INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of the Marmitek X-10 wireless indoor siren PH7208.
This siren operates in response to X-10 commands. These commands are transmitted
onto the mains by Marmitek alarm systems or by a Marmitek SM10 interface. By using
a universal X-10 transmitter (Model SM10) this additional siren can therefore also be
connected to a security system other than a Marmitek X-10 system.
INSTALLATION
One or more additional sirens can be connected to a security system. In order to activate
them the so-called Unit and House Code on the alarm console or interface must be set to
the same address as the address on the siren. The standard factory setting is A-1. The
address can be set using the code dials. The PH7208 can be connected to any wall socket.
The Marmitek sirens operate without additional wiring. To do so a technology is used
whereby the command to activate the siren is transmitted through the mains. The con-
dition for this is that the sirens are connected to the same phase as the alarm system (or
another group within the same phase where appropriate). If this is not possible then
phase connection filters or repeaters should be used (e.g. FD10, CAT3000).

USING THE PH7208
To prevent false alarms the technology used waits for 5 command cycles (20 seconds)
before the siren is activated. After the siren has been activated it emits a piercing two-
tone signal for 4 minutes. After this the siren switches off automatically (or before this
if the alarm is deactivated).
CAUTION: When using Marmitek alarm systems these sirens always operate during an
alarm, regardless of whether the silent alarm function has or has not been switched on!
SIGNAL RANGE
The Marmitek X-10 System is based on power line communication. The range of the
Marmitek X-10 signals very much depends on the local circumstances. On average the
range is a cable length of 80 meters.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does the PH7208 also work during a power failure?
No, the PH7208 receives it power from the 230V mains. The communications from the
station to the PH7208 is also via the 230V wiring.
