Safety and Assembly Instructions
#732958 | Ages 5+
Adult installation and supervision required.
Takes 2 adults to install.
Approx. 8'L x 3' diam.
Weight capacity: 400 lbs.
Parts Included:
1 Rope Tunnel
2 Straps with reinforced attachment loops
2 Ratchets with straps with reinforced attachment loops
(ratchet straps)
2
General Notes on Using Ratchets:
1. To use a ratchet, two operating elements are
important: the crank and the lever.
2. In the base position (crank folded in half and
locked in place), the winding axle (where the
second strap will be threaded) is locked.
3. Pull the lever to unlock the crank so that you
can adjust the angle of its opening.
4. When the crank is unlocked and partially
opened, the strap can be inserted into the
winding axle and tightened by moving the crank
back and forth (without using the lever). The
typical “ratcheting” sound of the crank can be
heard. To avoid injuries, please watch where you
place your fingers when operating the crank.
5. To pull the strap out of the ratchet, open the
ratchet crank completely to release the axle
(the lever must be pulled with some force to
reach that position). This position can be hard
to attain so it is good to familiarize yourself with
usage carefully.

Hanging the Rope Tunnel:
1. Hang the device from a tree trunk at least 6 feet (1.8m) away
from any structure or obstruction, such as a fence, garage, house,
overhanging branches, clothesline, or wire.
2. Do not install home playground equipment over concrete, asphalt,
packed earth, grass carpet or any other hard surface. A fall onto a
hard surface can result in serious injury or death to the
equipment user.
3. Choose the appropriate trees from which you’ll hang the tunnel.
a. Maximum distance apart: 30 ft
b. Minimum distance apart: 16 ft
c. Optimal distance apart: 18-20 ft
3
4. Wrap one of the ratchet straps
around the trunk of a tree by
pulling the ratchet through the
loop at the end of the strap.
5. Put the unattached strap
through the O-ring at the end
of the Rope Tunnel.
6. Feed the end of the
unattached strap through the
loop at the end of its strap and
pull until tightened around the
O-ring.
7. Open the crank on the ratchet
to approximately 45°.
4
10. Repeat these steps with the ratchet on the other side of the
Rope Tunnel.
11. Make sure that the cranks on both ratchets are put back into the
locked position and that the winding axles are also locked before
using the Rope Tunnel.
** To take down the tunnel, release the straps by completely opening
the cranks to 180° and pulling the straps out. You may have to pull
with some force.
Maximum Height From the Ground:
Height of the tunnel from the ground will depend on the size of users,
and should be at a height that is easily accessible. Maximum fall
height should not exceed 18".
8. Thread the end of the
unattached strap through
the slit in the winding axle
and pull until there is no slack
in the strap. (The amount of
strap pulled through the axle
depends on the distance
between the ratchet and
O-ring, which will vary based
on the spacing between trees.)
9. Keep the threaded strap taut
as you use the crank to keep
winding it around the axle.

Safety Guidelines
Owners shall be responsible for maintaining the legibility of any
warning labels. Following the safety guidance and warnings below will
reduce the likelihood of serious or fatal injury.
c WARNING: A fall onto a hard surface can result in serious injury to
the equipment user.
c WARNING: Do not use the equipment until properly installed.
c WARNING: This rope tunnel is not to be used in any other manner
other than its intended use.
c WARNING: Adult supervision is required.
We recommend no more than 2 kids on the tunnel at one time, with no
more than 400 lbs. of combined weight on the item at the same time.
Never add extra length to strap or rope. The straps or ropes provided
are the maximum length designed for the rope tunnel element(s).
c WARNING: It is important for adults to instruct children to:
Dress appropriately while using the rope tunnel (avoid ponchos,
scarves, and other loose-fitting clothing that is potentially
hazardous).
Warning! Please be sure children wear well-fitting footwear that
fully encloses the foot when using this rope tunnel. Clogs, flip-flops,
and sandals are considered inappropriate footwear.
c WARNING: It is important for adults to instruct children NOT to:
Walk close to, in front of, behind, or between moving items.
Spin or twist ropes since such action may reduce the strength of
the rope.
Get o of the rope tunnel while it is in motion.
Climb on the rope tunnel when it is wet.
Attach additional items to the rope tunnel that might cause a
strangulation hazard.
Wear a bicycle or sport helmet while on the rope tunnel.
Maintaining the Rope Tunnel
At the beginning of each play season, adults should:
Tighten all hardware.
Check all components. Discontinue use if they are loose, cracked,
or missing.
Check all moving parts including ropes for wear, rust, or other
deterioration. If damage is found, discontinue use.
Check metal parts for rust. If found, sand and repaint using a non-
lead-based paint meeting the requirements of 16 CFR 1303.
Lubricate all metallic moving parts per manufacturers instructions.
Lubricate all metallic moving parts that are attached by a metal
connection.
6
Reinstall any parts that were removed for the cold season.
If the rope tunnel is hung between tree trunks, then rake and check
depth of loose-fill protective surfacing materials (such as mulch or
sand) to prevent compaction and to maintain appropriate depth
(minimum amount is 9"). Replace as needed.
Loose-Fill Materials should be placed under the item and
6' out in all directions.
Maintain a minimum depth of 9 inches of loose-fill materials such
as wood mulch/chips, engineered wood fiber (EWF), or shredded/
recycled rubber mulch for equipment up to 8 feet high; and 9
inches of sand or pea gravel for equipment up to 5 feet high. NOTE:
An initial fill level of 12 inches will compress to about a 9-inch depth
of surfacing over time. The surfacing will also compact, displace,
and settle, and should be periodically refilled to maintain at least a
9-inch depth. Use a minimum of 6 inches of protective surfacing for
play equipment less than 4 feet in height. If maintained properly,
this should be adequate. (At depths less than 6 inches, the
protective material is too easily displaced or compacted.)
Use containment, such as digging out around the perimeter and/
or lining the perimeter with landscape edging. Don’t forget to
account for water drainage.
Check and maintain the depth of the loose-fill surfacing material.
To maintain the right amount of loose-fill materials, mark the
correct level on play equipment support posts. That way you can
easily see when to replenish and/or redistribute the surfacing.
Do not install loose fill surfacing over hard surfaces such as
concrete or asphalt.
Twice a month during play season, adults should:
Tighten all hardware.
Check all protective coverings on pipes, edges, and corners.
Replace if they are loose, cracked, or missing.
If the rope tunnel is hung between tree trunks, then rake and check
depth of loose-fill protective surfacing materials (such as mulch or
sand) to prevent compaction and to maintain appropriate depth
(minimum amount is 9”). Replace as needed.
Once a month during play season, adults should:
Check all moving parts including ropes for wear or other
deterioration. If damage is found, discontinue use.
Lubricate all metallic moving parts per manufacturers instructions.
If the rope tunnel is hung between tree trunks, then rake and check
depth of loose-fill protective surfacing materials (such as mulch or
sand) to prevent compaction and to maintain appropriate depth
(minimum amount is 9”). Replace as needed.
