The J. W. Davis DT-100D Tuner has been specifically engineered with features for commercial and
industrial applications. The monaural output combines incoming stereo signals ensuring full frequency
response distribution throughout each speaker’s coverage area. The memory keys allow the desired AM/
FM stations to be preset to discourage tampering. A separate music-on-hold amplifier permits the volume
level of the music that is provided to incoming calls to be set separately from the line level out to the power
amplifier. A 12 VDC power connection is available for emergency power or for use in remote locations. A
memory chip retains station memory for 14 days if all power is lost. Large digital display permits easy
station identification. All necessary accessories for tuner use are included. 5 year warranty.

SIGNAL
For FM reception, connect the 75Ω antenna then to the FM antenna threaded connection at the rear of the
unit. Connect the supplied AM loop antenna to the push-to-lock terminals.
1. Select AM1-AM2 or FM1-FM2-FM3-FM4 with the BAND (4) key.
2. Press the SEEK+ or SEEK- (8) buttons to select a frequency manually, or the SCAN (7) button to
automatically search for stations. Using SCAN, DT-100D will pause for 5-seconds on each station it
receives, press SCAN again to stop at selected frequency.
3. FM ST button works only when Output is in Stereo mode. Pressing the button to off, LED off, allows
DT-100D to tune in weaker FM stations. NOTE: If FM ST LED is off the output of tuner is mono.
4. AUTO SCAN button, if pressed, DT-100D will scan and save in the Memory Pre-Sets all tunable
frequencies until all 40 FM then 20 AM stations are locked in. Scan starts from lowest frequency to
highest frequency for each band.
5. To program a selected station, simply press and hold the desired Pre-Set number for 3 seconds
until VFD flashes three times to confirm. Follow this procedure for all 40 FM and 20 AM Pre-sets.
6. The tuning knob allows user to tune to desired station if the SEEK(+,-)or AUTO SCAN does not find
a desired station.
The DT-100D may be operated from a 12VDC power source. Screw terminals
are provided for this purpose. When connecting the DC source, ensure that the
polarity is correct and that the DC supply is protected with a 1A fuse. (Note :
The power On-Off switch is bypassed when operating the DT-100D from a
12VDC source. For power backup, connect a 12VDC source to the 12VDC
Power Connection. The DT-100D will continue operational status if AC power
is lost.)
The mono signal output of the DT-100D tuner is accessed from either of the two RCA jacks located on the
rear panel. The enclosed RCA patch cord should be connected between either of the RCA output jacks
then to an Aux/Line input on the amplifier. Two RCA output jacks are available to feed same tuner signal to
two systems. If Stereo output operation is desired, simply select Stereo mode via switch. The output level
may be adjusted by the volume control located near the line output jacks. If your installation only has
microphone level inputs available, call J.W. Davis Customer Service for different types of attenuaters to
modify mic level inputs.
MUSIC-ON-HOLD
A separate 1-watt@8Ω/1-volt@600Ω amplifier allows the music-on-hold feature to be controlled indepen-
dently of the primary RCA output. To facilitate station tuning and setting the desired volume level for mu-
sic-on-hold, it is suggested that a speaker be connected to the special 8 ohm output. This is also useful
for monitoring purposes. Care should be taken to avoid signal distortion due to overdriving the
telephone’s music-on-hold input.
TUNER OPERATION
Due to the steel construction of the tuner, tuned antennas are not fitted within the cabinet. An AM loop
antenna and FM 75Ω antenna is enclosed to provide the desired reception. Your DT-100D tuner has
been tested to perform well in poor reception areas. However, should you experience difficulties, the
tuners antenna may be compromised by a metal building or a similar obstruction. In such cases, we
suggest connecting an external mounted FM antenna using RG-59 coax (purchased seperately) to assist
the DT-100D’s signal reception ability.
