Introduction:
Double CD player is intended for handling the musical recordings in form of CD-AUDIO
and MP3 (MP1&2 Layer3). This device was proposed for needs of theaters and concert
circuits, where settings characteristics and safety are the main requirements. Computer
DVD mechanics with antishock system, which can play back any CD, are used as CD
players. The control was proposed according to requirements of sound engineers and was
tested in long term full operating conditions. Considerable advantage is display
CD-TEXT in two rows album interpreter, album name song interpreter, song name.
All necessary data are well displayed on two big enlightened display panels.
The CD player is divided into two device boxes for easy operation and installation, 2U
CD unit and 2U control unit. Unit connection is implemented by cable (CAN9pin). Audio
signal outputs are separated for each CD player and are brought out on the back panel of
CD unit in formats Analog asymmetric, Analog servo symmetric and Digital S/Pdif. For
easy connection with mixing desks, which enable operation through MIDI, the CD player
is equipped with interface MIDI/IN and MIDI/THRU. There is connector Remote on
back panel for needs of simple remote control.

Maintenance Tips:
Particular parts of device are sensitive to environment effects, especially to temperature,
moisture and dustiness. To clean device use soft and dry cloth do not use alcohol,
thinner or benzine. Read instructions carefully before use chemical impregnated cloth.
In the interest of ensuring long term audible experience, adhere to following instructions.
The laser optics of DVD device can be soiled with dust and dirt that can disable
disk play back. According to device using frequency and surrounding, use
cleaning set for scanning optics of DVD approximately once a year. Read
instructions carefully before use.
Do not put down device on amplifiers or other systems, which can heat. High
temperature can harm device.
Before device move make sure that there is no disk inside. Otherwise, you risk
that device and disk can be damaged
Do not cover the built-in ventilator holes on the back panel.
Back-up power supply for setting retention is involved. In case of the loss of

changing the playing mode.
Programming:
Programming is instrumental to store the sequence of playing tracks of particular CD. CD
player enables saving as much as 100 CDs into memory. The algorithm used for CD
identification eliminates allocation of the program to wrong CD (in case of two identical
CDs, algorithm recognizes them as one CD disc and assigns them the same program).
Program memory of CD-A and CD-B is merged, it means that your CD program made in
drive CD-A is possible to play in CD-B with right program. It is possible to pre-set as
much as 99 program steps for one CD (according to CD Audio standards, where max. 99
tracks are permitted).

10. MIDI turn on/off (Yes/No), possible to turn off by key (7) while Play/Pause
11. -24. setting the control through MIDI. Described in sole chapter.
MIDI function:
To PLAY/PAUSE operating from mixing consoles supporting protocol MIDI is implemented the
operating function via MUTE key or FADER in CD player.
Connection
Connect the mixing console with CD player MIDI through cable and set the output MIDI channel
on mixing console in accordance with operating instructions (mostly channel 16). Set the same
number of channel in setup menu of CD player in item MIDI Channel. If you do not know MIDI
channel, choose function LEARN MODE, confirm by pressing the wheel and press any MUTE
key on mixing console.
Mixing Console MIDI Control:
Set mixing console which you use.
a. Allan&Heath GL/ML series uses standard MIDI protocol to PLAY/PAUSE operating
by function MUTE from mixing console. This protocol complies with most of analog
consoles, which have MUTE operating through MIDI interface. Function PLAY/PAUSE
(via MUTE) is implemented to the address of NOTE ON, which is the function MUTE on
particular inputs by most mixing consoles.
Notice transmission NOTE ON:
notice NOTE ON 9n cc vv
n = console MIDI channel number
cc = console channel number
vv = 3FH PLAY, 7FH PAUSE
2. YAMAHA Digital cons. TABLE uses standard instructions MIDI TABLE. To
START/PAUSE operating via function MUTE and FADER are used instructions
described in manual to digital console YAMAHA. This protocol obliges to most of digital
consoles even to other producers. TABLE protocol limitation is to 32 MUTE commands
and 32 FADER commands.
3. Yamaha Digital Cons. NPRN is special MIDI protocol developed to operating digital
mixing consoles and Yamaha peripherals. This protocol enables full addressing of all
functions of mixing console with no limits
CDP2100
www.winkleraudio.cz side 13 from 20
4. 0 127 this item enables to set switching threshold between PLAY/PAUSE at standard
MIDI protocol. For decision making is commonly used < 64 set off, and > 64 set on. If
you have this decision level set another way at your console, change this value by turning
the wheel (6) and confirm by pressing (enter).
MUTE functions Control:
If you want to control CD player by MUTE function, set up CD-A-MIDI MUTE Control No. to
LEARN MODE (function Learn Mode choose by pressing key 7) and press the wheel (6), notice
LISTENING appears, then press button MUTE on mixing console. If you have MIDI channel
selected properly, the address of MUTE function (1-127 TABLE/0-3FFFNRPN) should appear at
display, confirm this figure by pressing the wheel (6). To set up the other CD repeat the procedure
at CD-B-MIDI Control No.
Control by FADER
To set up the start through FADER, set CD-A-MIDI FADER Control No. to LEARN MODE
(Learn Mode function choose by pressing key 7) and press the wheel (6), notice LISTENING
appears, then shift FADER on mixing console from one extreme position to other, number of
FADER appears at display, confirm it by pressing the wheel (6). Then set values CD-A-MIDI
FADER Control Up and CD-A-MIDI FADER Control Dn according to your request for
position in which the CD should start up or stop (<1 PAUSE, >3 PLAY). The function Learn
mode is implemented In CD-A(B)-MIDI FADER Control Up (Dn) (only Yamaha NRPN), set
FADER to required position and press (7) and Enter, slightly move Fader the number of
position will be recorded, and confirm by Enter (6). To set up the other CD repeat the procedure
at CD-B-MIDI Control No….provided that Up is grater than Dn. If this function is selected, the
notice “please move FADER to Min/Max” appears after turning on the player, which waits until
meeting this requirement. In CD A(B)-MIDI FADER Up Delay you set CD start delay while
choosing Fader Up. Time-delay can be set in range 0 2520ms (2,5s) after 40ms.
MUTE functions Control and by FADER
There are some limitations to control CD player by MUTE and FADER together. To exclude
contradictory command chaining the special logic based on command sequence is set up. The CD
player performs only the commands from mixing consoles therefore take care while first setting
MUTE and FADER after starting power supply. Mixing consoles get these commands only
while change of condition, therefore if you turn on CD player after setting Mute function on
mixing console, CD player does not take it into account. CD player logic works in the way that if
the MUTE is set on and you push FADER from minimal position, the playback does not turn on
and vice versa. Startup of playback comes in these cases: FADER out of minimum position you
turn off MUTE, MUTE off and push FADER from minimal position. To stop playback the
process is analogical. If you have chosen this function, the notices “Please press key MUTE
control” , “Please move FADER to Min/Max” appear after turning on the player and waits until
meeting this requirement, otherwise starts could not work.
MUTE functions + FADER STOP
There is everything same as with function MUTE; in addition the player stops while shifting
FADER to minimal position. Start via FADER is not supported. There is no logic applied at this
function.
