PREREQUISITES
MBC or RBC enclosure mounted with at
least one open slot on the C-BUS and AC
power connected.
Backups made of the current database for
all Open Processors and other Controller
Modules in the enclosure.
Both systems installed and checked out by
certified representatives of the companies
that installed each system. These checkouts
must confirm that each system is operating
and ready to communicate with the other
system.
Building level network (BLN) cable, if used,
fed into the MBC or RBC enclosure. If
necessary, splice in a connector for the
Open Processor. (Connecting this cable is
done later during start-up.)

a. Notify the appropriate building personnel
that you will be turning OFF power to the
enclosure, and tell them what equipment
will be affected.
b. Follow all shutdown procedures necessary

If the MBC or RBC enclosure already
houses one or more Controller
Modules and/or Open Processors,
make sure their batteries are good. If
any battery status LED is red when
the power is ON, replace the battery
before proceeding.
2. Turn OFF power to the MBC or RBC enclosure.
3. If you are installing the Open Processor in an
empty MBC or RBC enclosure, remove the
temporary cover (Figure 2) that is wrapped
around the mounting rails, M-BUS rails, and the
C-BUS. Save one connector for FLN 1 and one
for the BLN if it is used.

4. Remove the C-BUS cover from the lowest
available slot and discard it.
5. Remove any M-BUS protective tape from the
M-BUS.
6. Remove the warning label from the Open
Processor to expose the C-BUS card (Figure 3).

Improperly aligning and/or installing
the Open Processor may damage it.
1. On the right-hand side of the Open Processor,
locate the lower mounting guide (Figure 4).
2. Locate the round mounting rail on the far right
edge of the right-hand M-BUS rail (Figure 4).
3. Align the module’s lower mounting guide with
the lowest available slot next to the round
mounting rail (Figure 4).
4. Insert the lower and upper mounting guides into
the mounting slot and hook them into place
(Figure 4).
5. Push the left side of the Open Processor
forward so that its C-BUS card edge and
M-BUS connector mate with the C-BUS
connector and M-BUS rails (Figure 5). When
the Open Processor is seated properly, you will
hear a “click.”
6. If the Open Processor needs to be repositioned:
a. Locate the module’s latch (on the module’s
far left end). Release the latch by pulling it
toward you.
b. Swing the left end of the Open Processor
toward you to remove the module from its
C-BUS slot (Figure 5).
c. Pull on the Open Processor to remove its
mounting guides from the round mounting
rail (Figure 4).
d. Repeat Steps 2 through 5 above.
1. Turn ON power to the MBC or RBC enclosure.
2. If you changed the operating state of any
equipment, restore it to its previous state.
