Safety information
Operating voltage and mains voltage
as well as the current must agree (see
rating plate on the bottom of the
appliance).
Connect only to a correctly installed
shockproof socket.
Items being toasted can ignite. For this
reason do not use the toaster near or
underneath curtains or other
flammable materials. Do not operate
the toaster and leave it unattended.
Do not place it on hot surfaces.
Do not use near a naked flame.
Do not toast below or near flammable
objects (e.g. curtains).
Toasted items can ignite if toasted
several times, therefore after toasting
only use the keep warm setting.
Keep children well away from
electrical appliances.
Do not cover the toasting slot. Never
place rolls or bread directly in the
toasting slot.
Do not immerse the appliance in
water.
Do not allow the electrical lead to be
kinked, do not allow it to touch parts
of the appliance when they are hot.
The lead is to be completely unwound
when the appliance is in operation.
Never remove the plug from the power
point by pulling on the lead.
Before cleaning or in the event of a
fault, first remove the plug from the
power point. Remove jammed toasted
items with a blunt wooden stick (e.g.
the handle of a wooden spoon). Do not
touch the heating elements when
doing this.
Do not put your fingers or metal
objects into the toasting slot - there is
a risk of injury or damage.
The body casing and the metal parts
in the toasting slot and on the
bottom become very hot during use
– be careful when touching the
toaster!
To carry the appliance when it is still
hot from use, only take hold of it by
the handles.
Do not operate the appliance when the
electrical lead is damaged or the body
has visible damage.
This electrical lead is a special lead
and may only be replaced by the
Customer Service Department, as a
special tool is required to replace it.
Repairs to electrical appliances may
only be carried out by qualified
service engineers. Improper repairs
can give rise to significant hazards
for the user.
For this reason, in the event of a fault
please contact your specialist dealer or
contact Customer Service directly.
If the appliance is used for purposes
for which it is not intended or is
operated incorrectly, no liability for
any damage can be accepted.

Before using the appliance for
the first time
To prevent unpleasant smells, the
appliance should be operated several
times at an open window on the
highest toasting setting without any
bread. Let the toaster cool down to
room temperature between the
heating up phases.
Using the appliance for the first
time
Placing the slices of bread in the
toaster
Setting the degree of browning
(Fig.2)
Using the control knob you can set the
degree of browning anywhere between
setting 1 and 6, depending on what
you like. Setting 1 for the lightest
browning. Setting 6 for the darkest
browning. Set a setting between 1 and
3 when you start toasting. If the
browning is not as you wish, set the
control lower or higher as appropriate,
e.g. higher when toasting brown bread
or granary bread. When toasting just 1
slice and also when toasting old bread,
the degree of browning should be set a
little lower.
Once a degree of browning is set it is
kept to for the same sort and quality of
bread by means of the electronic
toasting time control.
Switching on (Fig. 3)
Plug the plug into the power point.
Select degree of browning and press
the On switch downwards. After the
desired degree of browning is reached,
the toaster automatically switches
itself off, the slices of toast are lifted
up ready to be taken out. By lifting the
On switch (Bread Lift function) the
toast can be lifted up so that it is easy
to remove (Fig. 4).
Stop button (Fig. 5)
If you want to stop the toasting
process, press the Stop button or lift
the On switch.
The appliance switches off. The degree
of browning once set remains
unchanged.
Warming button (Fig. 5)
To warm toasted bread, press the
Warming button as well, to keep the
toasted items warm and crisp.
Defrosting button (Fig. 5)
For frozen bread, press the Defrosting
button as well. This increases the
toasting time.
Cleaning and Care (Fig. 6)
Before any cleaning, remove the mains
plug from the power point and let the
toaster cool down. The crumbs that fall
off when toasting collect in the crumb
drawer. Pull it out sideways and
remove the crumbs.
To clean the body do not use any
sharp or abrasive cleaners. Only clean
the body with a dry or a slightly damp
cloth.
The toaster must not be treated with or
immersed in a liquid.
Storing bread for toasting
(Fig. 7)
To achieve even toasting, opened bread
wrappers should be closed again and
be stored with the opened end
downwards:
A = correct
B = incorrect
