cast signal contains Caption Signals.
2) Paint-on mode: Displays input characters on the screen immediately.
Pop-on mode: Once characters are stored in memory, they are displayed all at once.
Roll-up mode: Displays the characters continuously by scrolling (max. 4 lines)
Note: If CAPTION C1 or C2 is selected but a Closed Caption signal is not inckMed, characters
will not be displayed.
Notes:
1) When your TV receives a special effects playback signal (i.e., Search, Slow, Still) from a
VCR's video output channel (CH3 or CH4), your TV may not display the correct caption or
text.
2) Captions and texts may not match the TV voice exactly.
3) Interference may cause the closed caption system not to function properly.
4) The caption or text characters will not be displayed while the menu display or functions dis-
play is shown.

12. Power-Cord Protection-Power-supply cords shouM be
routed so lhat lhey am not likely to be walked on oi
pinched by items placed upon oi against them. paying

receptacles, and the point where they exit fi'om the

video game.
2. AUDIO L/R IN jacks- Connect to the
let1/Fight channel audio output,jacks ol a
video camera, VCR, OFvideo game.
Note: The AUDIO L (IN) ,jack is foF mouo
iuput. The sound is heaFd tYomboth speak-
ers. Use this ,jack for monaural audio equip-
ment to be hooked up.
3. HEADPHONE jack- To connect headphone
(not supplied) for personal listening.
4. MENU button- Press to display the menu
on the TV screen.

control the volume level.

8. Infrared Sensor Window- Receives the
infrared contFo1 signals from the remote

9. MUTE button- Press the MUTE button to
turn off the souud poFtion of the TV pro-
gram. (Volume level display turns LIGHT
RED E'om LIGHT BLUE.) Press the
MUTE button again or press the VOL(ume)
or button to restore SoEmd.
10.INPUT SELECT button- Press to select
TV or the external input (VIDEOI OF
VIDEO2) mode.

11.CHANNEL RETURN button- Press this
button to go back to the previously viewed
channel. FOF example, pressing the CHAN-
NEL RETURN button once will change
chanuel display fl'om CH 3 (present chan-
nel) to CH 10 (previously viewed channel),
and pressing it a second time will return
Irom CH 10 to CH 3.
12.DISPLAY bntton- Press to display the
chanuel numbeF on the screen. If you press
it again, the chanuel numbeF will disappear.
13.SLEEP button- Press the SLEEP button to
display the time and to staFt the timer. The
shut off time can be determined by the
numbeF of times you press the button. (0,
10, 20, 30,..90, 0 minutes)
14.GAME button- Press to set the Game
mode. To exit, press the INPUT SELECT
button.

15.CHANNEL NUMBER buttons- Press two
digits to directly access the desired chaunel.
RemembeF to press a "0" before a single

VIDEO cable (not supplied).

na, cable system, or satellite system.

l) Slide the batteFy compartment cover back
on the remote unit.
2) Insert 2 "AA" penlight batteFies into battely
compartment in the direction as indicated
by the polarity (+ / -) markings. BatteFies
installed with incorrect polarity may dam-
age the remote uuit.
3) Replace the covet;.
When you use the AUDIO/VIDEO input
,jacks, select "VIDEO I" or "VIDEO2" mode
by pressing the INPUT SELECT button on the
remote control.
To use the jacks on the back ol the TM select
"VIDEO l'.
To use the jacks on the front of the TV.
select "VIDEO2".
Note:
You may also set the Game mode and lront
A/V input at the same time by pressing the
GAME button on the remote contFo1.
"GAME" appears on the TV screeu and the
TV input switches to the front A/V input.

If you want to ctlauge tbe language of tile on-screen menu, follow the proce-
dure below.
1) Connect the power cord to a standard AC outlet.
Note: If some digits appear ill tile corner of the screen,
press the POWER button without unplugging the power cord.
2) Press tile POWER button to turn on the TV.
3) Press tile MENU button so that the menu display appears
on the TV screen.
4) Press the CH(annel) or button to point to "[ENGLISH]".
5) Select "ENGLISH" or "ESPANOL"=Spanisb by using
tile VOL(ume) or button.
6) Press tile MENU button to exit tile menu.

To preset a channel or to change a preset channel, follow the procedure below.
l) Press the POWER button to turn on the TV.
2) Press the MENU button so that the menu display appears PICTURE

ADD/DELETE
The tuner scans and memorizes all active channels in your area. AUTOPRESETCH
The TV distinguishes between standard TV channels and cable (CATV)
channels.
When AUTO PRESET CH action is completed, file lowest memorized
channel reappears on the screen.
When you press the CH(aunel) or button after selecting "AUTO PRESET CH",
the tuner will stop at tile memorized channels only.
The TV may recognize TV channels to be CATV channels by receiving conditions. Ill this case,
try AUTO PRESET CH action again after checking antenna connections.
When AUTO PRESET CH is activated where there is no TV signal input, "NO TV SIGNALS"
will appear on the display after the completiou of the channel scauning.

If tile power fails or is disconnected while the TV is powered on, the TV will turn on automatical-

1) Press the POWER button to turn ou the TV.
2) Select tile desired channel with the CH(annel) or button.
3) Adjust the volume to file desired listening level using the VOL(ume) or button.
4) Adjust picture controls for a natural looking image. (See "PICTURE ADJUSTMENT".)

Tile sleep timer fuuctiou allows you to have the power automatically turn off
after a set time period.
1) Press the POWER button to turn on the TV and press the SLEEP button
OU the renlote coutrol.
2) You may change tile sleep time by pressiug the SLEEP button on the
remote control repeatedly. The timer can be set up to 90 miuutes, 10 rain- SLEEP10

Notes:
"+" is achieved by pressing the VOL(ume)
button and "-" by pressing the
VOL(ume)• buttou.
In the above steps, the picture adjustnlent
display will disappear h'onl the TV screen
automatically aRer about 10 seconds if you
do not press ally buttons. Press the MENU
and VOL(ume) button so that "PIC-
TURE" is selected. Then, press the
CH(annel) or button repeatedly until
tile display retm'ns to tile screen.
If you adjust ally picture control after you
set the Game mode to [ON], tile Game ]node
is set to [OFF] automatically.
[USING THE GAME BUTTON]
You may also set the Game mode and select
tile flout A/V input at the same time by press-
ing the GAME button on the remote control.
"GAME" appears on the TV screen.
To exit the Game ]node and t1"ont A/V input,
press tile INPUT SELECT button on tile
rePnote COl]trol.
To cancel tbe Game ]node onl E acljust tile
picture control. The GAME mode will be set
to [OFF] automatically as explained in the
previous section. Ill this case, "VIDEO"
(external input mode) iustead of "GAME"
appears ou the TV screen.
If you press the GAME buttou wlleu the TV
is off, the TV turns on and will be in tile
Game mode and will select front A/V input
mode automatically.

V-CHIP enables parents to prevent their cllildreu fronl watching inappropriate material ou TV.
V-CHIP reads the ratings flor programming (except for news and sports progralns, unedited
movies ou premium cable channels, and Emergency Broadcast System siguals), then denies access
to programming if the program's ratiug meets or exceeds file limitations you select. Ill this case,
"PROTECTED PROGRAM by ..." message appears ou tile TV screeu.
To block certain ratings, follow the steps ill the next page.
Programming ]nay be rated by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) or accord-
ing to the Television Parental Guidelines. In order to block any inappropriate programming, set
your limits ill botb places (MPAA RATING aud TV RATING).
You cannot access the menu wheu the "PROTECTED PROGRAM by ..." message appears. Ill
this case, chauge to all unblocked channel, theu press the MENU buttou.

Closed Caption Problem Possible Remedy
My TV is showing captions that arc You are watching a live broadcast and spelling errors made by the
misspelled, closed captioning production company may pass through uncorrcct
ed. A prerecorded program will not show any misspelled words
because of the normal time available for editing the captions.

Wipe the front panel and other exterior sur-

in lukewarm water and wrung dry.
