Introduction
Open the carton carefully to avoid damage to the equipment inside. If there is indication of damage to the equipment
(no matter how slight), show it to a facility supervisor.
Equipment drawings show all utility service, space, and structural requirements. If these drawings cannot be located,
replacement copies may be obtained by writing or telephoning STERIS, giving the serial and model numbers of the
equipment.
This equipment should only be installed by properly trained technicians. If STERIS supervision is desired for installing
and starting up this equipment, contact STERIS.
Once installed, equipment operation should be tested by a qualified service technician prior to first usage of the
equipment.
Indications For Use
The Reliance® Endoscope Drying and Storage Cabinets are designed to efficiently protect and manage your flexible
endoscopes in a clean environment that promotes drying1. Through a combination of unique features on a variety of
models – HEPA filtered air, digital access and tracking, vertical storage, channel purging and premium construction –
Reliance Endoscope Drying and Storage Cabinets meet or exceed all current standards and guidelines including AAMI
ST91:2015, AORN, and SGNA.
There are many different guidelines and industry standards for storage of scopes. It is recommended to conduct a
facility assessment to determine which guidelines and standards are best to follow and include in your departments
policies and procedures.

Safety Precautions
The following Safety Precautions must be observed when operating or servicing the cabinets. WARNING indicates the
potential for personal injury and CAUTION indicates the potential for damage to equipment. For emphasis, certain
Safety Precautions are repeated throughout the manual. It is important to review all Safety Precautions before
operating or servicing the unit.
Strictly following these Safety Precautions enhances your ability to safely and effectively use the unit and helps to
avoid improper maintenance methods which may damage the unit or render it unsafe. It is important to understand
that these Safety Precautions are not exhaustive; customers are encouraged to develop their own safety policies and
procedures to enhance and complement these Safety Precautions.

PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD
Repairs and adjustments to this equipment should be made only by fully qualified service personnel.
Maintenance performed by inexperienced, unqualified personnel or installation of unauthorized parts
could cause personal injury, invalidate the warranty or result in costly damage. Contact STERIS Service
regarding service options.
WARNING
LACERATION/EYE INJURY HAZARD
When removing straps, wear eye protection and always use a tool specifically designed to cut the straps.
The straps used to secure the endoscope cabinet doors can cause personal injury when cut and tension is
released.

ELECTRIC SHOCK AND/OR BURN HAZARD
Before servicing, disconnect all utilities to the cabinet by unplugging unit. Do not service this equipment
unless all utilities have been properly disconnected. Always follow OSHA Lockout-Tagout and electrical
safety-related work practice standards.

Route the power cord to the receptacle in a position so that it will not be tripped over by personnel in the
area.

WARNING
PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD
Read and understand the operating instructions in this manual before attempting to use the equipment.
Follow each step in the order presented in these instructions. If you need technical assistance or
additional instructions, call STERIS.
Do not modify this equipment without authorization of the manufacturer.
If this equipment is modified, appropriate inspection and testing must be conducted to ensure continued
safe use of equipment.
Avoid tipping hazard. Verify cabinet(s) are level.
When connecting or disconnecting the channel purge tubing sets from flexible endoscopes, care must be
taken to not only protect the endoscope, but also the tubing sets from being damaged. When
disconnecting, please make sure you follow these steps to ensure your tubing sets will last and do the job
they are intended to do.
CAUTION
POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Use only recommended cleaners to clean the cabinet.
Never use a wire brush, abrasives or steel wool on the cabinet(s). Do not use cleaners containing chloride
on stainless-steel surfaces. Chloride-based cleaners will deteriorate stainless steel.
When moving endoscope cabinet and component cabinet together, verify wires and tubing are not caught
between cabinets.

NOTE: If a grey button is pressed, there is no action.

3.3 Checking In an Endoscope
Cabinet doors remain locked until Employee ID is entered by scanning employee ID barcode or manual entry.
1. On Main screen, enter employee ID by using one of the following:

The database verifies if the endoscope is in the cabinet.
Once an endoscope has been scanned or manually entered into touchscreen, the following message
appears: “Confirm you would like to CHECK IN a scope.”

NOTE: Green, yellow and red touchscreen buttons indicate that a hanger is in use and that a endoscope may not
be checked into that location until the current endoscope is checked out.

4. Open endoscope cabinet door.
5. Hang device on selected hanger and connect applicable connector (if endoscope requires connectors) to
endoscope and endoscope cabinet.
6. Close endoscope cabinet door.
Confirmation screen acknowledges that the device was successfully checked in. The following message appears:
“Thank you! We confirm your scope was checked into hanger (number).”
The screen also displays a message asking if the operator wants to check in another scope: “Another Scope?”
