To facilitate ignition, light the burners before placing pans on the
grid. After having lit the burners check that the flame is regular.
To ignite a burner, approach the burner with a flame, push the
corresponding knob in completely and turn it anticlockwise to the
maximum position; upon ignition regulate the flame as required.
If after a few attempts the burner
does not ignite, check that the
burner cap and crown are correctly
positioned.
To switch off the burner, turn the
knob clockwise to the position "
".
During cooking, when using fats or
oils, take particular care as they can
ignite when overheated.
Always lower the flame or turn it
off before removing the pan.

Unstable or deformed pans should not be placed on the burners or
plates in order to avoid accidents caused by upsetting or boiling over.
Recommended dimensions of saucepans to be used on the hob burners
are specified in the following table.
Pottery
Always use pots which properly fit
what you have to cook.
Particularly make sure that the pans
are not too small for liquids, since
these could easily overflow.
Moreover, the pans should not be too
large for a faster cooking. In fact,
grease and juices may spread on the
bottom and burn easily.
You should use oans with the right
diameter to fit the burner, in order to
make the most out of it, thus
reducing gas consumption.
It is also advisable to cover any boiling casserole and, as soon as the
liquid starts boiling, lower the flame enough to keep the boiling point.
Burner Minimum size Maximum Size

Semi-Rapid (Rear) 120 220
Auxiliary (Front Right) 80 160

When possible, start cooking with the larger flame in order to reach to
required cooking temperature, then adjust the flame as required.
The outside edge of the gas flame is much hotter than the inside.
Therefore, flame should not spread over the saucepan bottom, in order
to save energy and avoid metal or plastic handles to be overheated.
It is not necessary to use special pans for gas cookers. However, pans
with thin sides transmit heat to their contents quicker than those with
thick sides. Since heat is not distributed evenly around the bottom of
pans food may be cooked unevenly.
When using thin-based pans, contents should be stirred frequently. A
thick base reduces the danger of over-heating as the bottom of the
pan produces sufficient thermal compensation.
We advise you to use pans of a correct size. Large, low-sided pans are
more suitable than those which are narrow and high-sided as they can
be heated faster.
Placing small pans on the large burner does not accelerate cooking. In
these conditions gas is only wasted. Use small pans on small burners,
large pans on large burners. Using a covered pan will reduce heat
consumption.

To switch on the grill, turn the Oven Function Control Knob clockwise
until the symbol .
When the grill is in use the oven door must be left ajar and the knob
protection shield must be fitted as shown in the diagrams.
Using the Grill
When cooking in the oven or grill, in order to avoid over-heating,
always leave the hob lid open.
The cooker is supplied with an
enamelled dripping pan (“A”) to
avoid splashes of oil or grease
from falling on the oven base
when grilling meat or kebabs.
An oven grid (“B”) is also
supplied with the appliance,
which can be used when roasting.
This grid is provided with rails to
allow you place the dripping pan
under the oven grid, as shown in
the diagram.
Dripping pan can also be placed on the oven grid, if necessary.
12
End Of Cooking Programmer
This device allows you to have the oven
switch off automatically after a timed
period.
Manual Function
You can manually operate the electric
oven, i.e. without any programming.
Turn the Programmer knob clockwise on the symbol
.
Setting the Programmer
The End of Cooking Programmer can be set on a maximum cooking
time of 120 minutes.
Place food into the oven, and set the Oven Function Control Knob on
the required temperature.
Turn the Programmer knob clockwise until the maximum setting, then
turn it back to the required cooking time.
At the end of the timed period, an acoustic alarm will sound and the
oven will switch off automatically.
Nevetheless, we recommend you to turn the Oven Function Control
knob on the “0” position, and the Programmer knob on
.
Ensure that large splashes of oil or melted grease do not fall on the oven
base when placing or removing dishes from the oven cavity; This could cau-
se unpleasant smells or smoke when the oven is next used, or even result in
a fire if these substances are overheated.
Never line any part of the oven with aluminium foil. It would result in an
accumulation of heat which might damage the cooking results and also
damage the enamel.
Always insert the dripping pan when using the grill or when cooking meat
on the grid. Pour a little water into the dripping pan to avoid grease burning
and creating unpleasant smells.
Always use oven gloves to remove dishes from the oven.
The accessories (grid and dripping pan) should be washed before using for
the first time.

Cooking Cakes
Pre-heat the oven, unless indicated differently, for at least 10 minutes
before use. Do not open the oven door when cooking dishes which
must prove (e.g. proved pastries and soufflés); the jet of cold air would
block the proving process.
To check if cakes are cooked, insert a toothpick into the mixture; if it
comes out clean the cake is ready. Wait until at least 3/4 of the
cooking time has passed before carrying out this test.
As a general rule remember that food which is well-cooked on the
outside but not enough inside, would have required a longer cooking
time but lower temperature. On the contrary, a “dry” texture would
have required a shorter cooking time but higher temperature.
Cooking Meat
Meat to the cooked in the oven should weigh at least 1 Kg. to avoid
excessive drying.
Red meat should be removed from the fridge at least one hour before
cooking, because the sudden change of temperature could cause it to
become tough. Meat to be roasted should not be salted at the
beginning of cooking as salt causes juices and blood to seep out of the
meat, thus preventing the formation of a well-browned crust.
Meat should be only salted after when half the cooking time is passed.
Use only low-sided roasting trays. High-sided roasting trays act as a
shield and do not allow heat to evenly roast the meat.
Meat can be placed on an ovenproof dish or directly on the grid, under
which the dripping pan should be inserted to collect juice. Ingredients
for gravy should be put in the dish immediately if cooking time is
brief. Otherwise they should be added during the last half hour.
Begin cooking rare meat at a high temperature, reducing the tempera-
ture to finish cooking the inside. The cooking temperature for white
meat can be moderate throughout.
Before serving plates can be kept warm in the oven regulated at
minimum temperature.

14
Cooking Fish
Cook small fish at high constant temperature. Cook medium-sized fish
at high temperature during the first minutes, then gradually decrease
the temperature. Cook large fish at a moderate temperature from start
to finish.
Check that baked fish is cooked by gently lifting one side of the gut;
the meat must be white and opaque throughout, except in the case of
salmon, trout or similar.
In any case, carefully follow the instructions of the recipe you are
using.
Grilling
The following types of meat are suitable for grilling. Meat or offal cut
in slices or pieces of various sizes but not usually very thick, poultry
cut in halves and flattened, fish, some vegetables (e.g. courgettes,
aubergines, tomatoes, etc.), skewers of meat or fish and seafood.
Meat and fish to be grilled should be lightly brushed with oil and
always placed on the grill; this should be positioned on the suitable
level according to thickness and consistency.
Pour 1 or 2 glasses of water into the dripping pan in order to avoid
smoke caused by drops of juice and fat.
The grill can also be used to brown, toast bread and grill certain types
of fruit, such as bananas, halved grapefruit, slices of pineapple, apples,
etc. Fruit should not be placed too near the source of heat.
Cooking times
Cooking times can vary according to the type of food, its consistency
and its volume.
The “Cooking Chart” is provided as a guide. Experience will suggest
adjustment to the time quoted in the following tables.
