- Do not use the appliance if it is not working
correctly or if it has been damaged. Under
no circumstances should you dismantle the
kettle.
- Any operation other than normal cleaning
and servicing by the customer should be
carried out by a Moulinex approved service
centre.
- This product has been designed for domestic
use only. Any commercial use, inappropriate
use or failure to comply with the instructions,
the manufacturer accepts no responsibility
and the guarantee will not apply.
- Do not leave the appliance within the reach
of children. The use of this appliance by
children or handicapped people should be
avoided unless under supervision.
- Never move the kettle when it is working.
- Do not use the kettle when your hands are
wet or your feet are bare.
- This appliance is not intended for use by
persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capacities, or
lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruc-
tion concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety. Children
should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the appliance.
Using your kettle
- Before rst use, rinse the inside of your
kettle, then ll it with cold tape water and
boil and empty it and repeat.
- Place your kettle, and the base, on a stable,
heat resistant surface, away from water
splashes and other sources of heat.
- With the kettle unplugged or removed from
its base, ll it through the pouring spout or
via the open lid, to between the min and max
marks.
- Close the lid, and connect the kettle or place
it on its base.
- For the FLA1 ,BAB1, BY4001, BY4011 , and
BY1001 models:
Press the off switch to lock/unlock the lid.
Automatic locking is indicated by a “click”
and the return of the switch.
- Connect to the mains.
- Switch on by setting the switch to “I”.
- The kettle stops automatically as soon as
the water boils. Make sure that the kettle
is switched off before removing it from its
base.

Thank you for choosing an appliance from the
Moulinex range which is intended exclusively
for the heating of water.
Safety recommendations
- Use your kettle only for the heating of drinking
water.
- Place the kettle and its cord well to the back
of the worktop.
- Keep the kettle and the power cord away
from any source of away heat, from any wet
or slippery surface, and from any edges.
- Do not ll to above the max level or below
the min level. If the kettle is over-lled, boiling
water may be ejected.
- Do not open the lid when the water is boi-
ling.
- Check that the electrical installation is
compatible with the power and the voltage
indicated underneath your model.
- Only plug the kettle in to a socket with an
earth incorporated.
Any connection error will negate the
guarantee.
- Read the instructions for use carefully before
using your appliance for the rst time: in the
event of any commercial use, inappropriate
use or failure to comply with the instructions,
the manufacturer accepts no responsibility
and the guarantee will not apply.
- Your kettle must be used only with the lid
closed, and with its associated base (for
kettles with a base).
- The use of multiple sockets and/or mains
extension leads is not recommended.
- Do not place the appliance, the base, the
power cable or the plug in water or any other
liquid.
- Do not use abrasive pads for cleaning.
- To remove the anti-scale lter, take the kettle
off its base, and leave it to cool. Never re-
move the lter when the appliance is full of
hot water.
- Our guarantee excludes kettles which do
not work or which work badly, due to the
absence of anti-scaling.
- Never use any anti-scaling method other than
that recommended.
- Do not use the kettle if the cord or the plug
is damaged. In order to avoid all danger,
you should have the faulty item replaced by
a Moulinex approved service centre.

- You can also switch the kettle off at any time
during the heating process by setting the
switch to “0”.
- Empty the water from your kettle completely
after each use.
Cleaning
To clean your kettle :
- Unplug your kettle or remove it from its
base.
- Leave it to cool, and then wipe over the kettle
with a damp sponge.
To clean the lter (depending on model):
- Clean the lter regularly. Rinse it in clean
running water use a soft, non-metallic brush
if required.
De-scaling
- Descale your kettle regularly.
- Use:
1) a descaler specically intended for PLAS-
TIC kettles. Follow the manufacturer’s ins-
tructions closely.
2) or white vinegar.
Pour 1/2 l of white vinegar into the kettle.
Leave it to stand for one hour without
heating. Empty your kettle then rinse it four
or ve times.
3) or citric acid. Boil 0.5 l of water. Add 25 g of
citric acid. Leave it to work for 15 minutes.
Empty your kettle then rinse it four or ve
times.
- Repeat if necessary.
- If you are using citric acid, always dilute it
with water.
- Never descale your kettle when it is
empty.
- Before using again, ll your kettle with cold
water (to max mark) then boil and discard the
water. Repeat this procedure once more.
In the event of a problem
- Check :
. the connection.
. that the kettle is correctly positioned on its
base.
. that the switch is set to “I”.
. that the kettle has not operated without
water.

FLA1, FLB1, BAB1, BY4001, BY4011 and
BY1001 models: ll the appliance with cold
water, take the kettle off its base and put it
back again so as to reset the automatic cut-
off system.
Other models: ll the appliance with cold
water, wait for 1 minute, then try again.
- If your appliance only works intermittently or
stops before reaching the boiling point, it may
require descaling.
If your appliance is still not working, contact
a Moulinex approved service centre (see list
in the “Moulinex Service” booklet).

Prevention of domestic
accidents
- Unplug the appliance when you are not using
it and when you clean or descale it.
- Take care if carrying the kettle when it
contains hot water.
- Gently tilt your kettle and always pour hot
or boiling water slowly to prevent any risk of
burning or scalds.
- Keep your hands away from the pouring lip
when the water is coming to the boil, and
avoid any contact with the hot surfaces of
the appliance.
