Double Pulse and Double Level Guide - MIG225Ai
Alternate the wire speed between high wire speed and low wire speed while maintaining penetration for
a continuous weld that is visibly similar to a TIG weld. Ideal for vertical or overhead welding.
Double Pulse and Double Level are the same except:
* When Process is set to SHORT, you can enable Double Level
– Alternate wire speeds with a standard short process
– Recommended for Steel
* When Process is set to PULSE, you can enable Double Pulse
– Alternate wire speeds with a high frequency voltage pulse
– Recommended for Aluminum
To Enable or Disable Double Pulse
1. From the Home Screen, Press and Hold until you see the Main Menu (Process Parameters)
2. Turn to scroll down to Double Pulse (Double Level) and Click to select
3. Click to select ON or OFF
4. Press and Hold to exit back to the home screen
* For best results run a short test bead to first set your desired Voltage and Average Wire Speed before using Double Pulse
Double Pulse has Four Adjustable Parameters:
Frequency
* Set the Number of Cycles per Second
– Example: 2Hz Frequency will run 2 full cycles per second
(a) 1 cycle = 1 high wire speed phase and 1 low wire speed phase
– Factory Preset at 1.5Hz
Pulse Step
* Set the Change in Wire Speed from the average wire speed
– Example: 50i Pulse Step (±50 inches per minute) with system wire speed set at 250ipm
(a) 300ipm at high speed and 200ipm at low speed
– Factory Preset at 39i
Duty Cycle
* Set the Percentage of Time for High Wire Speed during a cycle
– Example: 60% duty cycle
(a) 60% high speed and 40% low speed
– Factory Preset at 50%
Arc Correct
* Fine adjustment for Voltage during High Wire Speed phase
– Example: +2.5 Arc Correct will increase the Voltage by 2.5V
(a) Only effects the Voltage during high wire speed
– Factory Preset at 0.0V
