1-1. Overview
Intelligent Device Controller (iDC) boards BKSI-2040 series (BKSI-2042/2043/2044) and BKSI-2440
series (BKSI-2440/2441) are installed in System Interface Unit SIU-80A/80, so as to control the devices
(Network Storage System, VTR, Routing Switcher, etc.) which are used in Server Management System
(SMS).
. The required power for operation of each board is supplied from System Interface Unit SIU-80A/80.
. The model label (1 set) is supplied with each board.
BKSI-2440 : iDC CPU BOARD (CPU-356 BOARD)
This is the main CPU board, and is used for the following two purposes.
1. For root controller
Transmits the application commands sent through the SMS gateway to the iDC boards
*
which are
controlled each device.
Multiple iDC boards controlling each device can be controlled by only one this board that is installed
in each Server Management System (SMS).
(The number of iDC boards which can be controlled by one this board depends on the installing
application software.)
*: Hereinafter, BKSI-2440/2441/2042/2043/2044 is described as iDC board.
2. For device controller
Each device of the SMS can be controlled when this board is used as a pair with each board BKSI-
2042, BKSI-2043 or BKSI-2044.
BKSI-2441 : iDC LINK INTERFACE BOARD (IF-905 BOARD)
This connector panel carrys out the interface with SMS gateway, or the interface between iDC boards.
BKSI-2042 : IDC SERIAL I/F CONNECTOR BOARD (IO-111 BOARD)
This connector panel is used for the RS-232C/422A interface.
Use this panel a pair with device controller BKSI-2440.
For details, refer to the Installation Manual for BKSI-2040.
BKSI-2043 : IDC PARALLEL I/F CONNECTOR BOARD (IO-109 BOARD)
This connector panel is used for the interface of the input and output signals at
the parallel contacts.
Use this panel a pair with device controller BKSI-2440.
For details, refer to the Installation Manual for BKSI-2040.
BKSI-2044 : IDC S-BUS I/F CONNECTOR BOARD (IO-110 BOARD)

w
Do not install with the power on
Touching the power contact portion or the primary
winding circuit on the SIU-80A/80 may cause electric
shock. Turn off the power and unplug the power cord from
the outlet before installing.
Information for inserting slot
A. When the board uses for root controller
Insert this board into the No.1 slot.
It is necessary to install the one root controller board in the
one Server Management System (SMS).
n
The root controller BKSI-2440 is able to control the
multiple iDC boards in the one Server Management
System by the only one.
For that reason, the root controller board has only to install
in the one out of multiple SIU-80A/80 units which are
installed in the iDC boards.
Theres no need to install the root controller board to the
other SIU-80A/80 units.
(Refer to 1-3-2. Connection of iDC Link.)
B. When the board uses for device controller
Insert this board into any slot No.2 to No.8.
1-5 (E)
BKSI-2440
5. When remove the connector panel, turn the power off
and remove the power cord plug from the receptacle,
and then remove the panel in the reverse order of steps
1 through 4.
n
To remove the connector panel, pull the right and left
handles on the connector panel until the connection
with the mother board is sufficiently loose, then pull
out the connector panel gently.
Information for inserting slot
BKSI-2441
Insert this connector panel into the No.1 slot.
Use this panel a pair with the root controller BKSI-2440
(plug-in board) which is inserted into the No.1 slot in the
front of SIU-80A/80.
n
When Server Management System has the multiple SIU-
80A/80 units installed the iDC boards, the root controller
BKSI-2440 is installed in the only one of SIU-80A/80
units.
BKSI-2042/2043/2044
These connector panels are inserted into any slot No.2 to
No.8 in the rear of SIU-80A/80.
Use each panel a pair with device controller BKSI-2440
which is inserted in the front slot of SIU-80A/80.

Connection of multiple SIU-80A/80 units installed iDC boards
As an example, describes about the three SIU-80A/80 units connections.
Use the BKSI-2441 installed in the rear of each SIU-80A/80, when connecting the SIU-80A/80 units.
n
The maximum number of the connecting SIU-80A/80 units and iDC boards which are installed in
each SIU-80A/80 are depended on the installing software.
1. Install the boards to each SIU-80A/80.
Unit A : Install the BKSI-2441 to the No.1 slot in the rear of SIU-80A/80.
Install the root controller BKSI-2440 to the No.1 slot in the front of SIU-80A/80.
Unit B/C : Install the BKSI-2441 to the No.1 slot in the rear of SIU-80A/80.
(The No.1 slot in the front of SIU-80A/80 is empty.)
n
In this case, the root controller BKSI-2440 has only to install to the unit A of which is one out of
three SIU-80A/80 units. Theres no need to install the root controller BKSI-2440 to the unit B and
unit C.
(The root controller BKSI-2440 is able to control the multiple iDC boards in the one Server
Management System by the only one.)
2. Connect the SIU-80A/80 units using any cables RCC-5G, RCC-10G, and RCC-30G as shown in the
figure.
*1: Connected when a dual homing system (such as the FT server) is used as the SMS gateway.
n
The maximum total length of the cables connecting the SIU-80A/80 units is 30 m. (maximum data
transmission distance).
The cable shown in the figure 1 + 2 < 30 m
The cable shown in the figure 3 + 4 < 30 m
3. Set the link termination switches on the BKSI-2441 as shown in the figure.
