GENERAL INFORMATION
This Installation Instruction Addendum has been prepared to assist in the removal of the new Top and Rear Vent Cover knockout on various direct
vent gas appliances.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Refer to Figures 1, 1A, and 3 for top vent usage and Figure 2, 2A and 3 for rear vent usage. The following paragraphs outline the new procedure
for removal.
When the top vent collar is being used: with a rubber mallet, tap around the outside of the knockout, at the four metal tabs attaching the knockout
to the firebox wrapper. This will disconnect the knockout from the firebox wrapper. When the four tabs have been broken, remove and discard the
knockout, then remove and discard the insulation blanket from around the vent opening. The top vent is now ready to be used.
When the rear vent collar is being used: with a rubber mallet, tap around the outside of the knockout, at the four metal tabs attaching the knockout
to the firebox wrapper. This will disconnect the knockout from the firebox wrapper. When the four tabs have been broken, remove and discard the
knockout, then remove the vent cap cover and insulation blanket from around the vent opening. The rear vent is now ready to be used.

What if the wrong vent collar knockout was removed
In the event that the top vent collar was prepared, when the rear vent was
to be used, proceed with the directions on page one for using the rear
vent collar. Then, using the removed vent cap, attach it to the top vent
collar. To do this, bend out the two metal tabs on the sides of the vent
cap; insert the insulation plug into the top vent opening and, using two
self tapping metal screws, screw the vent cap into the top of the firebox,
over the top vent collar (refer to Figure 4 and 4A ). Tighten until the vent
cap is flush with the firebox wrapper.
If the rear vent was prepared when the top vent was to be used, proceed
with the directions above for using the top vent. Then use the vent cap
removed from the rear vent collar and re-attach it to the rear vent cap.
Do this by bending out the two metal tabs on the sides of the vent cap,
ensuring the insulation plug is in place in the vent opening, and using
two self-tapping metal screws, screw the vent cap into the rear of the
firebox, over the rear vent collar (refer to Figure 4 and 4A ). Tighten
until the vent cap is flush with the firebox wrapper.
