust the picture

format to suit the programme that is currently being broadcast.

> To open the menu for manually setting the picture aspect

ratio, press the blue function button.

> If you press the OK button several times, you can select

predeﬁ ned standard formats.

Furthermore, you can use the arrow buttons to stretch the

height or width of the picture manually.

If you have stretched the picture you can adjust the picture‘s

vertical position using the colour buttons.

6.12 Program journal (SFI/EPG)

Your television set is equipped with an electronic program guide.

You can use it to display programme information on-screen for

individual or several digital programmes. You can very quickly gain

an overview of the programmes that are currently being broadcast

or the programmes that are being broadcast throughout the day

or over the coming days.

The SFI functions allow you to:

- Display on-screen information about programme content.

- Mark programmes that will then be switched on automatically at

their starting times.

- Program timers.

- Search and switch to programmes according to their genre.

6.12.1 Importing the SFI data

The programme information is loaded by your TV set at the update

time speciﬁ ed in Section 7.4 (SFI settings). Your TV set must be in

standby mode in order for this to take place. This function will not

be carried out if your TV set is switched on or switched off at this

time. The time it takes to import the data depends on the number

of programmes to be imported. A maximum of seven days ahead

can be displayed. Due to the amount of data, this time period will

decrease as the number of channels in the electronic program

journal increases. You can decide yourself which digital channels

you want to appear in the „electronic program journal“. You can then

record them as described in Section 7.4.

6.12.2 Cancelling the import process

> Switch on the TV set by pressing the On/Standby button.

> Cancel the import process by pressing the

OK button twice.

6.12.3 Displaying the electronic program journal

> Press the (EPG/SFI) button on the television‘s remote control.

The electronic program journal appears on-screen. The channels

that you have speciﬁ ed or that have been speciﬁ ed by factory

default are displayed together with their current programmes.

You can now use the SFI function to display information about

the content of various programmes.

SFI functions are also available that allow you to switch to

the desired programme, mark it or include it in the timer

programming.

6.12.4 Now (screen with current programme content)

The „Now“ SFI screen is displayed initially showing the programmes

currently being broadcast. The bar to the right of the channel name

indicates how much of the current programme‘s broadcasting time

has already elapsed. The currently set programme is marked.

> You can move the marker from one line to the next by pressing

the up/down arrow buttons.

The SFI functions (Section 6.12.7) will now be available for you

to use.

> You can access the „Next“ SFI screen (see Section 6.12.5) by

pressing the right arrow button.

or

> You can return to normal mode by pressing the Back button.

6.12.5 Next

> You can display the „Next“ screen (next programmes) using the

right arrow button.

> The SFI functions (Section 6.12.7) will be available for you to

The days of the week are displayed at the bottom edge of the

screen. These ﬁ elds are highlighted as soon as information is

available for the corresponding day.

> To see a preview of a particular day, use the numerical keypad

to enter the number that corresponds to that day of the week.

> You can return to the „Next“ screen by pressing the Back

button.

6.12.7 SFI functions

To use the following SFI functions, you must ﬁ rst open the SFI as

described in Section 6.12.3.

6.12.7.1 SFI info

SFI Info allows you to display a short piece of information about the

marked channel or programme.

If SFI info is available, this is indicated by XX next to the relevant

programme name.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the desired channel.

> Press the (EPG/SFI) button to display the information. You

can browse through longer information texts using the arrow

buttons.

> You can return to the previous screen by pressing the Back

button.

6.12.7.2 Timer / recording programmes

The timer function switches your television set on and off for the

selected programme so that you can record it whilst you are away.

Please note that in order to record a television programme you must

also program your video recorder. If the TV set is in standby mode

when the timer starts, the screen will not be switched on.

Programming the timer automatically

> Use the arrow buttons to select the desired programme.

> Press the green Timer function button once to import the

selected programme‘s data as a video recorder timer directly

into the timer function.

> If you press the green button twice, the data are saved as a

channel change timer.

>

If you press the green function button once more, the data for

the marked programme are removed from the timer list again.

Programming the timer manually

> Press the red Timer list function button.

> The timer menu appears containing the data of all the

programmed timers so that you can check it. If necessary, you

can make changes to the list.

> If you press the green New function button, you can access the

timer programming function to program a new event.

To program, proceed as follows:

> You can add it to the timer by pressing the OK button.

the left/right arrow buttons.

Date

> Use the arrow buttons to mark the Date ﬁ eld.

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the date on which you want

to record a programme.

Start

> Use the right arrow button to mark the Start ﬁ eld.

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the start time for the timer.

Stop

> Repeat the steps as described in „Start“ to enter the stop time.

The system can also handle situations in which the stop time of

one timer is the same as the start time of a subsequent timer!

1. Video recorder

Your television set will be switched on and off for the selected

programme.

The majority of the remote control‘s functions cannot be used so

as to prevent inadvertent cancellation of the recording.

2. Channel change

If your TV set is in normal mode, it will switch to the programmed

channel when the set time is reached. In contrast to the video

recorder setting, the television‘s controls can be operated without

restriction and the TV set will not be switched off at the end of

the programme.

Storing the data in memory

> After you have ﬁ nished programming, press the green Accept

function button to store the data in memory.

Changing the timer programming

> To change an existing timer setting, mark it using the up/

down arrow buttons. If you press the green Change function

button, you can access the settings for the marked timer and

change them as described earlier in the „Programming the

timer manually“ section.

Deleting a programmed timer

> To delete an existing timer setting, mark it using the up/down

arrow buttons.

> Press the red Delete function button.

The following message appears: Really delete this timer?

> Use the left/right arrow buttons to mark the Yes item.

> To delete the timer, conﬁ rm with OK.

> Return to normal mode by pressing the Back button.

Caution!!!

Make sure the TV set has imported the clock time. If it has not, leave

your TV set switched on and set to the ZDF channel for around 30

seconds so that it can import the clock time.

During timer mode

The majority of the remote control‘s functions cannot be used so as

to prevent inadvertent cancellation of the recording.

Cancelling timer mode

If the television has activated the timer from standby mode, press

the On/Standby button to switch on the TV screen too.

> Press one of the buttons on the numerical keypad. The Stop

timer mode? query appears.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to mark the Yes ﬁ eld.

> Conﬁ rm with the OK button.

6.12.7.3 SFI programme overview

The SFI programme overview function allows you to display a

screen containing all the day‘s programmes for a particular channel.

Proceed as follows:

> Press the „SFI(EPG)“ button.

The „Now“ SFI screen appears.

> Press the yellow Program function button. The day‘s overview

now appears for the set channel.

> You can use the up/down arrow buttons to move the marker

to the desired programme or time. The days of the week are

displayed at the bottom edge of the screen. These ﬁ elds

are highlighted as soon as information is available for the

corresponding day.

> To display the programme schedule for a particular day, use the

numerical keypad to enter the number that corresponds to that

day of the week.

Displaying the SFI overview for other channels

> Press the blue Program function button. A list containing the

favourite channels appears in addition.

> You can now mark the desired channel using the arrow

buttons.

> You can display the SFI overview for the marked channel by

pressing the OK button.

6.12.7.4 Overview according to programme type/genre

If you are interested in a particular programme type you can display

the programme information according to certain genres e.g. ﬁ lm,

news, etc.

> Press the SFI(EPG) button.

The „Now“ SFI screen appears.

> Use the blue Genre function button to open a window with the

available programme types

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the desired

programme type and conﬁ rm with OK.

An overview now appears only containing programmes matching

the selected programme type.

> You can use the up/down arrow buttons to move the marker to

the desired programme. The days of the week are displayed at

the bottom edge of the screen. These ﬁ elds are highlighted as

soon as information is available for the corresponding day.

> To see the programme schedule for a particular day, use the

numerical keypad to enter the number that corresponds to that

day of the week.

6.12.8 Quitting SFI

> You can return to normal mode by pressing the Back button

– you may have to press the button several times.

7 Settings

Many of the television‘s settings can be changed with the help of

the OSD menus. The values that you set are stored automatically

whenever you exit the respective menu.

> Open the main menu by pressing the Menu button.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Settings item.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

The Settings menu appears.

7.1 Picture settings / VGA settings

To make changes to the picture settings or VGA settings, proceed

as follows:

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Picture Settings

item or VGA Settings item.

> Conﬁ rm with OK. The Picture Settings menu or VGA Settings

menu appears.

Backlight

For adjusting the display brightness to suit the brightness of the

surroundings.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Backlight item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the intensity of the

LCD panel‘s backlight.

Brightness

Increase the brightness if dark areas of the picture are no longer

displayed or decrease the brightness if black objects appear grey.

The optimum setting for the brightness control is in the middle

position.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Brightness item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the brightness as

desired.

Contrast

Increase the contrast if the picture appears „dull“. Decrease the

contrast if bright areas of the picture are no longer displayed.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Contrast item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the contrast.

Saturation

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Saturation item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the saturation.

Sharpness

The Minimum setting is advisable if MPEG artefacts (little blocks)

are visible and interfere with the picture (the picture is being

transmitted with a data rate that is too low). In the case of analogue

sources (e.g. video recorder), the Maximum setting can bring about

an improvement. In other cases, the Normal setting is advisable.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Sharpness item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to set the sharpness to

Minimum, Normal or Maximum.

Noise suppression only picture settings

The visual impression when viewing noisy sources (e.g. an old

ﬁ lm) can be improved with noise suppression. This improvement,

however, also results in a smearing effect seen during movements.

Staircase reduction

(only picture settings)

The staircase reduction setting optimises the footage recorded with

a television camera (interlaced) for progressive display on an LCD

screen. The picture recorded by a ﬁ lm camera is not affected by this.

It is advisable to activate staircase reduction.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Staircase

reduction item.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to switch staircase reduction

On or Off.

Motion compensation

(only picture settings)

The motion compensation feature prevents a bothersome

shuddering effect that can be seen during movement (in particular

during camera panning) when ﬁ lm footage is played back.

In contrast with television cameras, which record 50 frames per

second, ﬁ lm cameras record only 24 frames. This is not high

enough for fast movements. The motion compensation feature

therefore uses motion analysis to compute intermediate pictures

in a complicated computational process during running time. The

motion compensation feature should be activated.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Motion

compensation item.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to switch motion compensation

On or Off.

Aspect ratio

This setting lets you decide how programmes broadcast in 4:3 format

(standard television format) are displayed on your 16:9 widescreen

television. With the Original setting you can achieve undistorted

playback that is true to the original. Naturally you will see black bars

on the left and right of the picture.

The Always 16:9 setting zooms into the originally narrow picture so

that it ﬁ lls the entire width of your 16:9 screen. Although the black

bars disappear accordingly, the geometry of the displayed picture is

distorted (e.g. eggheads).

The Optimal setting is a compromise. In this case the geometry is

only slightly distorted so that faces still appear natural. In addition,

some picture information is cut off from the top and bottom.

This is generally not bothersome because broadcasters do not place

important information in this area anyway since standard cathode

ray television sets are incapable of displaying the entire picture due

to other technical reasons. With the Optimal setting, narrow black

bars remain visible on the left and right of the picture. To observe the

effect that these settings options have, select a programme being

broadcast in 4:3 format. Switch to the Optimal or Original setting.

You will now recognise a programme broadcast in 4:3 format by its

black bars on the sides.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Aspect ratio

item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to set the aspect ratio to

Original, Always 16:9 or Optimal.

Format detection only picture settings

With this setting you can adjust to the automatic detection of 16:9

programmes. Generally the picture source signals whether the

programme is being broadcast in 4:3 format or 16:9 format.

With the Signaling setting activated, the programme is displayed

correctly according to the picture format that is signalled. Signalling,

however, might not be provided. In this case, your television assumes

that the programme is being broadcast in 4:3 format.

A 16:9 programme without signalling will now be displayed with black

bars on the left and right as well as at the top and bottom (if you

have selected the Always 16:9 option for the aspect ratio setting,

the bars will only be at the top and bottom). If a 16:9 programme is

not indicated as being 16:9, you have the option of using the zoom

function to increase the size of the picture appropriately (blue button

on the remote control, see also Point 6.11).

If you have selected the Bar detection setting and signalling is not

provided, the television set will automatically recognise whether it is

a 16:9 programme by the black bars.

The television will then switch to 16:9 display automatically after a

short time.

Unfortunately, however, some broadcasters do not signal a 16:9

programme because they want to place advertising in the black bars

at the top and bottom. This causes the automatic switchover feature

to switch over at frequent intervals depending on whether the bars

really are black or whether they contain picture information.

In this case, it is advisable to select the Signaling setting instead

of the Black bars setting and then to adjust the display manually

using the zoom function (blue button on the remote control). In the

unlikely case that a 4:3 programme is mistakenly signalled as a

16:9 programme, you can deactivate format detection by selecting

the Off option.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Format detection

item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to set format detection to Black

bars or Signaling.

If you do not want automatic format detection, set format

detection to Off.

Horizontal position

(only VGA settings)

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Horizontal

position item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the horizontal

position.

Trigger level

(only VGA settings)

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Trigger level

item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the trigger level.

> To return to normal mode, press the Menu button.

7.2 Sound settings

To make changes to the sound settings, proceed as follows:

> Open the Settings menu as described in Section 7.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Sound settings

item.

> Conﬁ rm with OK. The Sound settings menu appears.

Volume

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Volume item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the volume that is

applied when the television switches on.

Treble

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Treble item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the treble as

desired.

Bass

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Bass item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the bass.

Balance

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Balance item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to adjust the balance.

Spatial effect

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Spatial effect

item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to switch the spatial effect On

or Off.

Automatic volume levelling (AVL)

AVL is used for playing back different sources at the same volume

over the internal loudspeakers. Using this feature saves you possibly

having to adjust the volume when you switch to a different channel

or input. Furthermore, commercials that are sometimes broadcast

at higher volume levels will also have their volume reduced after a

short time.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the AVL item.

7.3 Parental control

Your TV set is equipped with a parental control function. This allows

you to secure important functions (e.g. opening the main menu)

against unauthorised access. Furthermore, you can lock certain

channels so that they can only be viewed after a four-digit PIN code

has been entered. To change the settings in the Parental control

menu, proceed as follows:

> Open the main menu by pressing the Menu button.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Settings item.

> Conﬁ rm by pressing the OK button. The Settings submenu

appears.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Parental control

item.

> Conﬁ rm by pressing the OK button.

The Parental control menu appears.

> You can use the up/down arrow buttons to move the marker

within the menu and modify the individual items as speciﬁ ed.

Please also take note of the on-screen information that might

appear when you select a menu item.

7.3.1 Ask PIN

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Ask PIN item.

> In this line you can use the right/left arrow buttons to change

the parental control mode to Always, Once or Off.

Always

With the setting set to Always, the main menu and locked channels

are always locked.

Once

With the setting set to Once, the PIN only needs to be entered once

during a phase of operation in order to gain access to the main

menu or locked channels.

Off

With the setting set to Off, the parental control is deactivated.

7.3.2 Entering a new PIN

The factory default setting of the PIN code is 0000. To change the

television‘s PIN code, proceed as follows:

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Enter new PIN

item.

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the new PIN code.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Repeat new PIN

item.

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the new PIN code again.

Caution!

You must not forget the television‘s PIN code. If you do, please

contact your dealer!

7.3.3 Selecting channels

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Select channels

item.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

A window opens that allows you to edit the program lists (TV list

or radio list).

The list of favourites appears on the right half of the screen.

The TV channel that is currently set is marked in the list of

favourites.

On the left half of the screen you will see the alphabetically

sorted provider list.

> You can switch between the TV list and the radio list by pressing

the green function button.

> Now use the arrow buttons to mark the channel that you want

to lock.

> Lock the channel by pressing the red function button. The

parental control symbol

appears next to the selected

channel.

Marking several at the same time

To mark several channels at the same time, proceed as follows:

> Press the OK button to enter selection mode. The marked

channel is displayed with a blue background.

7.4.1 Selecting channels

the red SFI function button to include the marked channels in

the electronic program journal.

> If you want to display the channels for a particular provider, press

the yellow Provider list function button. The marker switches to

the left half of the screen to the overview of providers.

> Use the arrow buttons to mark the desired provider and conﬁ rm

with OK.

> The marker switches back to the right half of the screen. A list

of favourite channels for the selected provider is then displayed

there.

The channels appear together with their program place

numbers.

7.4.2 Download time

> In the Download time menu item, use the numerical keypad

to set the time at which the SFI data should be automatically

downloaded.

7.4.3 SFI download

> To receive the data channel, mark the SFI download item.

> Activate the download function (Yes) by pressing OK.

If you do not wish to receive this additional data or if you

cannot receive it due to your location, you can deactivate data

reception:

> Switch off SFI download (No) to deactivated data reception.

Caution:

The television must be in standby mode in order for it to be

able to download the new SFI data automatically.

> To manually start the SFI data update, press the green Update

function button.

> You can now use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the

following/previous channels too.

> After you have marked the desired channels in this way, press

the red function button to lock the marked channels.

> If you want to display the channels for a particular provider, press

the yellow Provider list function button. The marker switches to

the left half of the screen to the overview of providers.

> Use the arrow buttons to mark the desired provider and conﬁ rm

with OK.

> The marker switches back to the right half of the screen. A list

of favourite channels for the selected provider is then displayed

there.

The channels appear together with their program place

numbers.

> After you have conﬁ gured the parental control menu as desired,

return to normal mode by pressing the Menu button.

> To unlock individual channels, proceed as described above to

mark the relevant channel and then remove the parental control

symbol by pressing the red function button.

7.3.4 Lock-out function

Your TV set is also equipped with a lock-out function. If it is activated,

the TV set can only be switched on using the remote control. The

TV set cannot be switched on by pressing the buttons on the

television.

Activating the lock-out function

> Press and hold down the Option button for around 2 seconds

until the „TV set locked. Switch to stand-by“ message appears.

> Switch the TV set to standby mode.

Deactivating the lock-out function

> Switch on the television set using the remote control. The lockout

function is now deactivated.

7.4 Programming the electronic program journal

Your TV set is capable of receiving data channels with additional

SFI data. These allow your television to display an SFI preview of

up to a week.

If you have satellite reception, you can receive this data channel over

the ASTRA satellite systems (19.2° East). To receive the equivalent

data channel over DVB-C or DVB-T too, the data channel must be

available on your cable network or in your DVBT reception area.

> Open the main menu by pressing the Menu button.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Settings item.

> Conﬁ rm by pressing the OK button. The Settings submenu

appears.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Program journal

item.

> Conﬁ rm by pressing the OK button.

The Program journal menu appears.

> You can use the up/down arrow buttons to move the marker

within the menu and modify the individual items as speciﬁ ed.

Please also take note of the on-screen information that might

appear when you select a menu item.

7.4.4 SFI channel (DVB-S)

If the parameters of the data channel used for downloading the SFI

list via satellite have changed you can correct them in this menu. You

can obtain the current transponder data from your dealer. Normally

you should not make any changes in this menu.

> Press the OK button to open the SFI channel (DVB-S)

submenu.

7.4.5 SFI channel (DVB-C/T)

If the data channel used for downloading the SFI list via cable or

terrestrial has changed, you can correct it in this menu. You can ﬁ nd

out the current data channel from your dealer. Normally you do not

need to change this.

> Press the OK button to open the SFI channel (DVB-C/T)

submenu.

Your TV set now carries out a test to ﬁ nd out on which channel

the data channel is being transmitted and, if the channel is

available, adds it to the settings. You can also set the channel

manually.

> To do so, press the OK button. A list of the available channels

appears.

> Use the arrow buttons to set the channel from which the SFI

data can be downloaded and conﬁ rm with OK.

> After you have conﬁ gured the Parental control menu as desired,

return to normal mode by pressing the Menu button.

7.5 Antenna settings

7.5.1 DVB-S

> Open the Settings menu as described in Section 7.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Antenna settings

(DVB-S) item.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

The Antenna settings (DVB-S) menu appears.

7.5.1.1 Switching DiSEqC on/off

DiSEqC (Digital Satellite Equipment Control) is a digital control

signal for controlling DiSEqC-compatible components over the

antenna cable. If your external unit is equipped with DiSEqC

components, you must enable DiSEqC control:

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to switch DiSEqC On or Off in

this menu item.

Since only one LNB can be addressed when DiSEqC control is

disabled, the menu is limited to the conﬁ guration of one LNB.

If you disable DiSEqC, the system also asks you whether you

would like to delete the programs of DiSEqC positions 2 to 4.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to select Yes or No and

conﬁ rm with OK.

7.5.1.2 Setting the switching matrix

The four switching criteria of the DiSEqC control system are listed

in the antenna settings (DVB-S) menu. Your TV set has been pre-

programmed so that ASTRA is received at switch position A/A and

Eutelsat at switch position B/A of a multiswitch.

If the switching matrix of your receiving installation is structured

differently or if you want to receive other satellites, you can adapt

the television‘s conﬁ guration to suit your receiving installation as

follows.

> Use the arrow buttons to select the DiSEqC switch position (1-

4) that you want to assign a satellite to (e.g. A/B 3 No satellite)

by marking this item.

> Press the OK button.

A selection screen containing various satellites appears.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the desired satellite.

You can use the up/down arrow buttons to move the marker

up or down one line at a time and the left/right arrow buttons to

switch to the next or previous page.

If the satellite that you want is not available in the list, please

select a reserve location indicated by User 1 to User 12.

> Conﬁ rm with OK. The marked satellite will be inserted in the

previously marked position.

Edit this menu as described until the details correspond with

those of your receiving unit. Set No satellite for the switching

criteria that you do not need.

7.5.1.3 Further settings / LNB properties

Once you have conﬁ gured the switching matrix of your DVB-S

module to suit your receiving installation, you must now check and if

necessary correct the remaining settings for your receiving unit.

> To do so, use the left/right arrow buttons to move the marker

to the Check LNB column.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Check LNB ﬁ eld

in the line whose settings you want to check or change.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

A submenu appears in which you can conﬁ gure the LNB settings

and specify a test transponder.

You can conﬁ gure the following settings:

LNB type

> Use the arrow buttons to mark the LNB type ﬁ eld and conﬁ rm

with OK. A window appears containing the available LNB types.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the LNB type that you

use. You can select Single/Twin LNB, Quatro LNB, DisiCon 1

LNB, DisiCon 2 LNB, DisiCon 4 LNB, C-Band LNB as well as

a User LNB for manually entering the LNB data.

> You can accept the setting by pressing the OK button.

Test transponder

You must only enter details for the following items in this menu if you

want to check a satellite‘s signal. Please refer to the program lists

published in specialist magazines (e.g. Infosat) or on the Internet to

obtain the necessary data.

Symbol rate

The symbol rate deﬁ nes how much data is transmitted per second.

This can, for example, be 27500 (i.e. 27,500 symbols per second).

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the relevant symbol rate.

Frequency

> Use the numerical keypad to enter a frequency on which digital

programmes are broadcast.

Polarization

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the desired

polarization (horizontal or vertical).

User LNB

If you have entered User LNB under LNB type, you can conﬁ gure

additional settings:

Low band

LOF (local oscillator frequency) is the frequency with which an LNB

converts the received frequency into the ﬁ rst intermediate frequency,

which can then be received by the DVB module.

Universal LNBs work with 2 LOFs in order to be able to convert the

entire reception range of 10.7 to 11.8 GHz (low band) and 11.7 to

12.75 GHz (high band).

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the LOF of your LNB‘s low

band in this line.

High band

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the LOF of your LNB‘s high

band in this line.

Transition LOF low/high

> Use the numerical keypad to enter the frequency at which your

LNB switches from low band to high band.

Signal quality

If you have entered the details for the test transponder correctly, you

will see the signal quality displayed in this menu item.

7.5.2 Antenna settings (DVB-T)

Your television set has a signal strength indicator to help you

optimally align the DVB-T antenna.

> Open the main menu by pressing the Menu button.

> Now select the Settings menu item by marking it with the up/

down arrow buttons.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

The Settings menu appears.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Antenna settings

(DVB-T) item.

> You can then open the Antenna settings (DVB-T) menu by

pressing the OK button.

> Now position your antenna in such a way that the level indicator

displays a maximum deﬂ ection for the channels that you can

receive at your location.

Antenna feed

If you are using an active antenna without an external power supply,

you will need to activate the antenna feed (5 V / 30 mA).

The antenna will then be fed with power via the antenna input

connection provided that the antenna accepts power supplied over

the coaxial cable.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Antenna feed

item.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to switch the antenna feed On

or Off.

8 Program search

To tune into all the available channels or new channels, there are

several options available for carrying out a program search.

1. Automatic search

Use this search method to scan the television‘s entire reception

range for channels.

2. Extended search

Use this search method to scan only one reception range for

channels (FM Radio, Analogue C, DVB-S, DVB-C or DVB-T).

3. Manual search

Use this search method to scan a channel, a frequency or a

transponder for an analogue program or for digital programs or

to search for a particular program using program-speciﬁ c PID

numbers.

> To perform a program search, ﬁ rst open the main menu.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the Program search

item.

> Conﬁ rm with OK.

The Program search submenu appears.

> Use the up/down arrow buttons to mark the desired search

method and conﬁ rm with OK.

8.1 Automatic search

With this search method, the selected reception area or areas will

be searched for channels/stations automatically.

> Mark the individual reception areas (DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T,

Analogue CT or FM Radio) using the up/down arrow buttons.

> Set the reception areas that you want to scan to Yes using the

right/left arrow buttons.

The reception areas marked with No will not be scanned during

the automatic search.

> Use the right/left arrow buttons to set the desired search mode

in the search mode line. (All programs or Free only)

Start search

> To start the search, press the green Start search function

button.

The duration of the search depends on the reception areas

you have selected. Please also take note of the on-screen

information.

A message appears on-screen after the search.
