Precautions
Operating environment:
Please note the following precautions before using your phone.
Turn off your telephone when in an aircraft. Telephone use in an
aircraft may be dangerous to the operation of the aircraft.
Do not use the equipment at a refueling point. Users are reminded of
the need to observe restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel
depots, chemical plants or when blasting operations are in progress.
Avoid contact between the antenna and face (especially eyes)
during conversation.
Take care when using the telephone in crowded places.
Care must be taken when using the telephone in close proximity to
personal medical electronic devices, such as pacemakers and
hearing aids.
Use the equipment within the temperature range of 0 C to +50 C.
It is normal while exposed to extreme temperatures that the display
on your telephone may at times change slightly in color, take
somewhat longer than usual to display characters, or have a shorter
battery life.

Handling:
General Precautions:
- DO NOT attempt to disassemble UTS702. There are no user-
ser viceable parts inside.
- DO NOT strike, drop, shake or subject the UTS702 to excessive 
vibr ation.
- DO NOT expose the UTS702 to rain and avoid contact with any 
liquids. If t he UTS702 becomes wet, immediately turn the power 
of f, remove the battery and contact your dealer.
- Keep any metallic items from accidentally touching the terminals on
t he bottom of the UTS702.
- DO NOT leave the equipment in direct sunlight, or humid, dusty hot
ar eas.
- The UTS702 is intended for use when charged with power from the 
c harging base and AC adapter. Other usage will invalidate any 
appr oval given to this apparatus and may be dangerous.
- Always use UTStarcom approved accessories in order to maintain 
high per formance and avoid damage.
- It is normal for UTS702, charging apparatus and battery pack to 
f eel warm during charging.
Use in a Vehicle:
- The UTS702 can provide service while in motion slightly faster than 
w alking speed. Accordingly, service can be interupted if used in a 
car , or other rapidly moving transportation. Best use of the UTS702
in a v ehicle is at a stop or crawl.

Battery and charging:
Cleaning:
· DO NOT apply force when fitting the battery to the telephone.
· Always charge the battery pack in a well ventilated area, not in 
sunlight, be tween +5 C to +35 C. It is not possible to recharge the
batt ery pack outside this temperature range.
· DO NOT incinerate or dispose of the battery as ordinary garbage.
K eep the battery packs away from fire. Your retail vendor can 
advise y ou of the legal way to dispose of the battery.
· Attach the battery pack to the telephone before charging with the 
A C adapter. It has a keyed connector and should not be forced.
· Store the battery pack in a dry, cool and dark area when not in use.
· The equipment may be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with a mild 
de tergent and water. DO NOT use petroleum based cleaners such as 
benzene or t hinner as they will permanently damage the equipment.
· Periodically clean the external connector contacts of the phone 
(UT S702) charging apparatus with a dry soft cloth. Dirty contacts may 
cause f aulty operation and charging.
