Dear MAGNAT Customer,
Congratulations on your fine new loudspeakers and thank you very much for choosing MAGNAT! You
have made an excellent choice. The high-quality speakers produced by MAGNAT are renowned all over
the world.
Please study the instructions and information below carefully before using your new loudspeakers.
IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONSPlease read through the instruction manual carefully before
starting to use the device. This manual contains important information concerning operation
and safety aspects. It is imperative you observe all of the information. Keep the manual in a safe
location.
• WARNING NOTICES: All of the warning symbols on the speakers, accessories and in the instruction
manual itself must be adhered to.
• EXPOSURE TO HEAT: Only operate the speakers and accessories in a temperature range from
10°C to 40°C.
• The speakers should not be positioned near heat sources (heaters, ovens, radiant heaters, naked
flames, etc.). When setting up close to an amplifier a minimum distance of 10 cm must be maintained.
The distance between the active subwoofer enclosure and the walls of the room or other objects
(e. g. furniture, shelf units) may not be less than 5 cm on any side.
• The aluminium plate and cooling fins of the amplifier at the rear of the active subwoofer serve to cool
the built-in amplifier; for this reason, they must also be at least 5 cm away from all objects and must
not be covered (e.g. by a curtain).
• EFFECT OF MOISTURE: The speakers should not be exposed to dripping or splash water. Neither
should they be used to support vases or other containers filled with liquid. Do not expose the speakers
to water or high levels of humidity. There is a danger of electric shock. In the event of contact with
moisture or liquids remove the mains adapter immediately.
• FOREIGN MATERIAL: Ensure that no foreign material enters through the speaker openings and into
the interior. This could trigger short circuits and even result in electric shock and fire.
• CLEANING: Please use a soft, dry cloth with no cleaning agents, sprays or chemical solvents, as
these could damage the surfaces.
• ELECTRICAL CONNECTION: Please note the voltage levels on the information sign. The mains
adapter for the speakers should only be operated with the voltage and frequency values specified
on the sign.
• LIGHTNING PROTECTION/PREVENTIVE MEASURES: If the device is not going to be used for a
prolonged period (e.g. when on holiday), it should be disconnected from the mains by removing the
plug. The device should also be disconnected from the mains in the event of a thunderstorm. Doing
this will prevent damage caused by lightning and overvoltage.
• MAINS CABLE: The mains cable must always be suitable for operation and it should only ever be laid
out in a manner that prevents it from being trodden on. It should not be pinched by objects either, as
this can damage the cable. When using plugs and power strips it must be ensured that the cable is
not kinked at the point where it emerges from the socket. Do not connect or remove the mains cable
with damp hands.
• OVERLOAD: Sockets, power strips and extension cables should not be overloaded. If an overload
occurs, there is a risk of electric shock and fire.
• SETTING UP: Please read the installation instructions. If you want to mount the speakers on the wall,
follow the description in the installation instructions.
• The speakers should only be positioned or mounted on a solid surface and not on moving base
frames, otherwise there is a risk of injury.
• Repairs must always be conducted by qualified specialists, as you might otherwise be exposed to
dangerous high voltage levels or other hazards.
10
The triangle with a lightning symbol warns the user that high voltage is used within the device
which can result in electric shock.
The triangle with an exclamation mark informs the user that important operating and
maintenance instructions (repair) are contained in the accompanying instruction manual, which
must be observed.
DO NOT OPEN! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
CAUTION: In order to avoid electric shock do not open the speaker
housing/mains adapters or remove the covers. The user is not to conduct
any repairs him/herself. Repairs should only be conducted by qualified
technicians! Do not use any sockets or extension cables that do not fully
accommodate the plug of the device.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISPOSAL
In accordance with European Directive 2002/96/EC all electrical and electronic appliances must be dis-
posed of separately via local collection points. Please observe the local regulations and do not dispose
of your old appliances with normal household waste.
Battery disposal

SETTING UP THE SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Satellite speakers (A): The speakers should be positioned to the left and right of the TV. They should be
the same distance from the screen but no more than 1 m. The stands can be used to set up the satellite
speakers on a flat surface (e.g. sideboard, shelves, etc.) or they can be mounted on the wall by using
the wall bracket.“
Subwoofer (B): The subwoofer should be positioned on the floor near the satellite speakers, usually to
the left or right-hand side of the TV. The distance to the screen should not be less than 100 cm for CRT
TVs and 50 cm for flat screen TVs.
Infrared receiver (C): The receiver should be placed near the screen and/or other home cinema
equipment. It can be set up on a flat surface (e.g. sideboard, shelves, etc.) or it can be mounted on the
wall.
Please note: The remote control must be able to communicate freely with the receiver. The receiver
should also be protected from direct sunlight.
Fig. 1 shows you use of the support for the satellites.
Fig. 2 shows the use of the supplied wall mounts for the satellites.
Wall mounting of the IR receiver is illustrated in Fig.3. The mounting screws are not included in delivery.
Important information / safety instructions: The customer is solely responsible for the use of other
wall brackets / speakers attachments. The customer is also solely responsible for the secure attachment
of the speaker bracket to the wall and the selection of suitable mounting material (e.g. screws, wall plugs,
etc.), while taking account of the weight and construction of the speaker and the condition of the wall.
SYSTEM INSTALLATION
The necessary connections for the individual components are illustrated in Fig. 4.
Connecting the satellite speakers to the subwoofer:
The MULTIMEDIA 2100 DIGITAL set comes with prefabricated speaker cables for the two speakers
(2x3m). If possible, use these cables when connecting the speakers. If required, you can shorten and
strip the cables yourself. Please note that both cables for the satellite speakers should be the same
length. If you need longer cables, do not extend the cables supplied, but purchase new, equivalent cables
in the desired length from a specialised store.
The connectors are located at the rear of the satellite speakers. They are equipped with a clamping
mechanism. Press the top of the terminals and insert the stripped ends of the cable into the side holes.
The speaker outputs (1) on the subwoofer are equipped with terminal screws; undo these screws one
after the other and insert the stripped ends of the cable into the side openings. Then re-tighten the ter-
minal screws. Please ensure that any protruding wires do not cause a short circuit. Make sure you pay
attention to the correct polarity.
Connecting the infrared receiver to the subwoofer:
The infrared receiver is equipped with a 5 metre long connecting cable. This cable should not be
shortened or extended. Connect the cable connector to the subwoofer via the IR sensor jack (5).
Connecting a TV to audio input LINE IN 1:
Use the supplied audio cable (H) and connect the audio output on your TV to audio input LINE IN 1 (3).
If your TV has an audio output with fixed level, this is preferable to the audio output with variable level.
Switching off the speakers on your TV: In order to achieve an optimum sound experience the integrated
speakers in your TV must be switched off. In general, this can be done as follows:
1. Via a switch on the back of the TV
2. Via the TV‘s setup menu
3. By using the remote control to set the TV volume to a minimum.
12
The MULTIMEDIA 2100 DIGITAL set can also be connected to a headphone jack on the TV. A cable
adapter is generally required for this purpose (not included in delivery). The TV‘s speakers are usually
switched off automatically when using the headphone jack. The TV volume should be set to a middle
setting and the overall listening volume should be adjusted via the MULTIMEDIA 2100 DIGITAL remote
control.
Connecting an additional audio source to LINE IN 2:
An additional audio source (e.g. MP3 player, CD player, etc.) can be connected to audio input LINE IN 2
(4) (3.5 mm stereo jack). The necessary connecting cable is not included in delivery.
Connecting an additional audio source to DIGITAL IN:
An additional audio source (e.g. TV, CD player with digital output, etc.) can be connected to digital input
DIGITAL IN (2). The Multimedia 2100 Digital has an optical and koaxial digital input. Please use only one
of them, not both at the same time. The necessary connecting cable is not included in delivery.
Important note:
When connecting audio sources with variable output level (e.g. connection via headphone jack or a TV
set with variable audio output), the level of the audio source should be set in such a way that no distortion
can be heard at the maximum volume setting of the Magnat MULTIMEDIA 2100 DIGITAL. The volume
of the audio source should also be taken into account. No distortions should be evident here either. The
volume of the audio source should also be taken into account. No distortions should be evident here
either.
Mains connection:
Connect the power connector of the subwoofer (9) to an electrical socket via the mains cable (I).
OPERATION
Operating elements on the subwoofer (fig. 4):
Mains switch (7): After installation use this switch to turn on the device. If the device is not going to be
used for a prolonged period, it should be switched off.
STBY/ON button (6): This button can be used to switch between the standby and operating modes. This
function is also possible via the remote control.
Fuse (8): Only use a fuse with the parameters indicated next to the fuse holder, on the rear of the
amplifier.
The infrared receiver (fig. 5):
LED status indication (10): indicates the system‘s possible states:
•LED is illuminated red: The system is in the standby mode.
•LED is illuminated green: The system is switched on and input LINE IN 1 is active.
•LED is illuminated purple: The system is switched on and input LINE IN 2 is active.
•LED is illuminated blue: The system is switched on and input DIGITAL IN is active.
Sensor for the remote control (11): Please aim at this sensor when using the remote control.
13
Operation with the system remote control (fig. 6):
ON/STBY (12): Switches the device on when it is in the standby mode. If the LED does not illuminate,
actuate the power switch located on the rear of the subwoofer. Conversely the device can be switched
from power operation to the standby mode.
MUTE (13): Switches the sound on and off.
VOLUME (14): Increases (+) or decreases (-) the volume.
SUB (15): Increases (+) / decreases (-) the volume of the subwoofer.
SOURCE (Input selector switch) (16): Switches between the different audio sources (LINE IN 1, LINE
IN 2, DIGITAL IN). The selected input is displayed via the LED on the IR receiver (green, purple or blue).
