ALTUS MESO INSTALLATION MANUAL
Thank you for purchasing the Aithre Altus Meso, wireless portable oxygen tank pressure monitor. Please
follow the following instructions to safely install your Altus Meso and begin monitoring tank pressure on
your iOS device.
WARNINGS
1. DO NOT USE ANY FITTINGS FROM THE LOCAL HARDWARE STORE OR THAT ARE NOT RATED FOR
LESS THAN 5000 PSI AS THEY COULD FRACTURE OR EXPLODE UNDER THE HIGH PRESSURE OF
YOUR OXYGEN TANK. BRASS RETAIL FITTINGS ARE TYPICALLY ONLY ABLE TO WITHSTAND 100-
300 PSI.
2. REMOVAL OF YOUR PRESSURE GAUGE DURING INSTALLATION REQUIRES YOUR TANK TO BE
EMPTY AND UNDER NO PRESSURE PER THE INSTRUCTIONS.
3. Some tanks may require an extension M-F 1/8 NPT fitting in order for the Aithre tee fitting to clear
the tank during installation. Contact Aithre to purchase a high pressure extension.
4. Pressure rating of the Aithre Altus is 0-2500 PSI with a transient rating of up to 5000 PSI.
5. Use oxygen grade thread tape during installation as instructed.
INSTALLATION
6. EMPTY YOUR OXYGEN TANK OR YOUR GAUGE WILL BE A PROJECTILE THAT COULD CAUSE SEVERE
INJURY OR DEATH.
7. Unscrew your existing pressure gauge to expose a hole.
8. Screw the 1/8 NPT tee fitting into the exposed hole
using oxygen grade thread tape an extension 1/8 NPT M-F fitting may be required and is
available from Aithre in order for the tee fitting to clear certain tanks.
9. Screw the existing pressure gauge onto the tee fitting in either of the two open positions as
desired using oxygen grade thread tape. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR EXISTING PRESSURE GAUGE OFF
OF THE TEE FITTING AS THE TEE FITTING MUST BE CLOSED ON ALL PORTS.
10. Screw the Altus Meso pressure gauge onto the tee fitting using oxygen grade thread tape.
11. Verify that the tee fitting, manual pressure
gauge, and the Aithre pressure gauge have been
installed securely. Test fill with oxygen and check for slow leak using soapy water.
12. Connect the Altus Meso USB wire to the Altus Meso pressure gauge. THE QUICK RELEASE
CONNECTION OF THE USB WIRE TO THE ALTUS PRESSURE GAUGE CAN SAFELY BE REMOVED
UNDER PRESSURE AS IT IS MERELY AN ELECTRICAL COUPLING.
13. Plug in the Meso USB cord to the included power bank. Note that ship USB power may be used
instead of the provided USB power bank. However, other USB power banks may not work
because the Meso draws so little power that other power banks may automatically shut off. The
provided USB power bank is configured to operate and stay on at very low power levels required
by the Meso.
14. Download Aithre Connect iOS and companion WatchOS application from
the Apple Store. Open the Aithre Connect iOS application, flip to the Altus
page in the iOS application, and turn on the Altus for automatic pairing
if pairing issues present make sure your wireless phone antenna is on,
make sure you enabled access to wireless communication by the Aithre
app in iOS settings, and ecycle the Altus power - there is NO manual
pairing of the Altus.
15. Use the Oxygen tank and regulator as per tank and regulator manufacturer instructions. Use the
backup manual pressure gauge to verify contents of your oxygen tank before takeoff.
16. If using the Aithre Shield EX 3 for wireless Oxgyen PSI on your Dynon, G3x, Advanced, or MGL
avionics, keep the Aithre Connect App running in the foreground or background to reinforce the
wireless signal between the Altus and the EX 3.
