n Do not install the unit by yourself (user).
Improperorincompleteinstallationcouldcausere,electricshock,injury
duetotheunitfalling,orwaterleakage.Consultaqualiedinstallerorthe
dealerfromwhomyoupurchasedtheunit.
n Follow the instructions detailed in the installation manual.
Incompleteinstallationcouldcausereorelectricshock,injuryduetothe
unitfalling,orleakageofwater.
n When installing the unit, use appropriate protective equipment and tools
for safety.
Failuretodosocouldcauseinjury.
n Install the unit securely in a place that can bear the weight of the unit.
Iftheinstallationlocationcannotbeartheweightoftheunit,theunitcould
fallcausinginjury.
n Perform electrical work according to the installation manual and be sure
to use an exclusive circuit. Do not connect other electrical appliances to
the circuit.
Ifthecapacityofthepowercircuitisinsufcientorthereisincompleteelectri-
calwork,itcouldresultinareoranelectricshock.
n Ground the unit correctly.
Donotconnectthegroundwiretoagaspipe,waterpipe,lightningrodor
telephoneground.Defectivegroundingcouldcauseelectricshock.
n Do not damage the wires.
Damagedwirescouldcausere.
n Be sure to shut off the main power when setting up the indoor P.C. board
or wiring.
Failuretodosocouldcauseelectricshock.
n Usethespeciedwirestosecurelyconnecttheindoorandoutdoorunits.
Attachthewiresrmlytoavoidapplyingstresstotheterminalblock.
Improperconnectioncouldcausere.
n Donotinstalltheunitinaplacewhereammablegasmayleak.
Ifgasleaksandaccumulatesaroundtheunit,itcouldcauseanexplosion.
n Do not use intermediate connection of the power cord or the extension
cord. Do not connect many devices to one AC outlet.
Itcouldcauseareoranelectricshock.
n Usethepartsprovidedorspeciedpartsfortheinstallationwork.
Theuseofdefectivepartscouldcauseaninjuryorleakageofwaterduetoa
re,anelectricshock,theunitfalling,etc.
n When plugging the power supply plug into the outlet, make sure that there
is no dust, blockage, or loose parts both in the outlet and on the plug.
Verify that the power supply plug is completely in the outlet.
Ifthereisdust,blockage,orloosepartsonthepowersupplyplugortheoutlet,
itcouldcauseelectricshockorre.Ifloosepartsarefoundonthepowersupply
plug,replaceit.
n Securely attach the electrical cover to the indoor unit and the service
panel to the outdoor unit.
Iftheelectricalcoveroftheindoorunitand/ortheservicepaneloftheoutdoor
unitarenotattachedsecurely,dust,water,etc.couldcollectintheunitandcould
causeareoranelectricshock.
n When installing, relocating, or servicing the unit, make sure that no sub-
stanceotherthanthespeciedrefrigerant(R410A)enterstherefrigerant
circuit.
Anypresenceofforeignsubstancesuchasaircancauseabnormalpressure
riseandmayresultinexplosionorinjury.Theuseofanyrefrigerantother
thanthatspeciedforthesystemwillcausemechanicalfailure,systemmal-
function,orunitbreakdown.Intheworstcase,thiscouldleadtoaserious
impedimenttosecuringproductsafety.
n Do not discharge the refrigerant into the atmosphere. Check that the
refrigerant gas does not leak after installation has been completed. If
refrigerant leaks during installation, ventilate the room.
Ifrefrigerantcomesincontactwithare,harmfulgascouldbegenerated.
Ifrefrigerantgasleaksindoors,andcomesintocontactwiththeameofa
fanheater,spaceheater,stove,etc.,harmfulgaseswillbegenerated.
n Use appropriate tools and piping materials for installation.
ThepressureofR410Ais1.6timeshigherthanR22.Notusingtheappropri-
atetoolsandmaterials,orimproperinstallationcouldcausethepipesto
burstcausinganinjury.
n When pumping down the refrigerant, stop the compressor before discon-
necting the refrigerant pipes.
Iftherefrigerantpipesaredisconnectedwhilethecompressorisrunning
andthestopvalveisopen,aircouldbedrawninandthepressureinthe
refrigerationcyclecouldbecomeabnormallyhigh,causingthepipestoburst.
n When installing the unit, securely connect the refrigerant pipes before
starting the compressor.
Ifthecompressorisstartedbeforetherefrigerantpipesareconnectedand
thestopvalveisopen,aircouldbedrawninandthepressureintherefrig-
erationcyclecouldbecomeabnormallyhigh,causingthepipestoburst.
n Fastenaarenutwithatorquewrenchasspeciedinthismanual.
Iffastenedtootight,aarenutcouldbreakandcauserefrigerantleakage.
n Install the unit according to national wiring regulations.
n Depending on the installation area, install a Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI)
circuit breaker.
IftheGroundFaultInterrupt(GFI)circuitbreakerisnotinstalled,anelectric
shockcouldoccur.
n Perform the drainage/piping work securely according to the installation
manual.
Ifthereisdefectinthedrainage/pipingwork,watercoulddripfromtheunit,
anddamagehouseholditems.
n Donottouchtheairinletorthealuminumnsoftheoutdoorunit.
Thiscouldcauseinjury.
n Do not install the outdoor unit where small animals may live.
Ifsmallanimalsentertheunitanddamageitselectricalparts,itcouldcause
amalfunction,smokeemission,orre.Keeptheareaaroundtheunitclean.

1-3-2. REFRIGERANT PIPES
• Topreventcondensation,insulatethetworefrigerantpipes.
• Refrigerantpipebendingradiusmustbe4in.(100mm)ormore.
CAUTION
Besuretousetheinsulationofspeciedthickness(tableonthe
right).Excessiveinsulationmaycauseincorrectinstallationof
theindoorunit,andtoolittleinsulationmaycausecondensate
toform.
• Theunit hasaredconnectionsonbothindoorandoutdoor
sides.
• Removethevalvecoverfromtheoutdoorunit,thenconnect
thepipe.
• Refrigerantpipesareusedtoconnecttheindoorandoutdoor
units.
• Becarefulnottocrushoroverbendthepipeinpipebending.
• Refrigerantadjustment...Ifpipelengthexceeds25ft.(7.5m),
additionalrefrigerant(R410A)chargeisrequired.
(Theoutdoorunitischargedwithrefrigerantforpipelengthup
to25ft.[7.5m])
1-2. SELECTING THE INSTALLATION LOCATION
INDOOR UNIT
• Whereairowisnotblocked.
• Whereairspreadsovertheentireroom.
• Rigidwallandatoorwithoutvibration.
• Whereitis notexposedtodirectsunlight.Do not
exposetodirectsunlightalsoduringtheperiodfol-
lowingunpackingtobeforeuse.
• Whereeasilydrained.
• Atadistance3ft.(1m)ormoreawayfrom your
TVandradio.Operationoftheairconditionermay
interferewithradioorTVreception.Anampliermay
berequiredfortheaffecteddevice.
• Inaplaceasfarawayaspossiblefromuorescent
andincandescentlights.Inordertomaketheinfrared
remotecontroloperatetheairconditionernormally.
Theheatfromthelightsmaycausedeformationor
theultravioletmaycausedeterioration.
• Wheretheairltercanberemovedandreplaced
easily.
• Whereitisawayfromtheotherheatorsteamsource.
REMOTE CONTROLLER
• Whereitiseasytooperateandeasilyvisible.
• Wherechildrencannottouchit.
• Selectthepositionwheretheindoorunitcanreceive
thesignalfromtheremotecontrollerproperly.Check
thatsignalsfromtheremotecontrolleraresurelyre-
ceivedbytheindoorunitfromthatposition(‘beep’or
‘beepbeep’receivingtonesounds).Afterthat,attach
remotecontrollerholdertoapillarorwallandinstall
wirelessremotecontroller.
Note:
Inrooms where inverter type uorescent lamps are
used, the signal from the wireless remote controller
maynotbereceived.
OUTDOOR UNIT
• Whereitisnotexposedtostrongwind.
• Whereairowisgoodanddustless.
• Whererainordirectsunlightcanbeavoidedasmuch
aspossible.
• Whereneighbours are not annoyed by operation
soundorhotair.
• Whererigidwallorsupportisavailabletoprevent
theincreaseofoperationsoundorvibration.
• Wherethereisnoriskofcombustiblegasleakage.
• Wheninstallingtheunitatahighlevel,besureto
securetheunitlegs.
• Whereitisatleast10ft.(3m)awayfromtheantenna
ofTVsetorradio.Operationoftheairconditionermay
interferewithradioorTVreceptioninareaswhere
receptionisweak.Anampliermayberequiredfor
theaffecteddevice.
• Installtheunithorizontally.
• Pleaseinstallitinanareanotaffectedbysnowfall
orblowingsnow.Inareaswithheavysnow,please
install a canopy, a pedestal and/or some bafe
boards.

Itisadvisabletomakeapipingloopnearoutdoorunit
soastoreducevibrationtransmittedfromthere.

1)Insertpowersupplyplugintothepoweroutletand/or
turnonthebreaker.
2)PresstheE.O.SWonceforCOOL,andtwiceforHEAT
operation.Testrunwillbeperformedfor30minutes.If
theleftlampoftheoperationindicatorblinksevery0.5
seconds,inspecttheindoor/outdoorunitconnecting
wire(A)formis-wiring.Afterthetestrun,emergency
mode(settemperature75°F[24°C])willstart.
3)Tostopoperation,presstheE.O.SWseveraltimes
untilallLEDlampsturnoff.Refertooperatinginstruc-
tionsfordetails.

3)Closethestopvalveonthegaspipesideoftheoutdoorunitalmostcompletelysothatitcanbeeasilyclosedfullywhenthepressuregaugeshows0psi[Gauge]
(0Mpa).
4)StarttheemergencyCOOLoperation.
TostarttheemergencyoperationinCOOLmode,disconnectthepowersupplyplugand/orturnoffthebreaker.After15seconds,connectthepowersupplyplug
and/orturnonthebreaker,andthenpresstheE.O.SWonce.(TheemergencyCOOLoperationcanbeperformedcontinuouslyforupto30minutes.)

Fullyclosethestopvalveonthegaspipesideoftheoutdoorunitwhenthepressuregaugeshows(
0.1to0psi[Gauge](0.05to0Mpa))

6)StoptheemergencyCOOLoperation.
Tostopoperation,presstheE.O.SWseveraltimesuntilallLEDlampsturnoff.Refertooperatinginstructionsfordetails.
WARNING
When pumping down the refrigerant, stop the compressor before dis-
connecting the refrigerant pipes. The compressor may burst if air etc.
get into it.
