SECTION 1 − SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND SIGNAL WORDS
1-1 GENERAL INFORMATION AND SAFETY
A. General
Information presented in this manual pertains to equip-
ment design, installation, and operation which should be
read, understood, and followed for the safe and effec-
tive use of this equipment.
B. Safety
The installation, operation, maintenance, and trouble-
shooting of resistance spot welding equipment requires
practices and procedures which ensure personal safety
and the safety of others. Therefore, this equipment is to
be installed, operated, and maintained only by qualified
persons in accordance with this manual and all applica-
ble codes such as, but not limited to, those listed at the
end of Section 1 − Safety Rules For Operation Of Resis-
tance Spot Welding Equipment in the spot welder
Owner’s Manual.

WORDS
The following safety alert symbol and signal words are
used throughout this manual to call attention to and
identify different levels of hazard and special instruc-
tions.
This safety alert symbol is used with the signal
words WARNING and CAUTION to call atten-
tion to the safety statements.
WARNING statements identify procedures or
practices which must be followed to avoid seri-
ous personal injury or loss of life.
CAUTION statements identify procedures or
practices which must be followed to avoid minor
personal injury or damage to this equipment.
IMPORTANT statements identify special instructions
necessary for the most efficient operation of this equip-
ment.
1-3. DESCRIPTION
The Gyro Bail is designed for use with portable resis-
tance spot welders. Usually used with a boom and
counterweight or with a spring-loaded cable, the Gyro
Bail hangs the weight of the welder and enables the op-
erator to rotate the welder 360°.
The alpha-numeric model designation refers to the fol-
lowing:

15/25 − Rating of resistance spot welder that Gyro Bail
is designed to be used with is 1.5 and/or 2.5 kVA.
SECTION 2 − INSTALLATION
WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill.
• Do not touch live electrical parts.
• Shut down unit, and disconnect input
power employing lockout/tagging proce-
dures before beginning this installation.
Lockout/tagging procedures consist of
padlocking line disconnect switch in open po-
sition, removing fuses from fuse box, or shut-
ting off and red-tagging circuit breaker or
other disconnecting device.
IMPORTANT: All directions, such as left or right, are
with respect to the operator facing the front of the resis-
tance spot welder. Retain all hardware removed during
this procedure for reinstallation unless specifically told
otherwise.
CAUTION MOVING PARTS can cause injury.
• Keep away from pinch points.
1. Install and secure left mounting bracket (bracket
containing four holes) to left side of unit as shown
in Figure 3-1.
2. Install and secure right mounting bracket.
3. Install upper and lower bearings onto left mount-
ing bracket, securing each with the supplied
internal lock washer and nut.
4. Install gyro bail ring onto the bearings on the left
mounting bracket (bearings ride on inside of
ring).
5. Holding the ring in place, install the bearing onto
the right mounting bracket, aligning the bolt hole
in the bearing with the hole in the bracket. Slip the
supplied bolt through the bearing and bracket,
and secure.
