instructionscarefully.
Starting The Engine
1, Attachsparkplugwireto sparkplug.Makecertainthe
metalloopon theendofthesparkplugwire(inside
therubberboot)isfastenedsecurelyoverthe metal
tiponthesparkplug.
2, Makecertainboththeaugercontrolanddrivecontrol
arein thedisengaged(released)position,
3, Movethrottlecontrolupto FASTposition.Insert
ignitionkeyintoslot.Makesureitsnapsintoplace.
Donotattempttoturnthekey,
NOTE:Theenginecannotstartunlessthekeyis
insertedintoignitionswitch,
Electric Starter
1, Determinethatyourhome'swiringisa three-wire
groundedsystem,Ask a licensedelectricianifyouare
notcertain.
WARNING:Theoptionalelectricstarter
,__is equippedwitha groundedthree-wire
powercordandplug,andisdesigned
tooperateon 120voltAC household
current.It mustbeusedwitha properly
groundedthree-prongreceptacleatall
timestoavoidthe possibilityofelectric
shock.Followall instructionscarefully
priortooperatingtheelectricstarter.
If youhavea groundedthree-prongreceptacle,proceed
asfollows:
1, Plugtheextensioncordintotheoutletlocatedonthe
engine'ssurface,Plugtheotherendofextensioncord
intoa three-prong120-volt,grounded,ACoutletina
well-ventilatedarea.
2, RotatechokecontroltoFULLchokeposition(fora
coldenginestart),
NOTE:Iftheengineisalreadywarm,placechokecontrol
inthe OFFpositioninsteadofFULL.
3, Pushtheprimertwoor threetimesforcoldengine
start,makingsuretocoverventholein thecenterof
theprimerwhenpushing,
NOTE:DONOTuseprimertorestartawarmengine
aftera shortshutdown.
4, Pushstarterbuttontostartengine.
5, Oncetheenginestarts,immediatelyreleasestarter
button.
6, Astheenginewarms,slowlyrotatethechokecontrol
totheOFFposition.Iftheenginefalters,quickly
rotatethechokecontrolbackto FULLand thenslowly
intotheOFFpositionagain.
7, Whendisconnectingtheextensioncord,always
unplugtheendat thethree-prongwalloutletbefore
unpluggingtheoppositeendfromthesnowthrower.
Recoil Starter
1, Rotatechokecontrolto FULLchokeposition(cold
enginestart),
NOTE:If theengineisalreadywarm,placechokecontrol
intheOFFpositioninsteadof FULL.
2, Pushthe primertwoor threetimesforcoldengine
start,makingsuretocoverventholeinthecenterof
theprimerwhenpushing,
NOTE:DONOTuseprimerto restarta warmengine
aftera shortshutdown.
NOTE:Additionalprimingmaybe necessaryifthe
temperatureis below15oFahrenheit,
3, Graspthe recoilstarterhandleand slowlypullthe
ropeout,Atthepointwhereit becomesslightlyharder
topulltherope,slowlyallowthe ropeto recoil.
4, Pullthe starterhandlewitha firm,rapidstroke,Donot
releasethehandleandallowitto snapback,Keepa
firmholdon thestarterhandleandallowitto slowly
recoil,

Astheenginewarms,slowlyrotatethechokecontrol
totheOFFposition.Iftheenginefalters,quicklyrotate
thechokecontrolbacktothe FULLpositionandthen
slowlyintotheOFFpositionagain.
NOTE:Allowtheenginetowarmup fora few minutes
afterstarting.Theenginewillnotdevelopfull poweruntil
itreachesoperatingtemperatures.
Stopping The Engine
Runenginefora fewminutesbeforestoppingtohelpdry
offanymoistureontheengine.
• Tohelppreventpossiblestarterfreeze-up,proceedas
follows:
Electric Starter (If Equipped)
1, Connectextensioncordtotheelectricstarteroutlet
ontheengine,thento120voltACoutlet.
2, Withtheenginerunning,pushthestarterbuttonand
allowthe starterforspinforseveralseconds,The
noisemadebythestarterisnormal,Theengine's
starteris notbeingharmed.
3, Whendisconnectingtheextensioncord,always
unplugtheendat thethree-prongwalloutletbefore
unpluggingtheoppositeendfromthesnowthrower.
4, MovethrottlecontroltoSTOPposition.
5, Removetheignitionkey(Donotturnkey)to prevent
unauthorizeduseofequipment,
6, Wipeallsnowandmoisturefromtheareaaroundthe
engineaswellastheareainandaroundthedrive
controlandaugercontrol,Also,engageandrelease
bothcontrolsseveraltimes.
