To locate both numbers open the orange cover revealing the pump compartment. The serial number is located in the pump compartment of the unit in front
of the pump. The pump model number can be found on the pump label. Record these numbers in your manual for easy accessibility.

UNPACKING AND ASSEMBLY
The Ossian LS® is shipped with the operator handle attached to base
unit by the control cable and power harness, but not bolted to base unit.
2) Slide handle ends into handle brackets on base.
Slip holes in handle ends over stud in handle bracket.
3) Secure handle to bracket with washers (D1) and nuts (D2).
1) CAREFULLY lift handle up from box sleeve.
DO NOT stress or kink connecting cables.

HOSE STORAGE BRACKET AND WAND HOLSTER ASSEMBLY
1) Assemble hose storage brackets to left and right sides of
operator handle. Insert hose brackets (A1) through holes
on outside of operator handle. Secure with (A2) washers
and (A3) acorn nuts.
2) Mount wand holster to handle on operator’s right.
Insert bolt/washer (F5) through slot in handle bracket
and secure with washer (F3) and acorn nut (F4).
Insert bolt (F2) through holster mounting bracket and
operator handle and secure with washer (F3) and nut (F4).

SPRAY WAND AND HOSE ASSEMBLY
1) To remove stem plug, push restraining collar squarely
against bulkhead tting. Hold collar against tting when
pulling on plug to remove.
2) Insert hose stem into bulkhead tting. Pull gently to assure
that hose stem is rmly seated.
3) Secure wand hose to operator handle with tie wrap (E).
4) Screw threaded end of wand lance (B3) to wand trigger (B2).
5) Carefully screw nozzle assembly (B4) to wand lance.
DO NOT over tighten nozzle assembly to wand lance.
6) Carefully screw the threaded end of the wand hose to the
wand trigger.

1) Lift orange cover from rear catch and pivot forward
providing access to battery cover and battery compartment.
2) With a Phillips screwdriver unscrew battery cover and rotate
out of position to expose battery compartment.
3) Inside battery compartment nd battery leads and extend
above opening to compartment.
4) Connect battery leads from battery compartment to
corresponding terminals on battery.
Connect Black Lead to Black Terminal.
Connect Red Lead to Red Terminal.
5) Install battery into compartment using care not to pinch
wiring harness and screw battery cover shut.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
Battery is shipped uninstalled from unit.
Battery can be found boxed, inside tank cavity of the OSSIAN LS®.

BATTERY CHARGING
Fully Charge Battery Prior to First Use.
1) Locate charging port on operator’s left side of rear battery
compartment tower. Remove liquid tank and raise orange
cover to aid in accessing port.
2) Plug round end of battery charger into charging port on
battery tower.
3) Plug battery charger transformer into standard 110w outlet.
4) LED will turn red when battery is below a full charge.
5) LED on transformer will turn green when battery is fully charged.
6) When battery is fully charged, disconnect battery charger from
charge port and close cover. Push rear of cover down so that it
ts snuggly over battery cover.
Only use provided battery charger.

PROPER BATTERY CARE
Although the Ossian LS® is designed for winter operation, proper battery care is required to ensure the unit
will continue to operate at peak performance. Failure to do so will dramatically shorten the life of your battery.
Recharge battery at end
of each use for optimum
performance.
Reinstall terminal covers on battery
if disconnected for any reason.
DO NOT FREEZE BATTERY
NEVER attempt to fully drain battery.
DO NOT store in unheated area with less
than 50% charge on battery. Battery damage
can occur.
Battery must be properly installed in unit
to charge.
DO NOT turn on unit or attempt to operate
unit while charging.
Keep battery cable clear of being pinched
under battery when installing.
Check battery cover is rmly secured with
both screws. Battery cover will be used to lift
unit.

ANTI-ICER TANK PREPARATION
The Ossian LS® Liquid Sprayer uses a standard Ossian 5 gallon tank as its liquid tank.
An empty tank was provided with the unit. To begin operation, a full tank is required.
1) Attach supplied siphon cap to full tank of Ossian approved
liquid anti-icer. Hand tighten.
2) Install full anti-icer tank into tank cavity of sprayer with
cover of unit closed.
Use proper lifting technique when lifting full liquid tank.
A full tank can weigh up to 60lbs.
3) Plug female connection on siphon hose into male inlet port in
back of tank compartment. Apply gentle back and forth twisting
motion.
4) When removing tank, unplug female connection on siphon hose
from base unit prior to lifting tank.
DO NOT attempt to open cover to remove tank.
Use of unapproved chemicals
will void equipment warranty.

If plumbing is not primed, pump will run for 10-15
seconds to prime internal plumbing and wand
hose with de-icer before shutting off automatically.
Check for small leaks, if pump does not shut off automatically
after priming or pulses periodically when not in use.
2) Fully extend boom arms by pushing boom lever on
control pod to the full forward position.
If boom arms do not extend properly, check the
Troubleshooting area of this manual.
DO NOT leave unit unattended with knob in the position.

SPRAY BOOM APPLICATION
1) Tilt unit backwards on wheels to a comfortable operator angle
and raise front of unit off ground, approximately 3 – 4 inches.
2) With unit energized (control knob in position), squeeze
orange trigger to spray de-icer from boom nozzles.
3) Push unit forward balancing on rear wheels only.
DO NOT push unit with front skids dragging on pavement.
This will result in uneven coverage of product and
unnecessary operator effort.

1) Anti-ice sidewalk by pushing unit at a comfortable walking
pace while holding down spray trigger.
2) Watch pavement to insure even coverage.
Surface should be wet, not puddled.
The 4 foot wide spray pattern of
the Ossian LS® is optimized for
the width of a standard municipal
sidewalk.
The spray boom application rate
is pre-calibrated for 1 gal/1000 sqft.
No adjustment is necessary.

Wand application rate is different than spray boom.
Watch pavement surface to insure an even coating.
Surface should be wet not puddled.
DO NOT apply anti-icing chemicals below 15˚ F.
Use dry ice melting chemicals at lower temperatures.
1) Close boom arms if they are open and park Ossian LS on level
surface at bottom of stairs to insure unit will not roll during use.
2) Remove wand from holster and extend wand and enough hose
to reach top stair.
3) Starting at the top of the stairs, apply an even coating of
product working downward to the bottom stair.
Surface should be wet not puddled.

Risk of slippery surface.
Slush must be removed from to prevent
refreezing that may result in a slip and fall.
DO NOT puddle de-icer product on sidewalk or
stairs. Puddled product will cause a tracking
issue and slip hazard.
Close/retract boom arms when not in use to
protect from damage.
DO NOT pull unit by wand hose. Damage to
unit could result.
DO NOT leave unit unattended with knob in
position.
Check for small leaks if pump does not shut
off automatically after priming or pulses
periodically when not in use.

De-icing is the operation of removing residual ice and snow after an area
has been cleared with mechanical means.
1) After snow has been mechanically removed by blade, snow
blower or other equipment, the Ossian LS® can be used to
apply liquid de-icer to the residual ice and snow left behind with
standard application rates.
2) Slush created by the combination of de-icer and snow must be
removed to prevent refreezing where it can cause a dangerous,
uneven and slick surface.
Risk of slip and fall accident.
Remove slush from de-iced surfaces to prevent refreezing.
DO NOT use liquid anti-icers to melt ice and snow prior to
physical snow removal or as a substitute for snow removal.
