resolution. However,you maynot record on S-VHStapeswith this VCR.
Thisproducthasa 19micron headwhichprovidesa better picturewhenyou view
tapesrecorded in slow speed(SLP).
PhilipsConsumerBectronicsCompanyrecommends that you useonlyvideocas-
settetapes that havebeentested and inspectedfor usein two, four,six,andeight
hourVCRs,andwhichare labeledwith the [_ mark.The useof tapesthat have
not beeninspectedfor useintwo, four,six,andeighthourVCRsmay result in poor
picturequalityand excessivedepositson the video heads,which maynot be cov-
ered bythe warranty ifdamageoccurs.

TV system installers attention to Article 82040 of the National Electrical Code,

Putting Batteries in the Remote Control
ITo open the I_ttery compartment, push in the tab, then
pull up the lid.
Close the battery compartment lid.
Using the Remote Control
Do not put objectsbetween the remote control andtheVCR.
Pressthe VCR button,then point the remote control at the VCR's
remote sensor,before pressingotherVCR operationbuttons.
PresstheTV button,then point the remote control at the'rV,
beforepressingotherTV operation buttons.
Pressthe CBIJDBSbutton,then pointthe remote control at the

Erase Protection
Video cassetteshaverecord tabsto ensurethat recordings are not
erasedaccidentally.

To prevent accidental erasure, break offthe tab with a
screwdriver.
To record again, cover the hole with celloPhane tape.
VCR Maintenance
Removeanylightadhesivestick-onnotes from the video cassette
beforeputtingthe cassettein theVCR. Removablelabelscanjam
theVCR.
Periodicmaintenanceisrequired to maintainyourVCR's perfor-
mance.YourVCR hasan automaticheadcleaner,but the video
headswill eventuallyrequire cleaningor replacement. Cleaningor
replacement of the video headsshouldbe performed onlybyan
authorizedservicecenter.

Set the CH3/CH4 switch on the back of theVCR to CH3 or CH4, whichever
channel is not used or least used in your area.To operate yourVCR with your TV, set
the TV to the same channel. For example,when playinga tape, if the CH3/CH4
switch is set to CH3, theTV should be on channel 3.
